Amphioxus, also known as lancelets, are a species of "fish-like" benthic filter feeding chordates. They closely resemble, and are believed to be related to, 530-million-year-old Pikaia, fossils of which are known from the Burgess Shale. Zoologists are interested in them because they provide evolutionary insight into the origins of vertebrates. Lancelets contain many organs and organ systems that are closely related to those of modern fish, but in more primitive form. Therefore, they provide a number of examples of possible evolutionary exaptation. For example, the gill-slits of lancelets are used for feeding only, and not for respiration. The circulatory system carries food throughout their body, but does not have red blood cells or hemoglobin for transporting oxygen.

Sometimes I check out the Spinitron website for a feed of what the other member stations are broadcasting. Most stations are on automation, and most of their selections are fairly mainstream.
Mark 7:17:29 AM
I think i heard that most spin stations were still automated that is why I appreciate PRBb sooo much / all these dj’s playing non mainstream great music safely - just fantastic !
Mark 7:18:53 AM
And good morning to el duderino/ I’m not into the brevity thing either :)

ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 7:27:25 AM
💔 yes, heard the sad new about Chick Corea yesterday - too late to prepare a tribute. I'll consider it for next week, but I'm afraid one of our other DJs will do a much better job first, making my late tribute sound lame.😞
the_dude 7:28:06 AM
Plenty of room for everyone to pay tribute I'm sure
the_dude 7:28:33 AM
And I've been digging covet ever since you played them the other week , thanks for that introduction
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 7:30:23 AM
Thanks, Dude. I discovered Covet fairly recently. Unlike most math rock groups that focus more on technical chops, Covet still strives for expressive melodies.

the_dude 8:04:01 AM

ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 8:07:06 AM
I am unfamiliar, but intend to check them out. West coast math rock/post rock has usually not disappointed.
the_dude 8:13:42 AM
Oh cool! Yeah I'm most familiar with the album drugs to the dear youth, it's instrumental. Check it out
Brian D 8:14:32 AM
Very nice. Sounds like Derek and Warren trading off on slide gtrs here. Each has a diff vocab to their approach. Jimny Herring might be on here too for a 3 gtr army. Sounds like a diff voice for this non slide solo that is going on
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 8:16:06 AM
Warren Haynes was not given credit for guitar on this track, though.
Brian D 8:17:13 AM
Never get tired of hearing " guitarmonies '
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 8:18:46 AM
Indeed. But I am always reminded, when seeing how accomplished Derek Trucks was at such a young age, how little talent I have.
Brian D 8:19:14 AM
Whether it's the Allmanesque approach or Thin Lizzy, Wishbone Ash, Iron Maiden, Strokes etc. They all did the harmony on gtr a little diff and it sounds pleasing to these ears
the_dude 8:20:16 AM
Oh and the untitled album, that s the one I was thinking of - but haha yeah I feel yeah there Dave...
Brian D 8:20:30 AM
And that o so brief period when Jimmy and Jeff were in the Yardbirds together on gtrs
the_dude 8:21:18 AM
And I love my guitarmonies too, are you into black metal at all Brian? You hear it there too
Brian D 8:22:13 AM
Yes evaD , Derek has that gift. Right from head to fingers . Great touch. Great ear as is needed so much for slide gtr and non fretted instruments or 'bone etc
Brian D 8:23:25 AM
My students turned me on to some of the zillion sub genres of Metal when i taught gtr. Yes the harmony id
Brian D 8:23:35 AM
Is alive
Brian D 8:24:38 AM
Alive in Death haha
the_dude 8:28:09 AM
Haha death is alive and well! I can imagine being bombarded by genres by young guitar students... but yeah different vibe to it but the melodies and harmonies are there

good job Dave the O Negative! Difficult for me to donate anymore...it just stops flowing and becomes very uncomfortable. One of my missions on The New Abnormal is to introduce people to the field of Rock Progressivo Italiano. It's a rich music, but never caught on in the west. Probably our aversion to foreign language songs here has a lot to do with it.
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 9:27:12 AM

ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 9:28:17 AM

ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 9:34:42 AM
Yes, Brian. The Italians did more than just ape British prog. Their style was largely an outgrowth of their own musical genres.
Bud Burroughs 9:35:47 AM
It tends to be very dramatic.
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 9:36:20 AM
Dramatic, yes. And I respect that they insisted on singing in Italian when most other European countries were still singing in English to appeal to the UK/USA markets.
Bud Burroughs 9:38:14 AM
Good point. And like you said, it's probably the main reason those bands never caught on in the US.
Brian D 9:38:16 AM
Yes i think the flow of the Italiano works for the overall mood/ feeling. I could see how that would be lost in translation
Brian D 9:40:54 AM
