Hello! Happy NYE! Goodbye 2020! This is Songs of Renewal, Hope & New Beginnings!
Brian D 5:05:30 PM
From Farfisa dance set to synthesizer land
Lizbot (host) 5:05:41 PM
All of the above!
Brian D 5:06:38 PM
Vingt Vingt est mort
Lizbot (host) 5:07:35 PM
@Brian D- Long Live 2021!
Lizbot (host) 5:08:25 PM
People used that Ranones joke last NYE, but it makes more sense THIS NYE- 2020, 24 Hours to go (if said roughly around midnight yesterday!)
Brian D 5:13:58 PM
PERFECT SONG
Lizbot (host) 5:14:40 PM
YES! I need to message John Darnielle congratulating him on making the perfect song for 2020, 15 years ago!
Brian D 5:17:12 PM
ahhhhh....
Lizbot (host) 5:16:35 PM
Nothing like some Big Star for a hopeful vibe!
Brian D 5:18:03 PM
the dulcet tones of the 12 string guit fiddle
Brian D 5:19:16 PM
Was John Darnielle scheduled to do a WPRB interview & play some songs but got a cold and missed it about 10 yrs ago or so? Anyone recall that?
Lizbot (host) 5:19:07 PM
I have a couple of friends, one a PRB DJ, who took a pilgrimmage to Ardent Studio. I would go there if I ever get to Memphis
Lizbot (host) 5:19:51 PM
Re: Darnielle- Hrmmm, vaguely rings a bell. Need further confirmation.
Lizbot (host) 5:20:38 PM
Lord knows I’ve scheduled bands that had to cancel for a various reasons. I stopped doing live sets for the most part
Lizbot (host) 5:21:01 PM
Here we have Todd Rundgren, Upper Darby’s finest
Lizbot (host) 5:23:57 PM
I think I didn’t totally appreciate the dulcet tones of the Nevilles until a few years ago.
Brian D 5:24:39 PM
We are experimenting with settings on the robot massage chair while listening to the relaxing sounds
Brian D 5:24:59 PM
Does this have Daniel Lanois on gtr I wonder...
Brian D 5:25:58 PM
He is credited on this LP. I bet it is him
Lizbot (host) 5:25:34 PM
Oh perfect! 👌 🤖 Enjoy your chair! I am 50% intrigued and 50% scared of those things!
Brian D 5:26:19 PM
Oh and Eno too on this song!
Lizbot (host) 5:26:04 PM
Probably (regarding Daniel Lanois)
Brian D 5:26:46 PM
I feel about 5 inches taller when I stand up after a session on the chair
Brian D 5:27:01 PM
"Brian Eno – keyboards, sound effects, vocals on "A Change Is Gonna Come""
Lizbot (host) 5:26:27 PM
At this time last year, I was planning my NOLA trip, and I delved heavily into the Nevilles
Brian D 5:27:11 PM
Well that just seals it
Lizbot (host) 5:27:09 PM
As far as L Cohen, it was gonna be either Come Healing or Anthem. Went with the former for this show
Lizbot (host) 5:27:44 PM
Are you sure your chair isn’t one of those medieval torture stretcher things?
Brian D 5:28:50 PM
Ohhhh the sisters heal then the deep tone of Leonard heal further....
Lizbot (host) 5:28:18 PM
Massage Chair, by Rack Industries
Brian D 5:29:24 PM
No torture no. It is slow paced deep ball rolling massage heaven!
Brian D 5:29:52 PM
So many buttons on that thing's remote. And if you press them twice you get diff options. Still exploring
Brian D 5:30:42 PM
It has this inflating air setting that hugs ya too. But that setting is not for the claustrophobic.
Brian D 5:31:03 PM
I love it but I could see it being intense for some
Lizbot (host) 5:30:40 PM
Sounds good! I think I’ve only experienced one of those chairs at the Sharper Image in the 80s when my brother turned it on the highest shiatsu setting, hence my deep-seated fear
Brian D 5:35:55 PM
They sent us free mini massage pillows too after we bought the chair. Great company
Brian D 5:36:15 PM
This is great music Liz
Lizbot (host) 5:36:51 PM
Thanks Brian! Aretha always peps me up. and now the wonderful Ms Simone
Brian D 5:40:10 PM
Aw yeah!
jimbeaux 5:42:40 PM
My son recognized the Nina track!
