David Shortell 12:38:42 PM
I saw “Carousel” a few years ago at the multiplex in Hazlet. ‘Twas one of those Fathom events that theatrically revives classic movies. I haven’t seen any Fathom events since the virus hit, but I’ve lately attended a similar series of events, called Flashback Cinema, at a Toms River multiplex (though I missed “Citizen Kane” last week, consarn it!).
David Shortell 12:38:46 PM
I may not have fully appreciated “Carousel” but I’ll watch anything with Shirley Jones in it, except for that Cowsills-based 70’s sitcom. After one song finished, I heard a man in the back rows cry out “All right, Gordon!”
Mark 12:40:00 PM
crowley disciple ken anger : lucifer rising / bobby b soundtrack:) !
Esoterica (host) 12:40:38 PM
yes!
Esoterica (host) 12:40:52 PM

David Shortell 12:42:33 PM
Didn’t Kenneth Anger also play the kidnapped fairy-boy in the 1930’s film version of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”?
Esoterica (host) 12:43:05 PM
what?? really!
Esoterica (host) 12:43:17 PM
i will have to check out
-ᎷяMΔᏞᏨØИᎢΞNᎢ-💀 12:43:55 PM

David Shortell 12:46:38 PM
If you plan to check it out, I must warn you: Mickey Rooney’s atrocious performance as Robin Goodfellow will make your skin crawl.
Esoterica (host) 12:47:08 PM

Mark 12:47:33 PM

Stevie P 1:03:07 PM
nice
Owen Davis 1:04:57 PM
didn't hear you mention this on air but this is apparently Donald Trump's favorite song.
David Shortell 1:05:02 PM
The lonely woman in “After Hours” was played by Verna Bloom (“Medium Cool”, “High Plains Drifter”, “Animal House”).
Mark 1:05:13 PM
coulda also gone pj version in basquiat :)
Owen Davis 1:05:23 PM
sorry if you said it and I didn't hear!
Esoterica (host) 1:06:31 PM

yes david! love verna bloom! i need to watch those films!
Mark 1:07:58 PM
high plains an all time great !
Owen Davis 1:08:27 PM
it's the most depressing and revealing fact I know about DJT. His favorite song is about how life in meaningless so we should just drink and dance...and he neither drinks nor dances
Brian D 1:08:43 PM
James Dickey. Good book
David Shortell 1:10:11 PM
I missed Nancy Sinatra when she played about two decades ago at Maxwell’s in Hoboken, her daddy’s hometown. The opening act was an underground NYC band I fondly remember: The Hissyfits (I still have a couple of their cassette tapes).
Brian D 1:10:30 PM
John Boorman director of Deliverance and Excalibur still with us I see.
Mark 1:10:50 PM
this music not to be confused w dueling Brando’s which we discussed :)
Brian D 1:12:04 PM
...she looked at me as if I were a bug...
David Shortell 1:14:24 PM
I haven’t seen the movie “Oliver!” in ages. I understand the boy star’s singing parts were dubbed by some adult woman! Davy Jones played the Artful Dodger in the play’s West End production, then in the Broadway production (which was showcased on the Ed Sullivan Show on the same date the Beatles debuted there). Understudies in the West End production included Phil Collins and Steve Marriot.
Mark 1:17:46 PM
wow & the marriot guest appearances in his bio r amazing/ what a tragic ending :(
David Shortell 1:22:59 PM
The first movie John Boorman directed was “Having a Wild Weekend” starring the Dave Clark Five. I assumed it was a ripoff of “A Hard Day’s Night” before I finally saw it on TCM---but the Five really do ACT in the movie, playing characters that are apparently not musicians!
Stevie P 1:23:34 PM
Gotta add that to my watchlist, David.
Brian D 1:24:00 PM
Eric Weissberg played it for Deliverance (RIP 2020). Along with Steve Mandell. The Earl Scruggs version is great too
Christine {¤_θ}° 1:24:08 PM
Re: John Boorman, I'm now (unfortunately) thinking about ZARDOZ...
Brian D 1:25:58 PM
His son Charlie Boorman did some cool around the world motorcycle trips with Ewan McGregor. As well as his crazy creepy child role as Mordred in Excalibur
Mark 1:26:12 PM
haha christine/ unfortunately u brought up those memories for me / maybe connerys worst movie:(
Esoterica (host) 1:27:43 PM
wow, bri!
Brian D 1:31:51 PM
Johnny Paycheck episode is crazy.
Mark 1:32:12 PM
hmmm i gotta see that Episode / maybe able to fact check some the rick James stuff! :)
David Shortell 1:32:38 PM
Superintendent Chalmers dressed up as Zardoz in a Halloween episode of "The Simpsons".
Esoterica (host) 1:33:16 PM
it is crazy, bri!
Christine {¤_θ}° 1:35:21 PM
@David, OMG I just had to look that up! 😄 Zed cosplay is definitely not for the faint of heart.
Esoterica (host) 1:41:40 PM

Stevie P 1:42:17 PM

Stevie P 1:42:40 PM
Same time next week? :-)
Christine {¤_θ}° 1:43:21 PM
Bye, DJ E!
Brian D 1:43:45 PM

Mark 1:45:05 PM

Mark 1:45:43 PM
tho u could appoint a chat monitor:)
Esoterica (host) 1:46:14 PM
thx, all! i can stay for ten
David Shortell 1:50:59 PM
Was “Zardoz” Sir Sean’s worst film? Consider the cinematic remake of the 60’s British TV show “The Avengers” or his final film before he quit acting: “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen”, which caused the book’s author Alan Moore to insist he not be credited for any following film adaptations of his work!
Mark 1:51:28 PM
hope to hear restaurants reviews next week / I’m gonna check out chat recommendations luhv tonite:)
Esoterica (host) 1:58:47 PM
