Rob from Maryland & Brood X cicadaland 6:10:20 PM
Hello everyone
Readie Righteous (host) 6:11:20 PM
Hey Rob, hiya! how was your week?
Rob from Maryland & Brood X cicadaland 6:12:19 PM
Hi Readie, my week was pretty good. And a cicada landed on me this afternoon, that was the best part
Rob from Maryland & Brood X cicadaland 6:12:31 PM
And how was your week?
Readie Righteous (host) 6:13:49 PM
Oh wow, that might've freaked me out, but I had a good week, went by in a flash. Spent some time at the river...beauriful
Alan Pasnyk 6:14:22 PM
Hi Rob! Are you the guy that had cicadas all over your car tires???
Rob from Maryland & Brood X cicadaland 6:16:20 PM
Readie, yay. I need to get down to the Potomac River this weekend
Rob from Maryland & Brood X cicadaland 6:17:32 PM
Alan, hi! Yes, cicadas all over our tires. 13 again on my wife's tires this afternoon. It takes a few minutes to pluck them off and put them on a tree or bush
Alan Pasnyk 6:20:38 PM
Lizbot's "Attack of the Cicadas"! In all my (many) years, we have never had that many in Bucks county...
Readie Righteous (host) 6:21:55 PM
Thee Potomac! I bet it's pretty there.
Rob from Maryland & Brood X cicadaland 6:22:14 PM
Lizbot is a giant cicada
Rob from Maryland & Brood X cicadaland 6:23:14 PM
@Readie, the closest part of the Potomac isn't all that pretty as it flows through Washington DC, but the upriver parts are right gorgeous
Alan Pasnyk 6:23:16 PM
Dr.Lonnie = Cool and relax this Friday eve.
Readie Righteous (host) 6:23:43 PM
I had a feeling, that might be the case, Rob!
Rob from Maryland & Brood X cicadaland 6:26:30 PM
@Readie, is your river the Delaware?
Readie Righteous (host) 6:27:41 PM
@Rob, yes, indeed- right arounf where General Washington crossed it...
Rob from Maryland & Brood X cicadaland 6:27:43 PM
Cucina povera is how we make our dinners many nights
Readie Righteous (host) 6:28:16 PM
Ha Ha, me too, Rob, most nights!
Rob from Maryland & Brood X cicadaland 6:28:55 PM
I was at Washington Crossing once in the 80s, it's a nice area
Rob from Maryland & Brood X cicadaland 6:29:46 PM
*and I hope to go back there one day
Readie Righteous (host) 6:30:35 PM
It's very nice, I love to walk or bike the canal...
Alan Pasnyk 6:30:42 PM
I visited the observatory that Princeton University had at Wash. Crossing... wonder if it's still there...
Joe g 6:32:40 PM
Enjoying the set once again. Ur a treat.
Readie Righteous (host) 6:38:06 PM
@Alan- I haven't heard about that- I'll have to investigate!
Readie Righteous (host) 6:38:22 PM
Hi Joe! Thanks for stoppin' by!
Alan Pasnyk 6:52:45 PM
@ Readie, Correction, I visited the AAAP Observatory at Washington Observatory, it's a Princeton club, not the University's observatory...
Readie Righteous (host) 6:54:28 PM
Oh ok- there is an old observatory building adjacent to a Princeton playing field and parking lot- but I don't think it's operating anymore
Alan Pasnyk 6:57:14 PM
It's hard to say what is and is not open because of the pandemic winding down. The Franklin Institute here in Phila. plans to reopen in the spring of 2022..
Alan Pasnyk 6:58:13 PM
(The observatory, that is.)
Marvin Rosen 7:00:10 PM
Hi Read!! Just finished for the day!!
Readie Righteous (host) 7:00:43 PM
Ah, ok
Readie Righteous (host) 7:01:04 PM

Readie Righteous (host) 7:06:05 PM
@Alan, I think there's a conservatory at Raritan Valley Comm. College...
Readie Righteous (host) 7:07:13 PM
I meant observatory, I am multitasking
Christine ✔Broodin' Gen X 7:08:55 PM

