ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 7:31:09 AM
Good morning, Mark. I'm glad the eclipse viewing worked out for a change. Every other event I try to see gets obscured by clouds. Meteor showers, Venus transit, comets...
Mark 7:34:20 AM
yes unfortunately my sunrise area didn’t allow a good view. the online video was spectacular must’ve been amazing live :)
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 7:38:59 AM

ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 8:20:26 AM
Yeah, Brian. Same kind of downtempo lounge music. I am trying to identify the Hindi song that he sampled. Can't remember where I heard it.

The Magicicadas sound majestic in the background.
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 8:44:39 AM
I'm glad my cicada recordings were audible and recognizable. 𓆦 The acoustics are different, so I was afraid it would just sound like static. 𓆦
Christine ✔Broodin' Gen X 8:45:20 AM
Oh no, that sounds like Brood X. Loud and clear.
Brian Sassamann 8:45:44 AM
Never heard of Cos. Enjoying the Canterbury vibes
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 8:46:52 AM
Yes, Brian, Cos' first 2 releases are Canterbury heaven. An overlooked band to be sure. And their imports are not cheap.
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 8:47:44 AM
I was trying to get some good audio samples of the 2nd 𓆦 species, but they usually get drowned out.

I think there might be a documentary. When Zappa came to Sicily. Not sure if it dwells on his misadventures on stage, or if it's more a personal "homecoming" story.

Mark 9:36:18 AM
the cicada sounds r great. what did u record them on ?
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 9:36:21 AM
Hey, DSM. Good morning. Yes, we can't get enough of Brood X here.
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 9:37:47 AM
I recorded just on my iPhone. Not the best microphone. While in Princeton, I saw a woman with a real recorder and professional microphone. She got some great audio I'm sure.
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 9:39:29 AM
Also, it was hard to isolate cicadas, given all the background noise. Airplanes, cars, leaf blowers...
Mark 9:41:20 AM
great i was going to just try to record on my phone when i get to see them glad the audio is quite good
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 9:43:24 AM
Also, I am challenged to get good audio of an individual cicada. Together, they drone an E natural, but individually, their scream starts out an E natural, but dips down quite a bit.
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 9:43:43 AM
That dip gets lost in the chorus.
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 9:44:18 AM
Also a second species 𓆦 sounds just like a golf course lawn sprinkler.
Mark 9:47:41 AM
haha we’ll all be experts on them by the end of the month & be ready for the off spring emergence in 2038 :)
