Todays set is riot girl and other such feminist punk, no TERFs tho thats wack.

Country/western/folk/bluegrass inspired rock/pop because imo, country is a genre that gets a bad rap and has some real gems. I've also noticed a surge in country inspired alternative music lately, a great example of this is the rising popularity of the band Wednesday, their country influence is also clearer than ever on their new album (no songs from said album are in this playlist tho lol).

This week I've decided to actually stay true to my show name and put together some songs for y'all that feel danceable and/or have high frolicking potential! Indie pop, shoegaze, and maybe some post punk. For maximum enjoyment pretend you're in a field or a an empty parking lot with cool lighting, something cinematic.

shoegaze/dreampop/ethereal sounding

My dad did college radio too! I'm like a college radio nepo baby (if college radio entailed only vampire weekend, bluegrass, and 90s alt rock)! This is all songs/bands that my very cool father introduced me to. Mostly 80s-90s alt rock, vaguely country inspired stuff (R.E.M., Cracker) and whatever genre Yo La Tengo is.

Just some stuff I've been listening to this summer, mainly midwest emo and indie pop/rock

Psychedelic rock, groovy bass/guitar, and otherwise otherworldly songs with lots of layers of sound!

Songs that feel like its summertime, imagine you're at the pool or perhaps driving back from a swimming hole, windows down so your hair can dry obviously. Some bossa-nova inspired, some general indie rock/country-folk-ish rock, and a little bit of early 90s dreamy indie pop.

First set of the summer! No real theme this week, just songs I've been listening to but there is a vague summertime sadness feeling connecting them.
