Of course, I try to tune in literally all the time 😎. I caught what I could of his marathon, I thought it'd be fun to wake up in the middle of the night catch what was on at 3 am but that didn't happen

Loituma are another gorgeous Finnish group. Not all their music is quite this ambient. Most tracks have those tight Finnish vocal harmonies.

I remember on the Fargo film dvd extras they talked about the Scandinavian fiddle used in soundtrack. Had sympathetic strings like a sitar that added extra droning harmonic tones

The Swedes have the Nyckelharpa, another cool variation on the fiddle theme.

Yers, Nyckelharpa is even more complex. That might be the one from the film.

It's got keys, so it's more like a bowed hurdy-gurdy. The first time I ever saw one, it was being played by a cherubic blond 12-year-old girl. It was like being entertained by a magical forest sprite, or some such Scandinavian prattle.

Never saw a Nyckelharpa performed live. 😞
