This week's show is inspired by the 50th Anniversary of David Bowie's "Space Oddity," and the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, both just 5 days apart in July 1969.

| David Bowie Space Oddity (2019 Mix) N Space Oddity (50th Anniversary EP) Parlophone UK 2019 Pop On the 50th Anniversary of David Bowie's first big single, "Space Oddity," a new box set was commissioned featuring the original vinyl single and new 2019 mixes by producer and longtime Bowie collaborator Tony Visconti. There's also an amazing video featuring the new mix. Originally inspired by the film, 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY, it's only fitting that we landed on the moon just five days after this song was released.

It's been more commonplace since, but I think Slovenian darkwave and industrial band Laibach was among the first, covering The Beatles' 1970 album almost in its entirety.
