Hey Mark, yes! I love Esoterica!

I saw the Meteors 14 years ago when they played at a South River nightclub called “Hummers”, believe it or not. During their first song, one of them threw his guitar straight up in the air and the whole band left the stage without a word. The merchandiser packed up and left (as did much of the already meager audience), although the group eventually did return to the stage to play a full set. When I told the Brighton Bar owner about the incident, he changed his mind about booking them.

What’s so great about PRB is that all shows have a different vibe - halloween week has been great on otherwise

But while I liked "The Alligator People" it couldn't hold a candle to Roky's phenomenal song about it, Cold Night For Alligators!

Although I’ve loved the song “Scream” for many years, I only recently learned that the group hailed from Metuchen here in our state! I heard from one local radio dj that the record label was apparently ran out of somebody’s house there!

I love Sparkle Moore and she just disappeared after a very short but promising career once she had a kid. She was one of the first pompadour-wearing toughs!

She & especially my great-grandmom TERRIFIED my mom as a kid, telling her THE SPECIALIST was coming with his white gloves and briefcase if she didn’t go to sleep! What a backwards method- SCARE kids to sleep

Also, Krista, George made a whole song and drawing inspired by The Specialist and other bogeymen from around the world. Look up Wewe Gombel from Indonesia. She’s the only one who sortve PROTECTS children from mean parents. She’s SO maternal, she has breasts that hang to the floor and she carries them up to her nest and holds them there til parents agree to be nice!

Yeah, that stuff is HARSH. My mom, an early childhood lit professor and reading specialist, had an unedited German version of that. It’s brutal.

Maybe the person who suggested it wanted to keep the premise a secret. I saw "Phantom of the Paradise" knowing nothing except Paul Williams is in it, and I was very happy with the surprises!

I used to take the week off and see 5 films per day from the noon showings to the “danger after dark” films. In recent years I wasn’t able to pull off 5 per day so much with a kid and all, but I never thought those theaters would be indefinitely closed 😖

Quick Sonics Story...I first read about The Sonics in a book by Tom Hibbert called "The Perfect Collection" and the description of their sound intrigued me...and it turned out that the first song I heard from them, "He's Waitin'" perfectly fit the description of them in the book, as it was certainly wild! I’ve seen him live many times and he released a triple-album for his 50th birthday with one song about each year of his life a few years ago and recreated his childhood bedroom on stage. Great show. My husband and daughter went to the NYC show too and my daughter got to meet Claudia Gibson from The Magnetic Fields who then introduced her to Neil Gaiman, and she was super into Coraline the book at the time, so she was psyched!

Yeah Mark, Debra Hill also produced a movie I loved when I was 10, “Adventures In Babysitting,” and I only JUST noticed this year when I showed that movie to my daughter for the first time that she used John Carpenter’s Halloween score in one of the early scenes where Chris Parker, (Elisabeth Shue,) is in the living room of her wards’ house!

Lizbot, are you familiar with album Bull of the Woods by the 13th Floor Elevators? Roky isn't on all the songs, but I thought guitarist Stacy Sutherland did a really nice job on the songs he sang..."Rose and The Thorn" especially! Anyway, thanks for another great Halloween show!
