How faithful is this Turkish Spidey flick, Dylan? Did it have a Turkish Aunt May, a Turkish Flash Thompson and a Turkish J. Jonah Jameson?

I wanted to share a film that isn't quite a European rip-off of a specific American film, but really captures how a French director "sees" American noir tropes and American city life. I couldn't remember the name of the film or the 'regisseur' at first so I had to search the internets a bit. And I found it! "Two Men in Manhattan" (1959) directed by Jean-Pierre Melville. It's not really 'good', but it's fascinating in how Melville views NYC nightlife and its characters in the late 1950s.

Re Mida is Italian for King Midas

And Italian pronounces the "g" in Agente like English. ah JEN tay. They don't do that Spanish g to h sound thing

'G' followed by 'e' or 'i' is pronounced like the the 'g' in 'gentle' and 'giant', but 'gu' sounds like 'gw' would in English; like the band 'Gwar'. And 'gh' sounds like the 'g' in 'girl' or 'Gershwin'. 'Gn' however sounds like an 'n' with a tilde in Spanish -- Ñ/ñ

Oh I love this Hildegard Von Bingen cd! I haven't listened to it in ages! Hopefully, it's still retrievable, in one of the travelling cases from many, many past changes of address.

Last year there was a workshop of a Hildegard musical at Princeton that was really interesting but Kinda too Hamilton-ish
