Nature's got to have something up its sleeve this year. A lanternfly-cicada summer of warfare would be a clash of titans.

I've noticed that in recent years, the invasive tent caterpillars' population has diminished greatly.

Ooo, there's one. An image search strikes me as critters I saw in childhood but not lately, so you may be right.

Once their numbers got really bad, a virus developed on its own and killed them off.

Graphic warming: my hero of the small critters world, the praying mantis, sometimes pop up near the front of our home. Couple years ago. I saw a p.m. decapitate and devour a couple lantern flies in minutes. I wanted to reward them. But just wished them well.

Our true samurai overlords. I love bugs but am thankful every day that I'm not one.

i have indeed begun designing a shirt that is the "SUMMER 2021 SHOWDOWN HOEDOWN" between spotted lanternflies and brood x cicadas

Toshimaru Nakmura's technique reminds me of Kit Watkins' "Thought Tones" from 1991. Some pieces were created using analog flangers placed in a continuous feedback loop, adjusted, and left to their own devices.
