I didn’t mention in the public FB chat how, after my nice chat with Mike Watt at the Honeymoon Music compound, he fell quite spectacularly down the stairs- a full steep Philly rowhome flight

Wow! I don't have any Mike Watt stories -- never met him, and only ever saw him perform once (with fIREHOSE.) But watching him change a bass string in the middle of a song (while continuing to play) was one of the more impressive things I've ever seen.

The dude can TALK! He was chipper, verbose, and fairly drunk. This was during the No More Bush mini-tour with Byron Coley in 2008. Bryon recited dirty poetry I wish I could forget

Short version he was outside CBGB and someone else who was playing was freaking out because his synth programs got erased or his computer crashed or something and he couldn't play without it. Some skinny artsy dude. He was talking to himself and wandered off down the bowery. And there's mike watt in a plaid shirt with the sleeves rolled up eating chicken sort of addressing everyone saying "hey what is up with that guy?"

The new Springsteen sculpture — titled “SEA SEA Rider: A Jersey Legend” — shows the music legend holding a guitar while literally being wrapped by the Jersey shoreline — thanks to a seashell jeweled cloak. It actually takes over for a Springsteen bust that has been counting cars over the past few years — just like the replica Springsteen sculpture does on the corner of Alexander and Faculty roads. Both are called “Bruce Springsteen, Soulful Humanitarian.”

What a world.

Basically Springsteen wrapped in the Sea bejeweled with seashells.
