im back, hi everyone

Good morning, Krista -- Yeah, maybe it IS dancin' time ... at least a little. But so much more to go, including some healing of the culture wars splitting our nation. And no way better to symbolize that, than your playing DJ Cool and then following up Sturgill Simpson. (I play bluegrass music, so of course I flipped happily hearing Sturgill's "Railroad of Sin"!)

I do agree that there is a lot of work to be done. But I needed a little fun before back to the grindstone of mutual aid.

my real job today is still clearing my woods of vines! The parasitic vines in NJ are crazy

each tree needs a circle of vines cut from around it. Tenacious things, vines.

Boy did I not expect to hear Back In The New York Groove this morning! I guess you never expect to hear it, regardless of time of day...

Interesting theory I heard about the real wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald: It was loaded to capacity (and maybe more) with iron ore. But as long as it floated normally, supported evenly by the water beneath it, it was okay. But the storm-driven waves that night were so high, the ship might have been lifted up by the bow and stern, with the mid section coming literally out of the water for a few moments. The lack of central support caused the Edmund Fitzgerald to fold up and crack.

That was the theory, anyway. Makes sense. But horribly tragic no matter what happened. Glad it led to ship safety regulation reforms, at least.

Fascinated by that song when I was little. Got a nice Edmund Fitzgerals patch when exploring Duluth & north shore a few years ago.

Duluth and Grand Marais on the North Shore are gorgeous! I always love visiting them. The theory makes sense, Richard. The other part of the story is the huge storm whipped up in Superior

I usually go out and sing it at karoake this time of year, but I settled for playing it this year

a subgenre I've played a couple songs in today and am playing now from A Tribe Called Red is the traditional pow-wow music mixed with club dance beats. I can't get enough of it.
