Hello everybody and welcome to Serenade to a cuckoo
Christine Duffy 12:11:44 PM
Hi, DJ J.G.! Thank you for giving us the lowdown
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:12:04 PM
Thank you!
Christine Duffy 12:32:41 PM
Wow, I never heard a jazz rendition of How Deep is Your Love before!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:34:37 PM
Christine, this artist (and the vocalists) are so great, I can't express how much I enjo their music.
Christine Duffy 12:39:42 PM
Thanks for playing the John Hollenback group. Another one to add to my list. 📝
Christine Duffy 2:05:10 PM
That track by The Nels Cline Singers was just staggering. Need to hear more from that album!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:21:42 PM
I agree, Christine, it's epic
Bud Burroughs 2:22:36 PM
Is this an alternate mix of Gimme Some Lovin'? Sounds a little different from what I'm used to.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:22:35 PM
Absolutely, Bud
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:23:51 PM
Good ear. It was re-channeled stereo. I used it because the orignal was very muddled.
Bud Burroughs 2:25:17 PM
Ah, makes sense. You're right - I remember it sounding a lot duller. Some things stood out more than I'm used to as well.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:25:56 PM
I hear you! but it makes for better radio.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:26:21 PM
in 2020
Bud Burroughs 2:28:15 PM
For sure. Some 60s pop & rock tracks sound a little "dated." It's remarkable how fantastic many of the jazz recordings from that era sound, though.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:30:16 PM
Interesting and true when I think about it!
Bud Burroughs 2:45:24 PM
Not sure what just brought back this memory a few days ago: as a teen in the early 80s working summers with my carpenter father, I spent a few days working on an apartment on 2nd street. I took a walk around the block at lunchtime and found your store! I spent every lunch hour there that week, spending every dollar I earned.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:50:04 PM
Thank you! I miss that place and time.
Bud Burroughs 2:52:29 PM
I think it was shortly after that that you moved, correct? I spent many happy hours in both locations over the years.
Alison Totten 2:57:43 PM
Thanks Jerry for playing WIND!! I can still sing along and haven't hear it in a million years. Man, I'm old
Alison Totten 2:58:20 PM
Great tribute to Jerry Jeff Walkertnx!
Christine Duffy 2:59:19 PM
This track is bumpin'
Christine Duffy 2:59:59 PM
The entire show is bumpin'! Thanks, DJ Jerry
Alison Totten 3:00:19 PM
Going to listen to some SpiroGyra now :D
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:00:58 PM
Better not!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:01:45 PM
Allison, alot of people have told me the same thing today. It's a badge of honor that you remember it.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 3:02:05 PM
Christine, thank you.
