Readie Righteous Recurring Donor! (host) 5:04:54 PM
Hidey ho!!
Alan Pasnyk 5:05:17 PM
Welcome back Readie!
Readie Righteous Recurring Donor! (host) 5:06:14 PM
Thanks Alan! Good to be back - and much love to Kat for a tremendous program plus last week!
Readie Righteous Recurring Donor! (host) 5:08:08 PM
I have to say I love Renée Reed and I have got to dive into her oeuvre!!!
Alan Pasnyk 5:08:17 PM
Gotta tell ya Readie, Thanks for playing '39 near the end of your last show, caught it on the FM, and yes it was a sing - along.
Readie Righteous Recurring Donor! (host) 5:09:08 PM
Yeah! And the "live" video of that with Roger on tambourine is super cool!
Alan Pasnyk 5:11:09 PM
The story is that you played it about 10 years ago as a request that I made back then, i played the tape that I made of that show and the big topic was about this bike racer named Armstrong!!
Readie Righteous Recurring Donor! (host) 5:11:53 PM
Wow, I was just gonna say- I'm pretty sure it was you who requested that! Memories!
Alan Pasnyk 5:12:50 PM
That track is about Time Dilation, long story but it's real special to me...
Readie Righteous Recurring Donor! (host) 5:14:02 PM
As I understand it, it has a space travel theme?
Alan Pasnyk 5:14:44 PM
Yes.
Readie Righteous Recurring Donor! (host) 5:15:58 PM
Dr. Brian May- astrophysicist! That man is sooo cool
Alan Pasnyk 5:17:08 PM
He was divided between music and astrophysics as a career.
Alan Pasnyk 5:17:58 PM
This was in an interview by writer Timothy Ferris
Readie Righteous Recurring Donor! (host) 5:18:18 PM
I think he got his doctorate AFTER he was already in Queen for some time.
Alan Pasnyk 5:19:43 PM
From what I know every member of that band has a doctorate or MS degree...
Readie Righteous Recurring Donor! (host) 5:21:29 PM
I would not be surprised. I was fortunate to have seen them live MANY times- Freddie - incredible
Rob from Maryland 5:23:55 PM
Bryan May got his doctorate in 2007
Rob from Maryland 5:24:03 PM
And hi everyone
Rob from Maryland 5:24:21 PM
@Alan, I didn't know that about Queen
Readie Righteous Recurring Donor! (host) 5:24:28 PM
Oh wow- thanks Rob- and I didn't realize it was that recent!
Rob from Maryland 5:25:25 PM
@Readie sure & for some reason I thought it was more recent (I looked it up on wikipedia)
Rob from Maryland 5:25:56 PM
BTW I'm watching a live videocast and not listening to the station
Alan Pasnyk 5:26:18 PM
It's a very sad story about this guy who travels to the stars and back, time dilation when he returns home many more years have passed, his wife is gone but he sees her eyes in his daughter's eyes...
Readie Righteous Recurring Donor! (host) 5:27:06 PM
Yeah, Brian May is very sentimental and sweet, an animal and environmental activist as well
Readie Righteous Recurring Donor! (host) 5:29:01 PM
@Rob-mI should play Greta Thunberg's "How DARE You!" for not listening to WPRB, lol
Rob from Maryland 5:30:33 PM
You should! I'll be there in a little more than half an hour
Readie Righteous Recurring Donor! (host) 5:31:12 PM
haha only jivin'
Rob from Maryland 5:31:44 PM
;-)
Readie Righteous Recurring Donor! (host) 5:32:55 PM
This is the kind of music I used to play as a wee child, and my mom used to say, "STOP BANGIN' ON THAT THING!"
Readie Righteous Recurring Donor! (host) 5:34:43 PM
And when I say "play", I mean actually perform...
Readie Righteous Recurring Donor! (host) 5:36:34 PM
This jawn is amazing in headphones
Alan Pasnyk 5:48:53 PM
This Xymox is sort of setting the mood as the skies here in Philly are getting darker and cloudy
Bud Burroughs 5:49:34 PM
Those first two Clan of Xymox albums are so good! I didn't know the Peel sessions existed.
Brian D 5:53:22 PM
sounding great tonight Readie
Alan Pasnyk 6:01:46 PM
Helluva way to run a space program!!!
Bud Burroughs 6:03:44 PM
Space junk is annoying, but this band is fantastic: https://spacejunkisforever.bandcamp.com/
Readie Righteous Recurring Donor! (host) 6:08:31 PM
Thanks, @Brian! Good to see everyone!