Readie Righteous (host) 7:10:05 PM
Thx, Christine! Hiya! nice to see you tonight!
Marvin Rosen 7:10:57 PM
We are fine, Read!! School is wrapping down!!
Christine ✔Broodin' Gen X 7:11:13 PM
HI, Readie! 📻🎶 Hi, all!
Readie Righteous (host) 7:11:31 PM
Yes, Marvin! Summer is on the horizon!
Alan Pasnyk 7:13:08 PM
Hi Christine! Rainy nights ahead, but clearing on Monday.
Alan Pasnyk 7:15:13 PM
@ Readie, The style of La Fez sounds familiar, any comments?
Christine ✔Broodin' Gen X 7:16:19 PM
Hi Alan! I have a question since you're into astronomy: have to ever star-gazed at Cherry Springs State Park?
Alan Pasnyk 7:17:36 PM
WOW! Christine, You have said the Magic Words!!!! YES! Twice, It was Fantastic!!
Christine ✔Broodin' Gen X 7:19:30 PM
@Alan, that's great to hear! I recently learned that's where there are the darkest skies east of the Mississippi.
Readie Righteous (host) 7:20:43 PM
Wow- I just checked- it's about a 4 hour ride from here! No wonder it's perfect!
Christine ✔Broodin' Gen X 7:21:43 PM
@Readie, re: same time/same station: YAY! ✨
Rob from Maryland & Brood X cicadaland 7:22:13 PM
@Christine ++++ I'm happy too
Christine ✔Broodin' Gen X 7:23:28 PM
@Rob / Brood X Magicicadas, it's radio party time!
Alan Pasnyk 7:24:06 PM
Cherry Springs was the darkest that I've ever seen. It took me at least 15 minutes to sketch the Milky Way naked eye.... The Silver Dollar galaxy was Fantastic.....
Rob from Maryland & Brood X cicadaland 7:24:21 PM
Cicada party! Lots of noise!
Christine ✔Broodin' Gen X 7:26:49 PM
@Readie, wow, percussive lemons. 🍋🍋🍋
Rob from Maryland & Brood X cicadaland 7:27:31 PM
Ooh, that review of Santa Sprees might prompt me to buy that record.
Christine ✔Broodin' Gen X 7:29:03 PM
@Readie, maybe those are plastic lemons filled with sand, like a kid's musical instrument. May be the (mean) reviewer was sneering at that.
Readie Righteous (host) 7:31:59 PM
@Christine, maybe so! mean mean !
Readie Righteous (host) 7:32:46 PM
@Rob, yes!!! that would be the ultimate retort! Everyone buying the record!!! Touché!!
Christine ✔Broodin' Gen X 7:33:47 PM
@Rob and Readie, excellent idea. I think I'll be buying that Santa Sprees record also.
jimbeaux 7:34:00 PM

JIMBEAUX! Greetings my friend!
Christine ✔Broodin' Gen X 7:34:41 PM
yo jimbeaux 🍅!
Readie Righteous (host) 7:36:15 PM
I wonder what percussive tomatoes would sound like?????
Christine ✔Broodin' Gen X 7:36:32 PM
@Alan, that sounds mind-blowing. I'm also amazed that you were sketching under such dark skies.
jimbeaux 7:37:30 PM
Super show....been listening. Hey Christine!
Alan Pasnyk 7:38:01 PM
I'm more interested in what all that cosmic stuff really looks like, I use dim red light, pencil...
Readie Righteous (host) 7:38:22 PM
Thx Jimbeaux!
Readie Righteous (host) 7:38:47 PM
Always good to see Jimbeaux here!
Christine ✔Broodin' Gen X 7:39:12 PM
@Alan, very interesting. I read all about the no-light rules. Did you camp out on the Astronomical Field?
Alan Pasnyk 7:42:09 PM
No, I'm used to camping but we slept at a Motel not too far away, parked at the parking lot, red lights only allowed, really dark, the Milky Way overhead in early fall crisp air...
Alan Pasnyk 7:44:00 PM
I drove up with a friend of mine, we talked so much that we overshot the exit and ended up in downtown....Scranton!
Christine ✔Broodin' Gen X 7:44:29 PM
@Alan, that sounds like a fantastic experience. We will be camping there at one of the rustic tent sites this summer. I'm really looking forward to it.
Readie Righteous (host) 7:44:37 PM
SCRANTON! Yes, my hometown....
Readie Righteous (host) 7:45:08 PM
@Christine, that sounds idyllic!
Christine ✔Broodin' Gen X 7:45:46 PM
Big ups for Scranton! I pray the skies will be clear that night.
Alan Pasnyk 7:45:55 PM
Hey right Readie, just wanted to see if you're payin' attention!
Readie Righteous (host) 7:46:23 PM
Gets my attention every time!
Alan Pasnyk 7:46:54 PM
Hoping for clear skies for you Christine! Driving with a friend speeds up the trip.
Alan Pasnyk 7:48:26 PM
@ Readie, a straight line may very well the shortest way connecting two points, but not necessarily the most interesting!
Alan Pasnyk 7:49:17 PM
Besides, my Dad grew up in Scranton.
Christine ✔Broodin' Gen X 7:50:07 PM
@Alan, we can stream WPRB the whole way, once we drive out of radio range. This is in July, so I promise to give an update after we (hopefully) see the Big Dark Sky.🌌
Readie Righteous (host) 7:51:26 PM
Oh wow, Alan, COOL!
Alan Pasnyk 7:52:31 PM
@Christine, I was amazed to find out that you can get WPRB up on the NE Ext. up to just north of Quakertown