Lizbot (host) 5:44:12 PM
@jimbeaux - NICE! Raised right!

JettyOnTheRocks 5:45:40 PM

Lizbot (host) 5:45:34 PM
@Jetty- Haha! I figured! I thought of you when Jojo started!
Lizbot (host) 5:46:14 PM
George also texted me “I love this song!” are: The World was showing it’s hand. Saw him at the TLA that tour. I think it was the TLA...
Brian D 5:52:48 PM
Love this. A Bucks Countiam too. You turned me onto this Liz
Lizbot (host) 5:55:58 PM
Natalie Mering AKA Weyes Blood. I love this album. I saw her perform a bunch when she was a teen!
Lizbot (host) 5:56:49 PM
Saw her do lead vocals at the Satanized South Philly house show on 6/6/2006!
Lizbot (host) 5:56:55 PM
This one’s for my dad
Brian D 5:58:35 PM
Be-attle George! The smiles are returning to their faces
Lizbot (host) 5:59:53 PM
I hope my parents are listening right now because they made me play this song in church!
Brian D 5:59:59 PM
Station ID time!
Lizbot (host) 6:00:13 PM
I still can play it by heart. RICK WAKEMAN on piano in Morning Has Broken!
Lizbot (host) 6:00:49 PM
Brian- The whole system is delayed a coupla minutes right now, but I think that ID will still get in there before 6:05!
Brian D 6:02:06 PM
Rick W is something. Love him on Bowie's Hunky Dory
Lizbot (host) 6:03:21 PM
Yes! He’s on so many great albums other than Yes, and I kinda love his oddball solo stuff like “I’m so straight I’m a weirdo”
Brian D 6:03:37 PM
You made it! Take that FCC!
Commie Francis 6:03:49 PM
Time for Liz's BOYFRIEND
Lizbot (host) 6:03:52 PM
Haha, YES
Lizbot (host) 6:04:10 PM
Okay, these last THREE songs, I love, but they’re also majorly for my octogenarian isolated parents
Lizbot (host) 6:04:32 PM
Here Comes the Sun for my dad, Morning Has Broken for my mom, and Pete for BOTH
Lizbot (host) 6:04:42 PM
(and all for me!)
Lizbot (host) 6:04:53 PM
Hi COMMIE!!
Commie Francis 6:05:09 PM
HI LIZ
Lizbot (host) 6:05:22 PM
Hows your NYE thusfar??
Lizbot (host) 6:05:48 PM
I was comatose earlier. Jetty On the Rocks roused me from my torpor
Commie Francis 6:06:39 PM
We're going to get a box of vegan junk food and then i dunno listening to the radio and playing zelda
Commie Francis 6:07:28 PM
Are you live? I just realized you probably need to play Curtis mayfield move on up
Lizbot (host) 6:07:47 PM
@Commie-Sounds good. I am too sick to eat, but am watching George & Hattie eat a homemade veggie lasagna from the Soup King of Mt Airy
Brian D 6:08:09 PM
Freixenet opened! F that waiting til 12 stuff
Lizbot (host) 6:08:45 PM
Commie- That’d make perfect sense, but I’m not live, or alive. I will be soon. I got an old and crusty computer that likes to disconnect from the internet.
Commie Francis 6:10:07 PM
Oh well, I'll play it. Sorry you're feeling crappy!
Lizbot (host) 6:10:56 PM
I’m glad I didn’t try to do live tonight. I am sorta mummified in the sofa right now.
Lizbot (host) 6:11:34 PM
I barely go out. Don’t know how I got sick. Our immune systems are gonna be weird after all of this!
Lizbot (host) 6:12:12 PM
@Brian D- Nice! Drink some Freixenet for me!
Lizbot (host) 6:12:59 PM
Next time I gotta play the Maria T. cover of this song!
Brian D 6:16:00 PM
A toast to feeling better Liz!
Lizbot (host) 6:16:15 PM
@Brian D - Thanks!
Brian D 6:18:34 PM
Dougie! Reminds me of listening to Gene Shay folk show w mom
Brian D 6:18:54 PM
Great Scot!
