Patrick, because I am older, I have gravitated to Ra's earlier works, people younger than me relate to the hipness of Lanquidity. I can truly appreciate your perspective, it's a killer!

You will hear me make a comment in about 10 minutes that Ra used ideas from the late 70s music on his albums of that time. I know the band enjoyed it, I'm sure Ra enjoyed doing it. music for people to relate to right there. The genius of RA

There are certainly gems from all the decades, but yeah the late 60s through to th end of the 70s is my personal Sun Ra sweet spot

Ya love NRBQ and there whole throw it at the wall crazy approach to live performance. But I found out about them way too late

Yes, that is Ra from one of his albums. NRBQ shared a touring agent with Ra. Were big supporters of Ra.

O yeah and the... I am the alter destiny the presence of the living myth.... that ID too

I take credit for that ID. I put together the motion picture soundtrack recording of Space Is The Place from the reel of the movie. That was an excerpt I liked and put it on the soundtrack. Someone at WPRB made an ID out of it.

two of my most memorable concerts of my life at Penn. Ra was one, the other one was Big Brother & the Soul Survivors

Locked in to the stream for the next two hours w a fully charged battery! Looking forward to psychedelia

Jerry, when did you first see Sun Ra? If I could go back in time to attend a concert, 70s Sun Ra would be high on the list.

Big Brother was at Irvine, I had a friend who won tickets on WFIL for the show. We had a bet. He insister that the Soul Survivors were the headliners. I said they weren't. He lost, and had to take me to the show for free.

My Ra show was in Gino's Empty Foxhole in St. Mary's Church in 1972. It was the single greatest show I ever attended. They were performing music from My Brother the Wind Vol. 2, my favorite Ra album (as a result of that show)

I saw and heard things I never experienced before.

And like many other people in this world, I saw Ra lead everyone attending one of his concerts out of the venue like the pied piper and then back to their seats. For real, for real.

Sounds like an amazing experience!

I love an artist who can turn a live performance into a real "event"

This is an overlooked album, although everything is overlooked.

Bud, you are right. Ra went all the way back to the vaudeville era. He used to play p iano at movie theaters!
