I think your range is dead on. Things started getting weird in '68 then really good by '69, '70. A very good year.

I recently checked out the first few Journey albums-- they're actually not bad at all!

Oh yeah, those post Santana albums before Steve Perry?

Yeah, those three from '75-'77. Accessible prog. Not brilliant but certainly enjoyable.

Schon and those guys were definitely tight coming out of Santana. They put it to good use, I agree.

Haven't yet dared to take the plunge into the Perry era. I want to listen without bias but don't know if I really can.

It's hard when you were carpet bombed with it.

And when people whose musical taste you find it impossible to respect revere it.

Ha. It's a bit of an opiate for sure. It would have been funny in the seventies to think "this music will never die off" and literally have it be true.

Sad to think there had to be a fan or two of Raw Material that thought the same thing... But hey, as of tonight I guess it lives again!
