This band "Barrett Martin" does short little atmospheric pieces; there are 17 on their latest album. They do have a predilection for asian-Indian sounding stuff.

We were talking about the tribute lp Miles From India yesterday in dj Esoterica chat. Great Indian sounds fused with jazz doing Miles D tunes. Pete Cosey, Mike Stern, Wallace Roney, Gary Bartz, Jimmy Cobb, Ron Carter, Chick Corea, John MMcLaughlin, U. Srinivas & many others

Miles From India is so brilliant. You guys may or may not know Miles-Guinnivere. Heavy on the sitar. It is musically my most musically comfortable place to be.

This guitarist and many of his friends are fusion gus, and I don't know if there are any current guys that match it. Indonesian, asian sensibilities and western sensibilities.

I love all of discs 3 n 4 on the B Brew Complete Sessions box. Super funky and some super calming

I think Catholics consider the Maccabees books to be part of their Old Testament. But having been raised protestant, I'm not that familiar with it!

You're right, Bud, I am correcting myself. From Wiki: accounts of the Maccabees are included in the Old Testament used by the Catholic and Orthodox Churches,[34] since those churches consider the books deuterocanonical. They are not included in the Old Testament books in most Protestant Bibles since most Protestants consider the books apocryphal.

There's a few ways to do that still if you're interested, not trying to sideline the conversation just give you some tools to enjoy yourself in the chat

It may have been the "Litvak Square Dance". The tune was Devil's Dream, reharmonized into a Klezmer mode.

Brian, I think Bud must be talking about Mickey Katz and His Orchestra-Litvak Square Dance. Not positive because I don't know square dance music. But because the "fiddle" was a big part of Klezmer music, it's easy to do bluegrass tunes. If you and everyone don't know Mandolin player Andy Statman, please check him out on YouTube.

Andy Statman is phenomenal, on both Mandolin and clarinet!

Statman did a beautiful set on the recent Ragas Live Festival on another radio station.

Love Andy Statman. I have his cd with David Grisman.

That Statman/Grisman CD captures all the great Jewish melodies. A beautiful and historic album. Andy Statman was born in 1950. His music is sacred and secular but always great.
