Back in the early aughts my band opened for a version of the NYD at an amateur wrestling arena in South Philly.

I didn't personally interact with Sylvain, but my singer wanted a photo with Johansen and he was very not into it. I held the camera and captured all the annoyance. A prized photo.

just wanted to share an almost dolls memory before you go, jen...they headlining for black joe lewis and the honeybears back around 2009, which for me is about as a great a lineup can get for the troc in philly...or, anywhere really. but after black joe was done and we were waiting for the dolls, like cathoic school boys might i mention, i got kicked out...on a technicality!!!...but i was wearing a new york dolls t-shirt. so, at the very least, they saved me from being that guy.

still never got to see 'em. but thanks so much for honoring sylvain sylvain's memory, jen. great show. you rock.

when i first tuneed in you were playing the dolls, and i thought it was the black lips. couldn't've gone wrong either way. chunky, raw, lo-fi guitar and noise. two of my favorites...night, jen. thanks.