Lizbot (host) 6:21:08 PM
R.I.P. Gene Shay
Brian D 6:22:39 PM
Yes another great one gone. Such a treasure of radio and the Phila Folk Fest
Brian D 6:22:55 PM
Miss the announcements and corny jokes from Gene
Brian D 6:23:57 PM
it was great to see Maria T in chat and hear her on the marathon! One of my fave DJs here
Lizbot (host) 6:25:26 PM
Yes! Glad Maria is recording music again!
Rob from Maryland 6:25:34 PM
I missed the Scrawl song, dang. (Though I already played it earlier today). I love that song.
Mark 6:26:25 PM
Hi Lizbot 🤖/ happy NYE and second all the get well wishes !!
Lizbot (host) 6:26:10 PM
@Rob- Ah well. Perfect song for tonight
Mark 6:26:58 PM
I hope peter gabriel has a healing effect :)
Lizbot (host) 6:26:24 PM
@MArk- Happy NYE!
Mark 6:29:02 PM
Thank u and to keep the gabriel vibe going i was by the keswick last week and musical box was supposed to play 2 nites in march just as the world closed down :(
Lizbot (host) 6:28:55 PM
Show gets less mopey soon, I swear! But I miss favorite humans! This was a good show. Dan Malloy wrote it
Lizbot (host) 6:29:08 PM
Show = The Great Comet
Rob from Maryland 6:30:05 PM
Lizbot, absolutely. Happy new year to you, this is one of my fave PRB shows, and one of my fave shows currently on any station I listen to.
Lizbot (host) 6:30:08 PM
@Mark. Aw man. I remember that. We all missed so many great shows 😢. I gave tickets as Xmas gifts last year! The Residents, King Crimson at the Mann (on my anniversary weekend) etc. missed them all
Lizbot (host) 6:30:29 PM
@Rob from maryland - Aw, thanks so much!
Mark 6:34:44 PM
I bet the litany of shows we all missed is tremendously sad and i wanted to see the Met keep up the momentum it was building last year / what a beautiful venue !!
Lizbot (host) 6:34:46 PM
Well, a lot of people got into baking bread this year. Also, Donovan cheers me up
Lizbot (host) 6:35:32 PM
Yeah, Mark. I REALLY loved that King Crimson Met show. It was the best time I saw them. They even played Cat Food and they never play that live
Mark 6:35:53 PM
Banana bread especially:) Donovan has been on constant relisten this week
kentman 6:36:37 PM
One of my all-time favorite songs by Donovan, thank you Lizbot
Lizbot (host) 6:36:13 PM
As far as the big venues, I miss The Met and I miss The Mann and the Keswick. And I miss a ton of little venues like the Random Tea Room
Lizbot (host) 6:36:22 PM
The Rotunda! God I miss The Rotunda
Lizbot (host) 6:37:03 PM
@kentman- You’re welcome! I love him and that song is gold
Commie Francis 6:40:14 PM
So weird, we just drove by the met
Lizbot (host) 6:40:13 PM
@Commie- Oh weird! I don’t know how it’s surviving
Lizbot (host) 6:40:35 PM
I lived near it for years when it was an empty husk
Commie Francis 6:41:42 PM
Yeah no idea! They had some posters up but no idea if they were for cancelled shows from this year or shows next year
Mark 6:41:51 PM
And speaking of the marathon i started listening intently in the 4am hour / heard a great musician named George 2x in the overnight/ wee morning hours :)
Mark 6:42:39 PM
Posters r probably like those at keswick / sad reminder of what got canceled
Lizbot (host) 6:43:29 PM
@Commie- I kept getting postponed notifications from their mailing list, and then a lot of those turned to cancelled notifications.
Lizbot (host) 6:44:15 PM
@Mark- Nice! I heard The Wensceslas Rap in the 1 am hour
Lizbot (host) 6:44:46 PM
I missed Upsot Bells, but hey, I heard it getting recorded in the next room
Commie Francis 6:45:27 PM
Even though it's how it should be, I'm a little surprised at what a ghost town it is out here!
