Good memories of tv in the 70s when i see Bert

A little New Orleans sound with a singer I discovered on Harry Shearer's show. I guess he lives in New Orleans for part of the year (where it is now "virtual Mardi Gras")

I love how this track is both meditative and engaging

Kahil El'Zabar had two great releases last year...

I just caught the tail end of the summary of that last set. Who was it that just passed away?

I undersold Moran as a "cohort" of Shepp's but he's really brilliant here too. And it's Fats Waller, not Art Tatum who wrote "Jitterbug Waltz"...

Saxophonist Hamiet Bluiett died in 2018, that Kahil El'Zabar record is purportedly the last thing he recorded...

Cool deconstructed version of Jitterbug. I lobe the Dolphy version. That expanded Musical Prophet release is great

Yeah, I plunked down the money for the expensive vinyl release of that Dolphy set, they don't dig up new Dolphy recordings every day.

Dolphy was among my first jazz obsessions in my twenties, LAST DAT being a particular favorite.

I try to keep up with Ace but I'm constantly finding great reissues I knew nothing about

All those great girl group comps keep me in touch with my feminine side...

Stag-O-Lee is another great label for comps. The Exotica/ Popcorn racy stuff. Some overlap with the Las Vegas Grind releases. Love that stuff.

And impossible to keep up with.
