Krista has been playing some great old school Thai pop. Love that stuff

Yeah, I heard some of her show. Way back in the day, I was kind of the only one playing "music from other places," now so many of the DJs have gotten into international sounds. It's great

Searching the songs when they are only shown in Thai on playlist is an interesting journey....

I found the presence of the Guillaume Barraud Quartet on an "Acoustic India" compilation surprising. Although he plays an Indian bansuri flute, none of the band members are even Indian.

I'd guess he's a world music network/riverboat artist

Like putting Warner Oland on a list of famous Chinese actors.

Ah, is label membership the main criterion?

Not positive, but I know whenever they put out a concept, it's usually well populated by their own stable of artists (less expensive and self-promotion)

I thought i heard some not quite so "acoustic" sounding instruments on that song too but who's counting...

well, it is just a "rough" guide

Yes filing down your guides to smooth them is not recommended... A blurry term. Like unplugged . Reading many guitar magazines, rock band bios, interviews etc musicians would often mention an amplifier brand name seen in the 1970s "Acoustic " . So they'd be playing electric guitar or bass but through an "Acoustic Amp"....

That reminds me of a pre-digital scam I dreamt up. Cheap covers of popular songs, marketed as "by The Original Artists". But it's not the version recorded by the original artists, but by a cheap band called "The Original Artists". Sell a million.

Wow, that's devious.

Then we found out that there was already a band named The Original Artists... so we became The New Original Artists...

that's a very original band name, nontraditional in fact

My band name idea might have been taken: "The Plural Nouns". Breaks the 2 word 'article noun' rule in a nice head scratching way.
