Love this Amon Duul track. Carnival in Babylon is such a gem.

It is. A perfect rock/seance blend.

Ela Orleans has also been in near constant rotation since I hward her here a few weeks back. She scratches that low-key Silver Apples itch. Maybe better than they do, even.

There's that holy standard. I didn't think I'd find someone contemporary I like as well or better than Exploded View but I do.

I like that you bring up Jane Weaver. Ela is greatg but Jane is still the top for me.

It's early I know. Presenting as theorem at this point. I wouldn't dare besmirch her before you. Also, all those Orleans cuts on the comp are waaay remastered from the stuff they draw from.

So glad to hear some BOC on DC! I love this album--one of my top personal favorites and BOC's best.

Pretty much-- this and its predecessor, "Tyranny and Mutation" ( 1973). But all '70s and early '80s BOC is pretty great, I think.

I do too. I'm real averse to boogie woogie and the hints of it on Spectres etc started to cool my love. But....if a whole album sounded like the cut Black Blade of Cultosaurus? Hell yeah.

I hear you on the boogie woogie, but that influence made them unique among the heavy rock bands of the time. "Cultosaurus" is a pretty madcap album all the way through!

I'm sure you're right. Cultosaurus had a lot of humor, and oh boy was that welcome in the world of arena rock. Plus I caught Buck Dharma's guitar pick from the pavillion that year!

Awesome! All that said, though, I am definitely appreciating the overall post-rock vibe of tonight's show. This Chris Forsyth cut is fantastic!

He is still a little less contained by song than his buddy Steve Gunn.
