I did a dream group on zoom over the past year where we talked about our night dreams

oooh how did it go?

It was super interesting. We'd break the dream down into symbols and dynamics then do associations with them to get a sense for what the dream might have to tell you

very cool stuff! dreams are so so interesting to me, and they're still such a mystery to scientists

We came at it from a belief of "the dream comes to tell you something you don't conciously know". You'd always end up with something supre personal and usually relevant to your life atm

I bet! and if your dreams were as strange as mine, they were probably a doozy to decipher

Sometimes I wish there was more of a science to it hahaha. It was so much work to try and decipher them but I believe they're so important, too! So it becomes a bit of a chore tbh haha

A fun bit of trivia: I once read that the earliest known example of advertising is an inscription from ancient Egypt that declares, "I Interpret Dreams by God's Command" ! I've been unsuccessful in finding the original source reference, but if I do I'll let you know.

Writing dreams down is a cool practice to have, if you don't already

@TYrannousaurus I used to try doing that, but I would forget my dreams too quickly, so I would start making up new dreams just to write something down!

Writing down dreams immediately after waking is a good way to commit them to longer term memory. Otherwise, dreams tend to evaporate quickly.

My wife had a great insight in a dream a few weeks ago, so she wrote it down. It was "The word 'ape' can be used in either the beginning or end of a sentence, and it means the same thing"

The insight was less impressive in the light of day.

Hahahaha there's still a profoundness there for sure. I would ask what an ape is to her, as well as a sentence

😂 I feel like all of the dream and night thought journals I kept sounded a little bit more like that than I would like to admit

Deep dream theory suggests that you can't possibly "make something up" that isn't worth analyzing as if it were a dream if your own

I have had recurring dreams that I am flipping through bins of LPs in a used record store.

She can still feel the thrill of discovery when she thinks about it.

Dave, I've had the same dream! Usually, I'm pulling incredible gems out of a $1 bin.

🙉 David Sylvian has a "Sleepwalkers" tune, but it would need several edits to comply with FCC language restrictions. 🙉

those pesky restrictions do get in the way of some good songs unfortunately 😭 and the frustrating part is there is no published list of what is and isn't okay, we just have give it a guess and hope for the best! but we all make it through haha

I think article 240 section 3.2.3 states that if you just announce "earmuffs" before each instance of cursing then you're covered

I could never get bored hearing about space. Discovering new planets, thinking about the beginning and expansion of the universe, learning about space flight and mineral mining... all so fascinating. but I'll never get to explore outer space.... only in my dreams!
