Bo 6:14:39 PM
Good evening John!
John Weingart (host) 6:17:16 PM
Hi Bo
Bo 6:18:42 PM
I'm sensing a theme
Bo 6:20:11 PM
Uh oh!!!
Bo 6:22:07 PM
The stylus must be old on this record
Bill Bolger 6:23:24 PM
This piece (Blizzard of Lies) isn't coming across on the air but is on line.
Bo 6:23:37 PM
Maybe its the blizzard of lies ;))
Bo 6:24:10 PM
All better now!
Ryan 6:27:13 PM
Hey john, long time listener first time chatter. Can i throw a request in the mix? Beeswing-Richard Thompson, or if you want something within todays theme maybe Liar-Mumford and sons
Bo 6:33:52 PM
Earth to John, come in John!
Brian D 6:36:05 PM
For the next liar theme set Violent Femmes "Lies" a fun version that segues from studio to live jarrinlgly but just right. And there's electric balalaika or bouzouki or some such instrument. Great show John. I love your show all year round but there's something special about Sunday eves when the light stays a bit longer...
John Weingart (host) 6:38:04 PM
Hi Brian and Ryan - Great suggestions for another week. Thanks.
Ryan 6:41:38 PM
Sounds good! Sure you got a great show for us tonight, thanks for the music friend
Richard from Rocky Hill 6:46:33 PM
"Yo-Yo's Ma" was beyond hilarious. Thanks!
Brian D 6:47:37 PM
I had to look it up. David Wiffen is the writer of Drivin Wheel. Heard that done by some great acts over the years on record and at festivals.
Brian D 6:48:30 PM
Beautiful song here...
John Weingart (host) 6:50:04 PM
Yo-Yo's Ma just sitting out there all these years waiting for someone to write it.
Bo 6:50:42 PM
This really resonates with me.
Ryan 6:52:24 PM
Wow that was a great one
Bo 6:52:46 PM
Great song.
Rob from Maryland 7:18:56 PM
"if I was White-Crowned Sparrow" ... not something this birder ever expects to hear in a song! (Wheels of Laredo)
Bo 7:19:59 PM
@Rob, real pretty song.
Rob from Maryland 7:23:12 PM
Bo, it is a pretty song. I should buy that record...
Kevin Dulin 7:25:59 PM
Two Wheel Drive and Big Wheel, that's a one-two knockout, incredible set tonight
Bo 7:26:08 PM
@Rob, maybe you should, there are worso ones!
Bo 7:26:29 PM
*worse
sean burns 7:32:12 PM
I saw Peter Rowan at the wind Gap bluegrass festival back around 1982 or so
sean burns 7:33:35 PM
It was a good time, camping in a nice location with campfire jams going on all night long
Bo 7:35:51 PM
@sean, sounds like it was! :)
sean burns 7:38:41 PM
Peter Rowan and his lost Mexican Air Force or whatever he was calling his group at the time had played out in California, up in the weed growers territory, at the Ukiah harvest festival. You can imagine what the harvest was...
sean burns 7:39:20 PM
I had friends in the area associated with that harvest festival and my buddy told me he was paid in sensimilla which be fits the theme of the festival.
sean burns 7:40:42 PM
Sorry I keep hitting the send before I mean to... Anyway things were very loose and informal at wind Gap, and I got to talk with Peter Rowan for a bit after his set and told him I heard he had just played at the Ukiah festival. And he looked me in the eye and he says "you got anything to show me?"
Bo 7:42:52 PM
@sean burns, great story :))
Rob from Maryland 7:44:47 PM
@Bo, I actually held the High(way)women cd in my hand at my local indie bookstore in DC yesterday...If only I had heard this song before then, I would have bought it. A friend who loves Jason Isbell and similar loves this cd, and since I am liking Isbell, I think I will like that cd
Bo 7:47:10 PM
@Rob, I reckon you will make a return visit to said bookstore some time soon.
John Weingart (host) 7:49:53 PM
I can't keep up but am delighted to see this conversation ongoing
Bo 7:51:11 PM
No worries John, thank you for the beautiful music!
Rob from Maryland 7:51:32 PM
@Bo, you are right about that
Rob from Maryland 7:58:52 PM
@John, I enjoyed this show.
John Weingart (host) 7:59:25 PM
Barry Mitterhoff, the great NJ mandolinist, played with Rowan abck then.