Krista 6:45:38 PM
I've been listening in while cleaning my bathroom! Will soon be having a feast and watching movies
Mark 6:45:55 PM
Once i figure out the bandcamp thing I’m downloading spleen music :)
Lizbot (host) 6:46:12 PM
@Mark- bandcamp is a game changer
Lizbot (host) 6:46:57 PM
I get so much new music off bandcamp, especially this past year
Mark 6:48:33 PM
And it’s only because of WPRB Dj’s I even know
Lizbot (host) 6:48:05 PM
@Commie- Where are you getting your vegan junk food from? I let G eat my last slice of Field Roast last night. Got nothing here I wanna/can eat right now
Brian D 6:49:16 PM
This is one of my all time faves! Love when the bass comes in
Mark 6:49:19 PM
That good music is being made and I don’t become a pure nostalgia junkie :)
Brian D 6:49:27 PM
They build this one up so nicely.
Lizbot (host) 6:49:00 PM
@Krista- Hey! Happy NYE! What movies?? Thinking of watching something with Hattie after this. I got a buncha my house cleaned listening to Marvin’s marathon!
Brian D 6:50:10 PM
I love the Bursting Out version too
Lizbot (host) 6:49:44 PM
@Commie- I’m GLAD it’s a ghost town! Now let’s just hope those Mummers jabronies don’t come out tomorrow!
Brian D 6:50:34 PM
Martin Barre on the Marimba! on that version
Selecta Jerry 6:50:09 PM
Greetings Tulls Skating Away hitting just right currently
Lizbot (host) 6:50:33 PM
@Brian D- Yss! Love that marimba!
Selecta Jerry 6:50:39 PM
We are all skating away on the thin ice of a new day
Lizbot (host) 6:51:06 PM
Hi Selecta Jerry! Happy NYE! Yeah, that hope feels hopeful and I love it
Selecta Jerry 6:51:55 PM
Lizbot you running things musically in my house great nye vibes
Lizbot (host) 6:52:10 PM
Always bummed to think about how I had tickets gifted to me by George to see Jethro Tull back in like 2007ish- only time I would’ve seen them- and we lost the physical tickets and upturned the house looking for them
Lizbot (host) 6:53:02 PM
@Jerry- Thanks! Glad to hear it. Yeah, glad to be here in the chat with you guys and on air tonight rather than dwelling on this year
Krista 6:54:02 PM
I think we will watch Ponyo again!
Mark 6:54:06 PM
You looking for movie ideas : I’ll give u mine the lizbot inspired prosperos book - if i could find :( :)
Selecta Jerry 6:53:27 PM
🔥🎶🔥🎶🔥🙏🏼
Rebecca Harclerode 6:54:43 PM
Glad you are spending New Year's Eve with us tonight. Ending the year on a high note.
Lizbot (host) 6:54:51 PM
@mark!! Haha! Yeah. I SHOULD break out Drowning By Numbers tonight! Or a Zed and Two Noughts! Might confuse my daughter though! Reminds me of when my parents rented and showed my brother and I “Deliverance” on NYE when I was like 8!
Lizbot (host) 6:55:32 PM
@Rebecca- Thanks! Happy NYE! So happy and grateful for this station and you listeners!
Mark 6:56:21 PM
Haha on all counts :)
Lizbot (host) 6:56:41 PM
@Krista- LOVE Ponyo and all the Miyazaki. Did you see that doc about him from a couple of years ago? I got misty eyed watching it at the philaMOCA screening. So good. God, PhilaMOCA...RIP
Lizbot (host) 6:57:16 PM
I am thinking of showing Hattie American Graffiti soon. Just showed her Crooklyn earlier this week. Both are great soundtrack movies
Mark 7:00:04 PM
Let us know if u decide before show ends Maybe all us stay at homes have a group watch tonite :)
Lizbot (host) 7:01:24 PM
@Mark- Sounds good! 👌Gotta confer with my daughter. She also might wanna just watch that new Pixar jawn
Lizbot (host) 7:03:06 PM
Damn! I was faked out by that Tame Impala false ending!
Mark 7:03:32 PM
U mean soul /. Hmmmm don’t know about that one ... given the people i know who raves about it
George Korein 7:06:08 PM
Ooh celestial vibes!
Lizbot (host) 7:08:07 PM
@George- new Juliana Barwick- one of my faves from late 2020
Lizbot (host) 7:11:11 PM
@Mark- I don’t know either. My kid likes the one that goes inside the brain of a tween girl- Inside Out. I have heard mixed reviews of this one. She will also equally be happy to watch almost anything I suggest. I raised this kid on a lot of art house stuff, and she is not subtitle averse! I made sure of that! No child of mine is gonna complain about subtitles!
