Back in the late '90s, I never would have expected that the outcome of the "rivalry" between the Dandy Warhols and BJM would be the Dandies just sort of fading out and BJM carrying on eternally.

He's kind of a melody genius.

Totally. The best parts of his last dew albums have been variations on the same basic formula, but with these great little changes in the melody.

I mean, The kinks got away with that for like eight great albums in a row, right?

Totally true. He's just doubled the output.

I do think that "Revelation" is probably their masterpiece, but yeah, the variations on the themes have been remarkably creative and satisfying.

Revelation's great. I'm going to pick And This Is Our Music from '02. But yeah, he wrings out this newness all the time.

I love Revelation as well. It's just funny that he's making all of these great albums so theortically "late" in his career, when only the hardcore fans are probably paying attention. If they are, even.

Hard to say. At least he's multiplying with all those other 'a' records bands.

ha! I was thinking that...

The last few Faust records always come to mind. I envision somebody coming up to HJ Irmler and saying, "dude you're still alive? I like, love Faust 1" And him responding, "yes, and i'm way better now than back when I made that awful record all you dorks were drooling over."

These are the sort of things I envision when there's nothing else to do.

Ashra! Here's a great case study. It's post Ash Ra Tempel hype, pre Manuel Gottsching E2-E4 hype. And better than both, in my opinion.

It amazes me how "analog" these and those early Klaus Schulze albums sound.

This Asterix is pretty great. The harmonies are reminiscent of Sweet.

Another fun one. I'm on summer schedule now, so I can listen to DC uninterrupted and can catch most of V3, too. I'll tune in Friday.
