I'm glad my cicada recordings were audible and recognizable. 𓆦 The acoustics are different, so I was afraid it would just sound like static. 𓆦

Yes, Brian, Cos' first 2 releases are Canterbury heaven. An overlooked band to be sure. And their imports are not cheap.

I was trying to get some good audio samples of the 2nd 𓆦 species, but they usually get drowned out.

Hey, DSM. Good morning. Yes, we can't get enough of Brood X here.

I recorded just on my iPhone. Not the best microphone. While in Princeton, I saw a woman with a real recorder and professional microphone. She got some great audio I'm sure.

Also, it was hard to isolate cicadas, given all the background noise. Airplanes, cars, leaf blowers...

great i was going to just try to record on my phone when i get to see them glad the audio is quite good

Also, I am challenged to get good audio of an individual cicada. Together, they drone an E natural, but individually, their scream starts out an E natural, but dips down quite a bit.

That dip gets lost in the chorus.

Also a second species 𓆦 sounds just like a golf course lawn sprinkler.

haha we’ll all be experts on them by the end of the month & be ready for the off spring emergence in 2038 :)
