Alan, hi! Yes, cicadas all over our tires. 13 again on my wife's tires this afternoon. It takes a few minutes to pluck them off and put them on a tree or bush

@Readie, the closest part of the Potomac isn't all that pretty as it flows through Washington DC, but the upriver parts are right gorgeous

@ Readie, Correction, I visited the AAAP Observatory at Washington Observatory, it's a Princeton club, not the University's observatory...

Oh ok- there is an old observatory building adjacent to a Princeton playing field and parking lot- but I don't think it's operating anymore

It's hard to say what is and is not open because of the pandemic winding down. The Franklin Institute here in Phila. plans to reopen in the spring of 2022..

Cherry Springs was the darkest that I've ever seen. It took me at least 15 minutes to sketch the Milky Way naked eye.... The Silver Dollar galaxy was Fantastic.....

No, I'm used to camping but we slept at a Motel not too far away, parked at the parking lot, red lights only allowed, really dark, the Milky Way overhead in early fall crisp air...

I drove up with a friend of mine, we talked so much that we overshot the exit and ended up in downtown....Scranton!

@Alan, that sounds like a fantastic experience. We will be camping there at one of the rustic tent sites this summer. I'm really looking forward to it.
