In the 80s there was still WFIL on 560 Am. There was also 102.1 WIOQ which played solid gold oldies.

Did you know Allen Clarke sang on Allan Parsons song Breakdown from I Robot.

Both of those stations, under different formats, had a profound effect on me

Yes those were the stations you listened to at that time in Eastern Pa. Sometimes I'd tune in to WXPN which would be playing all kinds of diverse stuff at the time.

WXPN is still good but WPRB is even more diverse now.

There is still a station which plays tons of these old time records. A station WRDV 89.3 and also 89.7 WDVR from Seargentsville NJ
