Priest Abuse and Homophobia: A Gay Nun After Leaving The Convent
This concept began with the assertion that if queer women have always existed, where would they have likely found a safe space during the middle ages. Enter gay nuns. In this episode I tell the story of Mary Dispenza, a nun who realized she had suppressed not only a queer identity, but also childhood priest abuse when she was in her 40s. Now, identifying as a lesbian and an advocate for S.N.A.P., she is comfortable sharing her story.