Rob from Maryland 6:09:52 PM
Is everyone ready for the space debris late tomorrow night?
Readie Righteous Recurring Donor! (host) 6:10:16 PM
who will be lucky enough to see it?
Rob from Maryland 6:11:15 PM
I'm not staying up so the only way I'll see it is if it knocks on the door
Readie Righteous Recurring Donor! (host) 6:12:55 PM
someone will capture it no doubt
Rob from Maryland 6:13:29 PM
https://twitter.com/AerospaceCorp has a pinned tweet with info on expected re-entry time
Rob from Maryland 6:14:23 PM
which is currently about 2 pm eastern USA time
Readie Righteous Recurring Donor! (host) 6:14:28 PM
Cool
Rob from Maryland 6:19:02 PM
It looks like the first pass/orbit will take it over the mid-Atlantic heading southeast. I don't know how long it takes to make a complete orbit. The next pass over the US would bring it over South Carolina
Rob from Maryland 6:19:47 PM
But there's still a lot of uncertainty
Alan Pasnyk 6:20:05 PM
Space.com reports it will fall into the Indian ocean
Readie Righteous Recurring Donor! (host) 6:22:46 PM
How long before something very bad happens? what about the dinosaurs?
Readie Righteous Recurring Donor! (host) 6:23:00 PM
are we next?
Rob from Maryland 6:23:08 PM
Alan, that's the same map on Twitter. I had the impression that was when it would re-enter the lower atmosphere and continue to orbit
Rob from Maryland 6:23:58 PM
*round the earth until it burned up/actually hit the surface. I hope your interpretation is correct!
Alan Pasnyk 6:24:30 PM
I guess it depends on the Direction it's headed....
Rob from Maryland 6:24:40 PM
I dunno Readie, maybe the dinosaurs will go extinct
Rob from Maryland 6:26:27 PM
I like this Quietus piece
Readie Righteous Recurring Donor! (host) 6:35:50 PM
Maybe so, but then, what a way to go...blown up in a space junk maelstrom
Readie Righteous Recurring Donor! (host) 6:36:42 PM
The Quietus piece is like the soundtrack of my recent hospital stay lol
Rob from Maryland 6:42:54 PM
@Readie, yikes! I trust that things are better now
Alan Pasnyk 6:46:20 PM
Poor Readie! But she's back like a trooper :) :)
Bud Burroughs 6:46:42 PM
I've had one kidney stone in my life. That was enough!
Rob from Maryland 6:56:10 PM
Oh man, Readie, I'm sorry to hear about your kidney stone!
Readie Righteous Recurring Donor! (host) 6:56:22 PM
Yeah, thanks guys- things are better...want to get into prevention mode now!
Rob from Maryland 6:56:24 PM
And Brad as well
Rob from Maryland 6:57:06 PM
Prevention is better than the alternative
Readie Righteous Recurring Donor! (host) 6:58:43 PM
Yeah, it's tricky! I have hereditary diadvantage on both sides....
Alan Pasnyk 7:02:46 PM
Ok, so I checked out a few of the space-junk sites and the short story is that the chinese rocket will re-enter between 3AM and 2PM tomorrow anywhere between 40 degrees N to 40 degrees S...So glad I narrowed it down...all the maps look like spaghetti !!!!!
Readie Righteous Recurring Donor! (host) 7:04:20 PM
So, Alan, where is that on the blue marble?
Alan Pasnyk 7:05:12 PM
Truth be told ANYWHERE between 40 N and 40 S
Alan Pasnyk 7:05:55 PM
The upper Earth atmosphere has unpredictable density fluctuations
Alan Pasnyk 7:09:12 PM
Best bet is to listen to Gabriel and chill.....
Readie Righteous Recurring Donor! (host) 7:09:50 PM
yup
Rob from Maryland 7:15:23 PM
Alan, I had read it was 3 am UTC *Sunday* which is 11 pm Saturday here in New Jersey & Maryland
Alan Pasnyk 7:31:54 PM
Thanks Rob, But it's not just the time, but the where, and all prediction maps as of now are "out to lunch", as far as I can tell, the closer we get to "crashdown" time the more accurate. Hopefully most of it will burn up...
Matthew Maginley 7:35:21 PM
Tony Levin is the Boss of Bass. Work with King Crimson is legendary.
Matthew Maginley 7:38:35 PM
