Rob, I learned a fun cicada and Princeton factoid over the weekend you might appreciate. In Bob Dylan’s song Day of the Locusts he’s actually singing about the 1970 brood x emergence that was happening while he was getting his honorary degree at Princeton University! He says locust, but thats just cuz it sounds more poetic than cicada i think.

honestly im def trying to mix up and attempt my own audio collages, so i totally vibe with playing the cicada music alongside some of the wprb jams ~

omg i would have never have guessed since the song was titled after locusts.. but it makes so much sense

One last thing about my little pals. A few might have been calling at 2 am this morning. The chorus certainly was swelling around 5 am

Oh one more thing, the other day I gave WPRB dj names to all the cicadas I was picking up from the sidewalk and road.

We don't open the windows at night b/c there's always too much street noise, and we get up at around 5:30 anyway, so the cicadas noising at 5 aren't terribly loud thru our closed windows

Good evening. I've been driving all day from Atlanta to Durham and I'm finally in a hotel room and able to relax & enjoy your show!

It's been raining cats & dogs the whole trip so it's been just a little stressful.

I did hear the Food Brain track after the High Rise intro. That organ player was AMAZING!

I have two cassette decks at home and neither one works. They need new belts that are impossible to access.

ugh that sounds like a pain,, but i feel that a new cassette deck wouldnt be too hard to get since theres been that revival again?? tbh i dont get it; the only thing thats most satisfying about the cassette is the initial click-into-place

Andrew, I hear you. My basement stereo I haven't touched in maybe a decade now? But everything was still working. The upstairs stereo setup has been disassembled and exiled out of the living room.

I either need to find a capable tech or take on the project myself. I'm inclined to go the tech route.

Tower records used to have stacks of blank cassettes for sale at the register. I wonder if Dennon or TDK even still make them.

I'll go the tech route myself if and when I deal with the basement stereo. Rn I listen to cds in the car and streaming radio/videos on my laptop
