Esoterica, I must say I have been a little apprehensive about tuning in after hearing AC/DC on your program about a month ago. It just totally disoriented my mind space as to what I expect to hear from WPRB. I'm sure I was not the only musical snob within those in the air that said oh my gawd.

I remember when I got sober driving around on New Year's Eve taking my daughter and her friends to various parties and places, and being stopped by the police three times and almost feeling happy I was stopped!

They do for a time that's for sure. I had a daughter and unfortunately saw how soon peer pressure and life can turn on a young female

Esoterica, regarding kiss... They are not good people. A girl I knew from high school was sexually abused by their crew back around 1977, and I can tell you some stories about what a hideous person gene and that outfit is

Here's a brief recap of one, since this might not be the place I'll keep it brief.

Casablanca records goes bankrupt. Warehouse and storage items become available from a storage unit. Al Munson and Richie Ranno, guitarist of the Casablanca band stars with a z by a bunch of kiss costumes and instruments That the band is not using since they are now out of makeup

Alan Ritchie start a string of kiss conventions that ran all around the country, with the Kiss museum showcasing their acquisition. Peter and Paul both play with their respective bands at different shows with these outfits in the background

They are aware they are there, when kiss decides to get in costume again they get a warrant of arrest for these guys for stealing their merchandise. Big expensive legal case, these guys would not have been showcasing boots, instruments, etc to the public if they thought there was something wrong

Anyway kiss got all their s*** back and instead of doing the right thing and saying I'd like to thank these guys for saving our heritage and not allowing it to be dispersed since Al or Richie wouldn't sell anything, they went the opposite way and called them thieves

So Al was the ultimate kiss fan and ended up with multiple sclerosis. He was crushed by the fact that Gene and Paul thought he was a thief. And about a month before he died, the family stage they phony phone call where Gene called Al up and apologized for calling him a thief and thanked him for saving all their stuff

I still have things from that collection that Al had gotten out of the garbage. All that stuff would have been gone if it wasn't for these dedicated fans that loved those knuckleheads. And that was their reward

Wes Anderson's staging is like something you would do in a high school play but done to a high level of competence. And it works. People stand stiffly and enunciate, the end result is something you're thinking about 5 days later

Not a musical but a great PRB memory that I have mentioned before: driving home at night from N Jersey back to Bucks Co, PA I tuned in and WPRB was playing the entire old record of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf. I stayed in the parking lot a while after we got home.... listening for more. Had just seen the film recently too. And have to at least once every couple years.

WPRB reception was strangely poor as I drove around Colts Neck over an hour ago, but I did catch mention of “Big Night” starring Minnie Driver (whatever happened to her?) and Lee Ving, who played an important part in the 1985 flop “Clue”. As far as I know, none of the few people who saw “Clue” liked it. Yet it’s recently been revived at movie houses as if it were some sort of a classic! How can it be a classic when, 36 years later, it still hasn’t earned back any of the money it lost?
