Haha brian had to look up dickran gobalian/ saw he passed in NH couple years ago / surprised at his age he seemed like 60yo in 1980 :)
Brian D 12:52:14 PM
Ya I think he lived on Aquetong Rd. And apparently was in hospice in Newtown for a stretch toward the end. Character. Friend of mine had a job as his driver for a tour. There was a dedicated seat in the minivan for Leon's hat.
Brian D 12:54:28 PM
Saw him tune his guitar for about 10 minutes a Philly Folk Fest mid 1990s. I think that was schtick that he did many times tho
Brian D 12:55:18 PM
Red shiny suit on SNL was such a classic moment
Mark 1:01:45 PM
haha yes what a mysterious character dylan said when meeting him didn’t know if he was 25 or 60 famous for changing up songs / set lists & stage chatting wow wish i got to see him !
Richard from Rocky Hill 1:28:14 PM
I'm reading Looking To Get Lost, a new collection of rock and blues journalist Peter Guralnick's musician profiles with updates. It's interesting that as much as Jimmy Rodgers acknowledged his debt the blues, many of the African American blues greats who gained new fame during the Folk Revival were also Jimmie Rodgers fans.
Richard from Rocky Hill 1:30:44 PM
One of those blues greats that Guralnick holds in especially high esteem (along with Muddy Waters) is Howlin' Wolf, especially as a killer in-person performer. That last Wolf track "Down in the Bottom" surely gives a hint why!
Sonny Boy III (host) 1:33:27 PM
I'll be on the look out for the Guralnick collection! And Wolf is certainly one of the all time greats.
Jimbo Daily 2:07:14 PM
Hey Sonny Boy! Sounding good today. Have you ever heard 'Tea for Two', by some singers that sound a lot like Cats in the Fiddle? I made a tape of this in high scholl and have never found since. On a record that I really want to call 'New World Records'. A fun thing with original melody combined with a bit of ... a ... 'weefer' song .....
Sonny Boy III (host) 2:37:50 PM
Hey Jimbo -- sorry for late response
Sonny Boy III (host) 2:39:09 PM
Could it be any of these?

Sonny Boy III (host) 2:44:40 PM
I'm not finding it JImbo but I'll keep looking!
Sonny Boy III (host) 2:45:02 PM
Meanwhile I have to run off and close the chat a bit early -- see you all next week for the drive show!