Mark 7:13:06 PM
Ha we did kinda discuss la jette a few weeks ago ... not exactly kid feel good but lotsa meaning in it - just sayin’ :)
Lizbot (host) 7:13:11 PM
I thinj American Graffiti is a good choice for tonight because it’s got a excited/upbeat vibe and all takes place in one night, but I haven’t really given this much thought yet
Mark 7:13:48 PM
U right about that one & George Lucas right ?
sean burns 7:14:42 PM
I always felt a special connection with lizbot due to our mutual love for several groups, some often overlooked like Arthur Lee and love, Robin Hitchcock, XTC, in particularly the millennium the Kurt Boetcher group
Lizbot (host) 7:16:01 PM
Mark, I’ll def show her La Jete soon! And prob 12 Monkeys after it. I am STILL bothered by the fact that it takes Pit and Madeline Stowe SO LONG TO DRIVE FROM PHILLY TO BALTIMORE that they have to stop overnight in a motel...uh...look at a map, Terry Gilliam!
sean burns 7:15:52 PM
Oh yeah Brian Wilson too
Lizbot (host) 7:17:08 PM
Hey Sean- Thanks! Yeah, that’s a whole chunk of my favorites right there
sean burns 7:17:08 PM
Complain about subtitles... I wish I could have gotten that far with my daughter. Seeing her friends flat out told me they wouldn't watch any black and white movies when I tried to show them a Marx brother's flick
Mark 7:18:15 PM
Hahaha yes the geography error / if watch 12 the dvd extras r fantastic / Gilliam walks thru the whole process and how he almost didn’t put name on the movie when they wanted lots of changes
Lisa Shannon 7:18:37 PM
Just wanted to drop in to say HNY & thank you for playing the band Copiers a couple weeks ago, which is now my #1 favorite record. And also 100% on the Miyazaki (esp. Nausicäa)
Mark 7:19:51 PM
First studio screening had disastrous audience response :(
sean burns 7:20:54 PM
Castle in the Sky is near the top of my Miyazaki list for The haunting portrayal of the decaying floating island, althoughI could do with less of the humorous bad guy chase scenes
Mark 7:21:51 PM
And as always a great show / thanks for all the efforts this year and everyone have a great NYE !
Lizbot (host) 7:26:10 PM
@sean- The only movie my daughter put the kibosh on was Laurel & Hardy “Tin Soldiers On Parade”, which...fair enough. That one is kinda off. I had never seen it, and we didn’t get more than 10 minutes in. I just remember liking the movie where they join the Foreign Legion and sing Shine On, Harvest Moon
Lizbot (host) 7:26:27 PM
@Mark- Thanks!
Lizbot (host) 7:28:37 PM
@Sean- My favorite Miyazaki/Ghibli films are, in no particular order: Spirited Away, Totoro, Ponyo, Whisper of the Heart, Only Yesterday (which practically has a WPRB-esque soundtrack!!), and The Wind Rises
Lizbot (host) 7:31:34 PM
Oh god, and Howl’s Moving Castle, Kiki’s Delivery Service, and Mononoke, which has a white wolf to rival my own white wolf dog!
Lizbot (host) 7:31:57 PM
@Mark- WPRB and this community has gotten me through this crap year! Thanks for turning up and tuning in!
Brian D 7:34:29 PM
Tull Again! I love it. A Sun theme. And a Scot theme tonight
Mark 7:35:57 PM
Helped us all thu it / one last maybe compromise movie : deidre clued me into svankmajer (sp?) version of Alice - clips i saw were pretty amazing / again have great nite
Brian D 7:36:54 PM
Bill Withers ahhh
Lizbot (host) 7:37:32 PM
Brian D- oh yeah...hadn’t really realize I had a lotta Scots tonight! Fitting for Rabbie Burns’ legacy!
Christine Duffy 7:37:50 PM
❤ Bill Withers
Christine Duffy 7:38:17 PM
Happy New Year's Eve DJ Liz Bot & the fine people of the chat
Brian D 7:38:38 PM
Hello Christine! HNY
Brian D 7:38:54 PM
Is this the Bill W song where he holds that note forever?
