Brian D 10:14:45 AM
Gibby!
Tom 10:14:45 AM
I think that's it Jen
Jen (host) 10:16:51 AM
gibby shooey, i say potato....
Brian D 10:22:15 AM
every year or so i have to watch the butthole surfers video for Mexican Caravan. Love that
Jen (host) 10:22:47 AM
I love that this is a yearly ritual
uno clay 10:22:55 AM
im gonna start saying Shoey-kool. thats pretty great. Short unrelated story, i had a boss who once insisted you say "seitan" ....."SEE-TIN". Her evidence was that she claimed to know the people who "invented it in the 60s". I think she was pathological
Jen (host) 10:25:25 AM
Hah that's good! I guess that she was thinking of seitan at all was cool, unless you just worked in a vegetarian restaurant...
uno clay 10:26:47 AM
the insane thing was, both she and i were vegetarian. Its how it came up. She seemed ominously threatening when i challenged her pronunciation. In honor of that memory, my wife and i still say it that way to this day
Brian D 10:26:50 AM
i first discovered right around the same time i found an effect add on for you tube videos where you start the video, turn on the add on, then you can create infinite image "trails" with your mouse. LYousergic Tube
Brian D 10:27:33 AM
I forget what the effect or add on was called... some book mark on old computer
Jen (host) 10:27:48 AM
@uno: SEE-tin or see-TIN? I've always enjoyed hassling people with SATAN, myself.
Jen (host) 10:28:12 AM
@Brian: whoa, i had no idea youtube add-ons existed, but of course, why not? awesome
Brian D 10:28:27 AM
What does plant based protein regret mean dad....
Jen (host) 10:29:17 AM
Hahahah!
Jen (host) 10:29:36 AM
I haven’t heard that forever
uno clay 10:29:59 AM
SEE-tin. making it even funnier. Emphasize the SEE
Brian D 10:30:46 AM
I found some good add ons when i was a gtr teacher for slowing or speeding the video in smaller decimal increments as opposed to the very limited 25, 50, 75 etc % that yt has as default in the "gear / flower/ wheel" settings
Brian D 10:32:06 AM
Slowing usually was helpful for the kids. And of course as a treat for the kids.... we'd SPEEED UP the videos and listen to the crazy audio
Tom 10:32:32 AM
ALVIN ! ,lol
Brian D 10:33:41 AM
Always turn the screen away or fold the lid down... just audio only kids... don't look at the screen ha ... most of the vids i found were just static lp cover images anyway
Brian D 10:34:50 AM
Yea total chipmunk moment Tom!
Colin McDonnell 10:35:50 AM
Brian D most youtubeyiest hack east of the skool-kill!

Jen (host) 10:37:59 AM

uno clay 10:42:35 AM
Aww i got the chills from john candy intersticial
Jen (host) 10:43:25 AM
Awwwww
Jen (host) 10:43:53 AM
Amazing how long he has been gone!
Mike Lupica 10:45:41 AM
Here for any and all Gun Club-related prophecies...
uno clay 10:45:47 AM
i typically struggle to enjoy "sincerity" in films but that one hits a sweet spot
Mike Lupica 10:47:01 AM
Oh, geez... this Nausea song conjures up everything about early 90s hardcore matinees. Suddenly, I am hungry for Food Not Bombs.
Jen (host) 10:48:54 AM
SEE-TIN, Mike??
Mike Lupica 10:50:06 AM
Hail Seitan!
Brian D 10:50:11 AM
Ween dedicated the lp Chocolate and Cheese to John Candy. He passed in 94 when they were recording that
Mike Lupica 10:52:27 AM
Not that you should click away from Jen's playlist, but the Sticks & Stones / World Inferno tribute playlist she just referenced is here: https://spinitron.com/WPRB/pl/13275836/The-Freeform-Pathogen
Mike Lupica 10:52:56 AM
Wish I could hang out longer, but gotta bang out for a Zoom call. Have a good weekend, all!
Colin McDonnell 10:53:20 AM
cheers mike!
Jen (host) 10:54:04 AM
thanks for the link, Mike! Do go check that out, friends!
Colin McDonnell 10:54:09 AM
i never knew that about choc and cheese bri. Makes total sense, surprised i missed that reference.
Colin McDonnell 10:54:58 AM
now I wanna watch john candy youtube videos with add-ons
Andrew Gruen 11:12:30 AM
when i was a teenager, it was this EP that made me realize that keyboards and punk could actually go together
Colin McDonnell 11:13:06 AM
tbh i'm only recently acquainting myself with sticks and stones. I've seen them on show flyers and definitly heard some songs over the radio over the years. these tributes have been great.
Jen (host) 11:14:13 AM
LOVE THAT, Andrew!
Colin McDonnell 11:14:23 AM
Punk rock synth can work very well. and punk rock saxophone.
Jen (host) 11:14:44 AM
it's all about the attitude
Colin McDonnell 11:15:56 AM
I just poured a second cup of coffee so I'll pour some of that out.
