Good morning, Elliot. And, yes -- YIKES! This old Vietnamese recording does indeed sound like a classic American very lonesome blues. Could Robert Johnson, Blind Willie McTell, or Robert Wilkins have made a tour of Southeast of which we're all unawares! Ha! Just kidding! But it is a revelation. I'd heard of the Excavated Shellac collection but not yet any selections. Thanks so much for playing some this morning!

Hmmm ... I wonder if it's too late to amend my wish list to Santa? Although I'm also adding The Harry Smith Anthology B-Sides (also newly released by Dust To Digital Records, bless 'em) ...

For songs collected from old records (1930's to 1950's), the sound quality is surprisingly good. The digitized 78's that I have all sound muffled and scratchy.

A lot of very challenging mouth sounds in this one, the gargling nearly did me in. God I love WPRB for giving me this experience
