Frequency Theory is a show about musical intersections – where jazz meets hip hop, punk and funk converge, turntablism overlaps with soul, folk shares a spliff with its psychedelic brethren, and industrial hits the disco dancefloor. The nature of all culture, including music, is characterized by a constant melding and morphing of two into one, and that into another. There is no “pure” – every form and every artifact is a bastard child of bastard parents, a DNA that can only be traced until it cannot. Remix, fusion, mutation and synthesis. Every week at the midway point, the segment “Discover This Cover” explores radical reinterpretations of music you thought you knew
