I have all those old early Nick releases. I was in Cobra House when he & Rob & Mullen had their first rehearsal ever and housemates and I blocked them into the room for a laugh and declared it the house for women of Cobra House only that night. I have delighting in giving Nick a hard time ever since!

Used to have a mike from Claymont Delaware who called, he was turned onto my show by his son, also named mike, who would sometimes call. You gotta treasure father/son listener combos....

Wilbo’s recommendation he sent me is Those Mysteries by Egnekn's Daughter. Seems Egnekn is an anagram of Gen Ken Montgomery's first name(s). His Daughter Luna does the vocals, I think she was maybe 4 at the time. It's on a comp that came with Cabinet Magazine called Juvenilia.

One live show I miss a lot that I think of when I think of music on your show, Dan, is Jamaladeen Tacuma’s Outsiders Fest. I enjoyed Infinien there and then heard it on WPRB on Jazz with Buskirk. Of course saw Nick play at that fest.

Wilbo used to do the show after me. i loved hearing the latest story about his tree-doctoring....

Man....I really hope Wilbo comes back!

Yeah, that Outsiders Fest in particular was one of my all-time favorite Philly outings. Such incredible music...

Yeah, and thinking of that year of Outsiders Fest with Infinien at I-House makes me miss I-House as a venue and show space. I loved that building so much, and my parents were married there in ‘71!

Chad Taylor is one of today's premiere talents in my book, year-in-and-year out, he plays on four or five of my favorite records...

I was so swept up in Exhumed losing their space, I'd kinda forgotten about all the music I've seen there. So many great times, though I've forever hated those bleachers! (now it can be told)....

Saw Mary Halvorson perform with Jessica Pavone a couple times back at the Avant Gentleman’s Lodge! Miss AGL, I-House and Tritone! So many great jazz shows at those venues, and great overall vibe.

I worke at a much-less free non-commercial station in Philly,in 2000 where a was able to sneak on a few minutes of the first Sonic Liberation Front record. Keven Diehl happened to be listening and we've been friendly since....

No Tom Waits night! No regular gig there, though I guested and played a few gigs with bands. And speaking of Sunny Murray, I played on a gig with him there and played Albert Ayler's Summertime before his set. He finally sat down and played along on the drums, a real moment for me...

The Sunny Murray interview I did on PRB, and the Krisstofferson interview I did on KUSF, are my great lost interviews., I'm always hoping to find someone who taped their broadcasts...

Dan, wow! That sounds like an amazing night! I remember seeing you at gigs there. I wonder who did the Tom Waits night. I did some Sugar Town DJ nights there booked by Sara Sherr, one with Paradise Island, which was Jenny Hoyston from Erase Errata, and a couple others. Didn’t you DJ there at some point though? Maybe not regular recurring DJ night, but I thought I saw you DJ there at some point!

Joel had that night, shall we call it "Rock T*TS". All-vinyl rock. I did that a few times. I had a monthly with a bunch of Spaceboy guys at the 700 Club for years...

I remember yakking with John Stanley and Jack M and you back at Spaceboy not long after you moved back East and Jack did some nights at La Tazza with my upstairs neighbor at the time, Karen Jagelle! Maybe I’m thinking of you DJing with Jack Monaghan

Yeah! At 700! Right! Okay, I spent a lot of time there back then!

Modern Drunkard magazine had a great piece with Rick D. Cocktail culture independent publication with some really fun articles n features. I think the author went to Phila and hung out w Rick for 24 hrs or so all night long involved. And they tested out a special micro filter gadget with cheap booze.

And then Karen J and Jack had some event at La Tazza. I guess Karen DJed and Jack’s band Tremolo played. Wow, loooong ago memories!

Yeah, me and jack were running buddies in the day, I lived a couple blocks from him and Melissa...

Yeah, I did the after hours thing with Rick a couple times, the kind of wild times I don't have often anymore...

Karen was so nice, I hear from her sometimes, and she did an event with Jack and later helped put out Rob Mazurek’s albums, so she put me in touch with him and he did a live set on Doubleplusgood with Black Goat Ensemble ages ago

Space Boy- Where basically all of my income went in my early adulthood!

Being able to sort through every one of Spaceboy's new releases (I did a newsletter at one time) was a great experience...

Saw Bobby Zankel's Big Band at Tritone quite a bit. Love that big band sound vibrating through your body live...

Rob M & Steve Swell were so nice and then their van broke down after the set when they were trying to leave the station! I felt so bad for them! They had to bunk down in Princeton for the night! Rob not long after played Silk City in support of his Frankenstein album and gave me a buncha while records while there, which was really nice. Love those guys!

The other half of Chicago Underground, Chad Taylor seems like an easy-going guy as well...

I run into John Stanley & Robert Drake around town all the time, but I wonder whatever happened to Spaceboy Scott ?

A friend once introduced me to a guy by saying, "This is the guy who plays Cecil Taylor on the air at 12 noon!"

Spaceboy Scott undoubtedly suffered some "major Tom" like fate...

I've performed it in my house solo numerous times. Often on trash night.

Another band almost did Hey Ya for fun. That is a slight challenge. I think that is a 22 beat pattern (or 2 11s). Count it as 5 measures of 4/4 and then a measure of 2/4 for best results i think

I was listening to the disc with the harmonica player last night and realized I really don't like jazz harmonica...

Parker exhibited a very sly sense of humor during the time we spent together (we drove up and back from Philly). He also talked about falling in love with foreign cinema as a kid, he said The Bronx was the very last stopping point for foreign prints that played all the other boroughs first...

I second Clamour Pat’s sentiment about the artist testimonials! They’re a lot of fun to hear interspersed throughout the show!

Tying to thread together, I REALLY like jazz harmonica, particularly Toots Thielemanns, forever mesmerized by his playing on the closing theme of ....Sesame Street.

That is a mean lean funky band the Sesame Street Band.

Sesame Street and some of the guests on 3-2-1 Contact (one episode in particular where Susan Ciani demonstrated a Buchla synth) absolutely influenced my music tastes! That bizarre gentle experiment cow song from early Sesame Street years and a terse song that scared by enthralled me with their segment about a steel beam factory- I think that 30 second piece is deeply imprinted on my brain!

one station ID that didn't make it to our home studio ID stash that i love is dismemberment plan's one about how great wprb is

To be honest, I like Laurie Spiegel synth compositions more, as far as female synth composer contemporaries, but Ciani pulled me into that world first when her appearance on public television. First time I ever saw a women playing a synth, and this was a big Buchla synth from the 70s. I thought it was so cool!

It wasn’t a music easel, as cool as those are, because I they have a distinct and colorful look. It may have been a 700, though those came out in the 80s. That episode felt like a 70s rerun when I saw it in the 80s, but could’ve been new

I love Susan’s live shows. Truly sublime sounds. Langabeer with Alcorn was excellent too back in the BeforeTimes. That March 3rd livestream had Susan solo and then Rosie L & Neil Feather live from Rosie’s blissfully Covid-free native New Zealand...so jealous but didn’t stop me from enjoying their performance!

Saw some great Mark Feldman and Sylvie Courvoisier shows there shortly before it moved to the New School. Looking forward to going to the New School Stone location again when it’s safe!
