Were you able to hear Deirdre's show Dylan? The Native American/ country rock tunes were great in one of the sets
Dylan (host) 3:10:33 PM
Okay
Dylan (host) 3:11:20 PM
I wasn't, but I did catch the thing about Jim Sullivan, which is weird considering that the pentagon is basically about to announce that aliens are real.
-ᎷяMΔᏞᏨØИᎢΞNᎢ-💀 3:12:01 PM
illegal aliens???
Brian D 3:12:10 PM
A nice companion show today. I mean always a grand time here and Deirdre's but especially good segue today. Some Africa music at end of their show
Dylan (host) 3:12:57 PM
No, like 60 minutes just did a thing about UFOs

-ᎷяMΔᏞᏨØИᎢΞNᎢ-💀 3:13:50 PM
Speaking of aliens 👽
Dylan (host) 3:14:22 PM

-ᎷяMΔᏞᏨØИᎢΞNᎢ-💀 3:29:33 PM
Only to make fun of it, DaveTheObscure!
Brian D 3:29:55 PM

-ᎷяMΔᏞᏨØИᎢΞNᎢ-💀 3:30:02 PM
Oh I missed that one, Brian D
Brian D 3:30:54 PM
But the Appalachia one was better. And then there's Mike Judge Tales from the Tour Bus
David Shortell 3:32:07 PM
I’ve never listened to The Lights Are On But Everyone's Home With Deirdre Dionysiac, but the description of its latest broadcast is interesting. Too bad it doesn’t appear to be archived anywhere. Is it?
-ᎷяMΔᏞᏨØИᎢΞNᎢ-💀 3:32:27 PM
The Appalachia one was about music specifically??
Brian D 3:32:54 PM
Such a fun show! Deirdre has treasures. Always new discoveries
Brian D 3:35:00 PM
Now that i search... i am not sure what the name of that docu was or if it specifically had "Appalachian " word in title .... i know it had 4 parts and the Carter Fam was featured a lot in 1st part....
-ᎷяMΔᏞᏨØИᎢΞNᎢ-💀 3:35:34 PM

"The Mountain Minor" was a film i really enjoyed too. A movie but feels like a doc too.. real musicians perform. Great story of Old-Time Music and multi generations in Appalachia
Dylan (host) 3:38:18 PM
The Mountain "Minor?"
-ᎷяMΔᏞᏨØИᎢΞNᎢ-💀 3:39:01 PM

Brian D 3:52:44 PM
Ralph just kept going... so glad i got to see him a bunch
-ᎷяMΔᏞᏨØИᎢΞNᎢ-💀 3:52:54 PM
Oh! Excellent!! I just bought the cd box set of American Epic. Yet to see the documentary. I didn’t think that’s what you were referring to with just Appalachia as the only clue. 😜 Thanks, Brian D!
David Shortell 3:53:49 PM
I saw most of Ken Burns’ country music documentary. Nick Tosches’ first book “Country: The Biggest Music in America” was important in winning over my Northern suburban self to that genre I once disdained. I remember how, when I first listened to the WFMU show “Music to Spazz By” three decades ago, I thought it was crazy that DJ Dave the Spazz mixed in country with punk and soul. Now it makes perfect sense to me.
-ᎷяMΔᏞᏨØИᎢΞNᎢ-💀 3:53:51 PM

Brian D 3:55:06 PM
I have to go back and re watch.... i don't know if i saw pt 3 yet... technically it's 3 parts. The "4th part" was a live session w artists today honoring the music represented in the series
-ᎷяMΔᏞᏨØИᎢΞNᎢ-💀 3:58:52 PM
Wikipedia rabbit holes make me more BoNkErS than necessary. I like looking at lists of music or movies or tv shows from 1993 or other magical years. Or maybe populations of countries and random weird chit like that, such as, et cetera. Tell us about your fave Wikipedia rabbit holes, DJ DylanFox!!!

What’s all this talk about the Pentagon and extraterrestrials? I missed that in the news. I did see this good gag on The Simpsons last night though: a newspaper headline read: “Pentagon loses side in budget cut. Now square.”
-ᎷяMΔᏞᏨØИᎢΞNᎢ-💀 4:00:33 PM

There was a great bluegrass venue there called down home, started by a local musician named Ed snodderly who has gone on to consult on or score films like o brother where art thou. That was a home to some real bluegrass. One time David Bromberg played a concert locally and then came over to town home after the show to just play some more. I remember him saying every time I play a big place like whatever that was that he played in it's so I can come and play at places like this

I remember how hip UFO’s became when I was a kid in the 70’s (earlier if you consider the ABC series “The Invaders”). There was the 1970 ITC series “UFO”, the 1978 NBC series “Project U.F.O.” and of course “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”. I remember people taking Erich von Däniken’s “Chariots of the Gods?” seriously, though It’s since been debunked (but at least it inspired Jack Kirby’s great series “The Eternals”).
