Collective Ideation is a community space to build and share knowledge and ideas and remember ways of being.
Our why: We are interested in learning alongside one another, growing our capacity and understanding for critical conversation, joy, and liberation, and to do this outside of academic spaces with and for community.

Episode 16: Melanie Fillmore
Join us as Tess and Dora chat with Melanie Fillmore about their critical research and work around data and Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons (MMIP). We chat about a grounded practice of writing daily, Tommy Orange's brilliant novel There, There, and re-claiming and re-connecting with identity.
Melanie Fillmore (they/them/she/her) is an urban mixed Hunkpapa, Lakota of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe of North and South Dakota. As a seeker of beloved community, their work is an iterative process to understand the impacts of imperialism, settler-colonialism, and violence against marginalized communities in data. They envision a future of community led practices guiding policy research rooted in intersectional ancestral wisdom and lived experience. They hold a master’s degree in political science, a graduate certificate in user experience research, and are currently a 3nd year PhD candidate in The School of Public Service in the Public Policy and Administration Program. Their dissertation work studies collaborative governance on Idaho’s missing and murdered Indigenous persons policy.