Christine Duffy 7:38:55 PM
Hi Brian! *waves*
Lizbot (host) 7:39:37 PM
@Mark- YES! It figures Deirdre would like that movie. It is great. I have it on VHS I bought 20 years ago, but need a DVD or to find it on streaming. DEFINITELY one I want to show Hattie (my kid) I love Svankmeyer. The Brothers Quay (who went to UArts) were very inspired by Svankmeyer and all that Czech stop-motion animation (the Czech government funds its artists!)
Lizbot (host) 7:39:47 PM
Hi Christine!! Happy NYE!
Christine Duffy 7:40:02 PM
WPRB & the community have propped me up & pulled my sorry butt through this year. Thank you. 🙏
Brian D 7:40:59 PM
My life is just a constant PRB chat & DJ shift change
sean burns 7:41:06 PM
You can't go wrong with any Miyazaki movie or almost any Ghibli movie... Although goro miyazaki's tales of Earth sea was pretty boring
Lizbot (host) 7:41:07 PM
@Christine- Same here!! In both doing this show each week, listening to the other DJs and being here in the chat with the community!
Lizbot (host) 7:41:32 PM
Tales from Earthaea was just bad!
Brian D 7:41:43 PM
I was so glad when the DJs returned. Although the (other) robot DJ from March until summer was pretty cool!
Lizbot (host) 7:42:11 PM
@Sean- I think that Earthsea was the reason Miyazaki’s son didn’t become the heir apparent of Ghibli
Christine Duffy 7:42:14 PM
Thanks for all the time & effort you invest in creating Doubleplusgood. You really make a difference! 🌟
Brian D 7:42:32 PM
I have had such a great opportunity to reach out and chat and read so many great posts from others in the chat community.
Brian D 7:42:56 PM
They don't seem to mind me "Irish Chat Fingers" (I tend to go on a bit....)
Lizbot (host) 7:43:09 PM
@Christine- Thank you, I really appreciate that! I NEED this show every week! Keeps me sane!
Brian D 7:43:42 PM
Well.... Irish, English, Swedish, Dutch and maybe Scots fingers
Lizbot (host) 7:43:43 PM
@Brian D- Ha!! I certainly don’t mind! Glad you’re here!!
Lizbot (host) 7:44:18 PM
I have never heard the term “Irish Chat fingers” but I DEF have that too!
Brian D 7:44:52 PM
Sounds like a new frozen potato treat!
Lizbot (host) 7:45:08 PM
As well as good old fashioned Irish ranting. No one in my family can get a word in edgewise.
Lizbot (host) 7:45:23 PM
HAHA! Oh my god, the new treat from Mr. Tayto!
Christine Duffy 7:45:27 PM
🇮🇪 hah!
Lizbot (host) 7:46:15 PM
I could not believe when I was in Ireland that their version of Disneyland is literally a potato themed amusement park owned by the Mr. Tayto Crisps company! 😂 🥔
Brian D 7:46:27 PM
I love knowing that now
Brian D 7:46:53 PM
Ahhh the buh-day-das
sean burns 7:47:26 PM
I haven't seen it in a while but I remember thinking goro miyazaki's up on Poppy Hill was okay. But then he really sunk with earthsea
Lizbot (host) 7:47:28 PM
In the village of Cong (where The Quiet Man was filmed) I stuck an empty Mr. Tayto shrimp-flavoured crisps bag into the hand of the Maureen O’Hara statue
Lizbot (host) 7:47:40 PM
I’d like to think that crisp bag is there to this day
Christine Duffy 7:47:40 PM
PO-tay-toes. Boil 'em, mash 'em, fry em....
Brian D 7:48:07 PM
I need a new season of Derry Girls stat
Lizbot (host) 7:48:49 PM
Up on Poppy Hill is pretty good. I like that one alright. Saving the school together and all that. The plot gets convoluted with that whole love story/are they related thing!
Christine Duffy 7:48:51 PM
Maybe we need to re-watch Father Ted. Go on...
Brian D 7:49:17 PM
Oh Father Ted. That actor...way too young aye
sean burns 7:50:47 PM
My dad named me after the John Wayne character in The quiet Man. My grandfather was a boxer, one generation removed from Ireland. I guess the movie made an impact on him in 1954
Lizbot (host) 7:50:48 PM
Graham Linehan also made The I.T. Crowd. But my current Irish favs are MOONE Boy with Chris O’Dowd, set in Roscommon in the 90s based on his childhood (it ended a couple years ago) and Bridget & Eamon!
