Good afternoon! I'm not used to hearing myself this early!
Mike Lupica 12:07:27 PM
Wow... the quality of the Fall's cover art is really all over the map. And with a seemingly infinite discography, almost any cover art you can imagine probably exists somewhere in the universe.
Dana K (host) 12:10:07 PM
To be fair, it was only their second single!
Mike Lupica 12:13:52 PM
Oh, definitely not a slag on them. Just an observation -- I like that a band that's got such a highbrow cultural reputation can have artwork that looks... like that.
Dana K (host) 12:20:38 PM
If anyone wants to check out all of the other Galaxie 500 covers besides Barbara Manning: https://www.20-20-20.com/twentysongs2020
Patrick Ganley 12:23:56 PM
The fall has some of the absolute worst cover art for sure
Patrick Ganley 12:24:21 PM
Also thanks again for filling in Dana!
Patrick Ganley 12:24:41 PM
Enjoying the show
Dana K (host) 12:24:50 PM
You're welcome! And the uglier/more amateurish the cover art, the better!
Mike Lupica 12:26:57 PM
There's a Fall single from the early 2000s (I think) with horrifically bad cover art of a totally different style. IIRC, it looks like of like a still from a 1980s cartoon. Lemme see if I can find it on Discogs...
Patrick Ganley 12:27:48 PM
I think you're referring to a live album RSD thing
Patrick Ganley 12:28:19 PM
Has Bingo Masters in the title as well

Yep! That's it!
Mike Lupica 12:32:22 PM
Good gawd.
Dana K (host) 12:32:27 PM
Woof! That's horrendous.
Mike Lupica 12:33:07 PM
But in a way, kinda perfect!
Mike Lupica 12:49:52 PM
Consistently in awe of how beautiful that Unwound record is. I can't say I listen to many of their other records anymore, but that one is really special. Thanks!
Dana K (host) 12:51:14 PM
It really is an incredible album. I never really listened to much of their stuff until recently, which was a big oversight on my part.
Dana K (host) 12:55:05 PM
I'm happy to announce that the roach situation has at the very least been mitigated
Mike Lupica 12:58:22 PM
Congrats on that! So stressful to return home after a night out and having to enter your apartment like a swat team. (Shouting "CLEAR!" or "TARGET HOSTILE! as you move through each room, turning on lights as you go.)
Mike Lupica 1:00:14 PM
Gotta peas out for a bit. Great show, thanks!
Dana K (host) 12:59:57 PM
Thanks for listening!
Patrick Ganley 1:17:19 PM
we had roaches too. we used a simple bait that lay with a syringe and took real good care of 'em
Patrick Ganley 1:18:15 PM
Apparently they love the glue that's found in the binding of old books and record sleeves so between my wife and I it was a veritable smorgasbord for those creepy crawlies
Dana K (host) 1:18:56 PM
we did that for a while but within the last month it got so bad we had to call an exterminator in. the carnage was untold
Patrick Ganley 1:19:00 PM
glad it's been mitigated
Dana K (host) 2:12:20 PM
This new Cabaret Voltaire is everything I wanted it to be.
Krista 2:31:00 PM
I'm behind, popping in to say that I am obsessed with Nihiloxica and believe them to be actively creating a new genre of music. Mind bending!
Dana K (host) 2:32:12 PM
Right? Deserving of any and all hype!
Dana K (host) 2:32:44 PM
And went great after Cab Vol, might I add.
Krista 2:35:32 PM
I am battling a fruit fly infestation here. My pitcher plant is at war against them. I know better than to buy discount produce from an alleyway, allegedly
Dana K (host) 2:37:34 PM
We had a mysterious fly infestation on top of the roach situation a few weeks ago - think it had something to do with the fact that the garbage in Philly hadn't been removed for weeks. But luckily they disappeared on their own.
Krista 2:41:05 PM
Did they get into your makeup? I stayed at a hostel in Boston that had roaches and they ate some weird old cover girl blush I had and then died. Super cool that the blush that could kill roaches went on my face for years.
Dana K (host) 2:44:49 PM
Wow, no, but I did just throw out a bunch of makeup brushes that got sprayed with roach poison when the exterminator was over.
Dana K (host) 2:45:54 PM
And here's where I got lazy because I rarely ever do three hour shows! Enjoy the improv.
