Cuckoo clocks are a fine bit of engineering, and typical of Germans to want to keep track of time.

I feel like German's would like being woken up every hour by a mechanical bird

I own one, but halted its operation since I don't want to hear the tiktiktiktik and intrusive cuckoo sound day and night.

Hi all! Pentangle recorded a much protracted version of 'The Coo-Coo Bird' with at least 3 verses. I mined that version for its tragic story of lost love when performing it with my friend Peter Blanchette (playing accompaniment on his archguitar) in a concert in March 2012. It was a lot of fun, and I'd like to believe there wasn't a dry eye left in the house, but that would be an exaggeration certainly! Also -- Coo-coo clocks = a novelty item that loses its charm quickly = Wegman's rooster

Amazing what you can find on eBay! Last week, I mentioned this old mansion in Cummington, MA where I spent 2 summers in 1969 and 1970. The mansion was also being sold on eBay! So freaky!!!