Brian D 7:51:17 PM
Chris O'Dowd is so good. Reminds me of a musician friend a bit (lookswise)
Brian D 7:51:52 PM
I love listening to Larry Kirwan's show on the not so satellite radio on Sunday am
Lizbot (host) 7:52:26 PM
Also, I heard The Young Offenders is good. Show is set in Cork, based on the movie which I saw and that was funny! All Cork actors trained at Trinity.
sean burns 7:52:19 PM
The family tree with Chris O'Dowd was really good, written at least in part by Christopher guest
Lizbot (host) 7:53:07 PM
There is now a show of The Young Offenders.
Brian D 7:53:09 PM
Yes Sean! that was fun
Lizbot (host) 7:53:32 PM
Oh, Sean- I loved that Family Tree show and hoped for more seasons! Bummed it was cancelled too soon!
Christine Duffy 7:53:57 PM
Sounds like I need to see The Young Offenders and Moone Boy!
Lizbot (host) 7:55:21 PM
@Sean- Oh wow. My dad is 1st generation (I can gave Irish Citizenship/EU citizenship if I ever bother getting my paperwork together,) and he always talks about the quiet man! He was born in ‘39, so that movie was big when he was a teen!
Lizbot (host) 7:56:58 PM
My paternal grandmom is a McConnell from Cashel Glebe in Donegal, Granddad was from just outside Galway City.
Christine Duffy 7:58:08 PM
Thank you, Liz Bot. 🤖 Happy New Year, everybody!
Lizbot (host) 7:58:16 PM
I rushed through this break so I could fit these last two songs!!
sean burns 7:57:47 PM
Gee if I was able to get an Irish /EU citizenship I think I'd do it in a flash.
Brian D 7:58:36 PM
Dad's side is from County Carlow. We have a castle w same last name apparently...
Lizbot (host) 7:58:39 PM
Thank you, Christine! Hoping for a brighter 2021!
Corage Mike 7:58:16 PM
Cool.
Brian D 7:58:55 PM
Happy New Year Liz and everyone!
Lizbot (host) 7:59:28 PM
@Sean- I should have taken care of my citizenship when I was there in August 2018. I regret that now!
Brian D 7:59:31 PM
Liz it is so much fun chatting with you! Such great music film and life recommends!
Anne Lopez 7:59:07 PM
Happy New Year! I loved this show. I'm going on a Jethro Tull jag now. Also my cat's nickname is Lizbot.
Lizbot (host) 7:59:57 PM
@Brian D- Thanks! Always great hearing from you!!
Brian D 8:00:01 PM
You can't go wrong with the Tull Anne
Lizbot (host) 8:00:17 PM
Anne, Thanks! That’s AMAZING about your cat!
Lizbot (host) 8:00:39 PM
@Anne- I’ve been on a Tull jag too lately!!
Brian D 8:00:50 PM
This song title is from Paul Simon reading a Chinese restaturant menu and seeing a dish named this with chicken and egg. Mother and Child Reunion!
Lizbot (host) 8:01:12 PM
@Brian- YES! I ALWAYS notice that on Chinese menus! Ha
Lizbot (host) 8:01:47 PM
🥚 🐓
Mark 8:02:09 PM
Tears 😭 to this one ! It’s beautiful!!
Brian D 8:02:35 PM
Ooo Child(ren) good night... this does make me think of the sad scenes in films
Lizbot (host) 8:02:37 PM
This song always gets to me. I don’t play it often, but NYE 2020 calls for it!
Lizbot (host) 8:03:06 PM
It’s used in a sad/hopeful scene at the end of Spike Lee’s Crooklyn
Lizbot (host) 8:03:36 PM
Some day, we’ll walk in the rays of a beautiful sun.
Christine Duffy 8:03:53 PM
💗💗💗
Brian D 8:04:16 PM
Ok. We are starting Young Offenders right now! And later this weekend Moone Boy
Brian D 8:04:23 PM
Thanks for the recommendations
Lizbot (host) 8:04:34 PM
HAPPY 2021, EVERYONE! HERE’s to a BETTER, BRIGHTER FUTURE, LIVE SHOWS AND HAPPY TIMES!
