Daryl Hall has a restaurant up near my girlfriend's mom's place in Pawling, NY. It's called Daryl's House Club, but why didn't he f-ing call it Daryl's Hall?!

Philly declared an annual Hall & Oates day about a dozen years ago, and my husband dressed as Daryl and his friend dressed as John Oates to give out Halls cough-drops and Quaker Oats on a street corner near Penn's Landing where Hall & Oates were playing. It was...silly

I had a strange experience of seeing a very heartfelt Guided By Voices cover band once in Orlando, and they played a better set than the ACTUAL BAND when I saw them two years ago 🤣

tho my big recommendation is when Steve Hackett plays keswick he is a MUST see - just amazing- think he’s scheduled for scottish rites in nj

Hi Julian! Yeah. It's a hard sell for me normally

@julian, that must have been unsettling, seeing as the one main expectation is original band > cover band.

@Julian - ha, yeah sometimes also I like recorded covers better than the original. that happens more than me liking a cover band more than the original, but the latter does happen sometimes too!

I think part of it was that I had no expectations for the first show (it was a small festival in honor of a sound guy that has gotten randomly shot :(. ). they opened up for this band Octogrape who opened up for Sebadoh.

This was a great show, Lizbot. The cicada I brought inside agrees

@ Christine, totally! I left the GBV show so sad because Robert Pollard was just very drunk and there was a desperate energy

@mark - yeah, I gotta get to a Steve Hackett show one of these days! My parents live just a town over from collingswood/scottish rite, so I can combine a show with a parent visit

we finally had the cicada experience up at Nockamixon Lake Park over the weekend here in Bucks. As we drove within a couple miles of the jernt they were so loud even over the car engine. At the park they were just having a dancing fest up in the trees and cackling away. Could barely hear ourselves on some trails.

@Rob - Can I order my trained cicada from you now, or do you need more time to teach it tricks?
