Time to kick off the sludge with a John Carpenter tribute

Mammoth storm whatever. They could all be spinal tap albums

Do people really take this music seriously or is this the kind of stuff you listen to ironically?

I take Demonic Death Judgement *very* seriously

Is this repetitious ri ff only annoying me or what

Welcome to sludge the realm of goofy heavy repetition

I sense a little irony there... But geez I've tried. I don't see the appeal after the first couple minutes. And I used to sit down and my friend's basement tripping and listening to King crimson's first album, Black Sabbath's first album, and Credence Clearwater

Definitely a mix of what later became genres and weren't defined as that at that time

Yeah black sabbath's first album is definitely a big starting point but there are tons of influences mixed in there

This sounds like what we used to call quaalude music back then... A really potent downer that was fairly common in the late '70s early '80s

There's a lot of different influences with sludge

Southern rock, doom, punk, and prog being big ones

I'm sure there are, I haven't studied it that much. Back in the day vanilla fudge was what I would consider sludgy with their slowed down versions of keep me hanging on and other songs

It's all about the riff and the jam

Well so far everything seems to be based on a four note bass riff,

I'm sorry to be condescending but this is what we used to call shop class music

Like is it goofy and ridiculous? Yeah, but that's part of the appeal

The stuff the guys that had to take shop class instead of college prep courses listened to

I took auto shop and calculus, listened to sludge in both

It's meant to be music you vibe out/drive to/sang along to

Yeah but you're listening to it ironically then.

Sludge is for all

Geez this song has were of a repetitious riff then Britney Spears hit me with your best shot

And let's face it this guitar solo is nothing for the books

Well this is certainly off to a promising start I'm glad I stuck around.

And I will say flex even if I ride you a little bit on sludge or whatever I certainly appreciate what you and all the other DJs do to fill my ears

But yeah it's music that you need to accept for what it is rather than for all the things it isn't

Yeah we did it for y'all and also just cause it's fun spreading what we like and talking about it

Yes that is a really great point. I have to drop my highfalutin notions of what music should be sometimes thanks for reminding me

Even if it means defending the sludge

Now if you call this sludge I would say this is excellent sludge

Yeah! It leans towards prog but it still dwells in the same family

Its very slinky

Like an octopus!!!

I sure love me my nautical themes

Prog is fine, used to love Captain beyond and stuff like that. Probably why I am not hostile to this

Try lespecial omnisquid were there later album ancient homies

Not sludge but worth a listen

Psychedelonaut + Psychedoomelic = ?

love the Greek Mythology sludge on this track

I'm interpreting psychedoomelic as a relic of some kind

So my future album is def going to be Psychodelonaut and The Hunt For The Psychodoomelic

A sludged-out Indiana Jones concept album?

Honestly that sounds great

I guess Mastodon's Blood Mountain has hints of that

honestly, there's no real reason why I always include them

I just did it early on and decided to roll with it