Andrew Gruen 11:16:28 AM
i remember striking up a conversation with pete at an abc no rio hardcore matinee after my girlfriend complimented his intensely blue hair. cool guy.
Andrew Gruen 11:17:51 AM
the x-ray spex proved that punk rock sax can definitely be a thing!
Jen (host) 11:21:52 AM
by all accounts, Pete was an upstanding dude. Pouring some out is the least we can do!
Jen (host) 11:24:20 AM
@Andrew, totally on X-Ray Spex!
uno clay 11:25:32 AM
GIZZZZZZ
uno clay 11:26:34 AM
sucks, they just moved their 2021 tour to 2022. Get this, people from a country where they've all but eliminated covid are skeptical about coming to a place where 40% of the people think vax is microchip mind control. And they dont even see that as a POSITIVE THING
Jen (host) 11:27:43 AM
who doesn't love a little mind control ;)
Colin McDonnell 11:29:42 AM
I wouldn't mind a little mind control. Especially if it guides me to decide what to eat. I sure can spin myself out with that.
uno clay 11:29:55 AM
Clippy is my friend
uno clay 11:30:11 AM
i dont know why i felt compelled to say that\
Jen (host) 11:30:28 AM
@Colin: https://whatthefuckshouldimakefordinner.com
Jen (host) 11:30:39 AM
@uno: are you ok?
Jen (host) 11:31:00 AM
;)
uno clay 11:31:22 AM
just since i got the vax, ive found a new love for my guiding light and Win 95 best friend, Clippy
Colin McDonnell 11:31:59 AM
omg. I just clicked and was like mmmmmm I never heard of Irish country chicken breast but it sure sounds good!
Andrew Gruen 11:32:04 AM
yeah, my kids were stoked to see them with me in brooklyn this year. they'll be back. can't really blame them for hesitating!
uno clay 11:33:00 AM
yeah i had pit tickets for that brooklyn canceled date. Was ready to mosh again, pandemic be d@#mned
Colin McDonnell 11:37:53 AM
Ha ha ha!!! my co-worker and other buddies from high school all played on that record and were about to go out on tour with her (blank) right before the pandemic. It all got put on hold.
Jen (host) 11:39:13 AM
wha...! really? great! maybe that's a sign of more to come!
Colin McDonnell 11:39:39 AM
I just messaged him on slack to see if more in in the works.
uno clay 11:40:02 AM
you arent late to the party, but we all need to stop talking about too much Gizzard, the shows are getting occasionally tough for tickets. Saw people shut out at the last 2 philly gigs
Colin McDonnell 11:42:21 AM
An album is done. The release and tour were shelved cause of the covi. Still in a holding pattern
fr1dayafternoon 11:42:46 AM
Dig this Axis:Sova. Didn’t know they had something new on the way. Something about their last LP I couldn’t get into though
Jen (host) 11:43:15 AM
wow right on, glad I asked! And @uno, good for them, but not until I see them myself.... ;) I think they just released another live album in the last couple if weeks to tide us over, at least!
Jen (host) 11:43:38 AM
@fr1dayafternoon - this EP is pretty great
Colin McDonnell 11:44:04 AM
love that guitar tone on the axis song.
Christine ✔Broodin' Gen X 11:45:00 AM
Damn work meeting! I missed King Gizzard...
Christine ✔Broodin' Gen X 11:46:39 AM
The audacity of these employers.
Jen (host) 11:47:57 AM
maybe they also like the rock?
Jen (host) 11:50:15 AM
meetings will run faster with a Gizzard soundtrack
Colin McDonnell 11:51:00 AM
lol @christine at the meeting "if we could pause for a few minutes to rock out to this king gizard song that would be great"
Jen (host) 11:53:25 AM
I figure everyone will talk faster. "Cool, let's wrap this up?"
Christine ✔Broodin' Gen X 11:54:04 AM
@Colin & Jen, I will try to add King Gizzard to the next agenda and see what the results are!
Jen (host) 11:54:32 AM
I LOVE this plan. Will also start incorporating into my staff meetings. HOW IS EVERYONE DOING TODAY??
fr1dayafternoon 11:54:33 AM
I couldn’t keep up with King Gizzard’s output and ultimately tapped out.
Brian D 11:56:07 AM
Great sounds Jen !
Tom 11:56:36 AM
have a great weekend !
fr1dayafternoon 11:57:28 AM
Plus, first time I saw them they opened for White Fence in Philly. Killer show but they were the opening act and played an encore after the crowd kept cheering for them, which I guess is understandable, but also seems like a major opening act faux pas.
fr1dayafternoon 11:58:19 AM
Seconded - great show today, Jen
Christine ✔Broodin' Gen X 11:58:49 AM
Thx, Jen! 🚦Have a great weekend all, and watch out for those red lights
Jen (host) 11:59:38 AM
@fr1dayafternoon: HAHAH seriously, we're at ~2 dozen or so? Funny about the encor
Jen (host) 11:59:53 AM
thanks, you guys! Have a terrific weekend!
