Rob from Maryland & Brood X Cicadaland 5:01:25 PM
Bot of course!
Lizbot (host) 5:02:53 PM
Hi Rob!
Mickey Kane 5:03:00 PM
Thought that was the old Music With Space promo for a second there
Lizbot (host) 5:03:39 PM
@Rob - Guess what? I FINALLY met BROOD X! Went to Princeton for the FIRST time since the pandemic began this past Sunday! They were brooding HARD
Lizbot (host) 5:03:46 PM
Hi Mickey!
Rob from Maryland & Brood X Cicadaland 5:03:55 PM
Hi Lizbot and Mickey! As usual, I won't be able to listen until about an hour from now
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 5:04:40 PM
𓆦𓆦𓆦𓆦𓆦😵𓆦𓆦𓆦𓆦𓆦
Lizbot (host) 5:04:48 PM
@Mickey - The ID at the end of your show, or the beginning of mine? That ID at the end of your show reminded me of Music with Space for sure. The ID at the beginning of my show was my kid!
Mickey Kane 5:04:49 PM
Princeton is Brood X Ground Zero. I live 10 miles away, no cicadas. Princeton, all cicadas.
Lizbot (host) 5:04:52 PM
Hi Dave!
Rob from Maryland & Brood X Cicadaland 5:04:55 PM
@Lizbot, yippee and hooray!
Rob from Maryland & Brood X Cicadaland 5:05:16 PM
Princeton, All Cicadas All The Time :-)
Lizbot (host) 5:05:43 PM
@Mickey, Rob, Dave - A cicada tried to mate with my husband's shirt. It was hot and humid. They were cicada-ing all over the place!
Rob from Maryland & Brood X Cicadaland 5:05:46 PM
Hi Dave, how are the cicadas today?
Mickey Kane 5:05:56 PM
Must have been end of mine, I had nothing to do with it though. Made me wanna say "BERLIN SCHOOL"
Brian D 5:06:04 PM
ELO ELO ELO. ELO KIDDIES....
Rob from Maryland & Brood X Cicadaland 5:06:08 PM
@Lizbot, what an honor!
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 5:06:36 PM
Stand still long enough, you appear to be a tree for them to land on. 𓆦
Lizbot (host) 5:06:38 PM
Hi Brian!
Mr. Rhesus Lady 5:06:44 PM
Well elo elo elo
Lizbot (host) 5:07:07 PM
Hello Rhesus Pieces
Mr. Rhesus Lady 5:07:24 PM
I'll piece you out
Mickey Kane 5:07:29 PM
I've been making recordings of them every time I go into town. The volume fluctuation waves are intense.
Brian D 5:07:31 PM
Robyn!
Lizbot (host) 5:07:44 PM
Are you pieces of a Rhesus monkey? Or a rhesus monkey recess lady?
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 5:07:54 PM
The cicadas in Plainsboro NJ are happy and buzzing. I hear the 2 species - have yet to hear the third.
Lizbot (host) 5:07:54 PM
@Brian D - There will be MORE Robyn TODAY
Mr. Rhesus Lady 5:08:10 PM
The latter. You try to bite my breast, I'll peace you out.
Lizbot (host) 5:08:29 PM
The cicadas in those fields on Washington Lane between Lake Carnegie and Rte 1 are BONKERS LOUD
Jason Ferraro 5:08:41 PM
Was that small string thingy in the middle of ELO used by Robbie Williams for a sample??
Lizbot (host) 5:09:01 PM
The cicadas in the graveyard across from the Spring Street Garage near Princeton Public Library are pretty dang loud as well
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 5:09:05 PM
I've got Brood X behind my mic breaks tomorrow morning. 𓆦
Lizbot (host) 5:09:32 PM
@Jason - Hmmmm, good question...I'll have to look into it...
Lizbot (host) 5:09:59 PM
@Dave - Nice! Looking forward to hearing from those buggers some more!
Mickey Kane 5:10:29 PM
Walking to Prex requires a spatula and being prepared for Sonic Attack.
Lizbot (host) 5:10:39 PM
I am going down the shore this week and was determined to get to Princeton to experience the brood beforehand
Jason Ferraro 5:10:47 PM
Lizbot x Summer feels = an all timer
Rob from Maryland & Brood X Cicadaland 5:11:12 PM
I want to go to Princeton to experience the cicadas. Also to go to PREX
Rob from Maryland & Brood X Cicadaland 5:11:31 PM
@Lizbot enjoy your beach time! *Envious*
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 5:11:41 PM
Can't believe you aren't playing CT's "Summerhead".
Alan Pasnyk 5:12:09 PM
Hi Lizzzbot!!! Hey Guess What? I saw the Solar eclipse this morning at 6AM. And a friend of mine saw it rising out of the ocean down the Jersey shore. It looked like an orange peel...waaaay coool!
Lizbot (host) 5:12:09 PM
@Mickey - I wanted to drop into PREX Sunday, but alas there was no time. We had to make it to New Hope by 7 pm Sunday evening to see The Crossing modern chamber choir perform in a field of wildflowers and woods tail at Bowman's Wildflower Preserve! A good reason to skip outta Princeton early!
Lizbot (host) 5:12:29 PM
@DAve - I just like this CT track more!
Lizbot (host) 5:12:44 PM
@Rob - Thanks! LBI OR DIE!
Lizbot (host) 5:12:53 PM
LBI OR LRB OR DIE
Lizbot (host) 5:13:10 PM
I will not be LRBing from LBI next week, so Dana will be covering for me
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 5:13:10 PM
Happier song to be sure, Lizbot.
Mark 5:13:17 PM
lovely early June type evening outside tonite / great sound for it
Lizbot (host) 5:13:40 PM
Hi Mark!
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 5:14:07 PM
@ Alan, I too caught the orange crescent rise at 5:30. 🌒
Lizbot (host) 5:14:37 PM
Thanks, Mark! I'm trying to get myself hyped with some jangly upbeat summer tunes so I can get everything I need to do done before I leave for the shore tomorrow, and tomorrow's forecast has changed from rain to clouds back to rain a hundred times!
Mark 5:14:46 PM
that bowman wild flower event must have been great / i saw it was on their calendar
Alan Pasnyk 5:15:37 PM
Whoa Dave! Great! I never saw an eclipse at sunrise .... until today
Lizbot (host) 5:16:02 PM
Hi Alan!!! DAMN! I wish I'd seen it but I was so incredibly underslept this morning, I got up at the last possible moment! Not that you didn't remind me a lot, and I thank you for that! Today was my kid's last day of 6th grade, so an emotional day and I just didn't sleep that much
Lizbot (host) 5:16:12 PM
@Dave - For sure a happier one!
Rob from Maryland & Brood X Cicadaland 5:16:20 PM
The sun rose behind a house across the street and its trees, so we couldn't see the eclipse
Mark 5:16:30 PM
i certainly have been checking the rain forecast for tomorrow: sister w transistor is showing @ Clark park tomorrow!
Lizbot (host) 5:17:22 PM
@Mark - Nice! ALSO, there is another The Crossing show for their Month of Moderns series at the Woodlands Cemetery in West Philly tomorrow night, but might get rained out! I'd be there if not for the shore
Lizbot (host) 5:18:10 PM
Okay, here's your obligatory Bruce. I am from NJ, what can I say?!
Alan Pasnyk 5:18:13 PM
@ Lizbot, Not to worry, there will be Eclipse pictures all over the net, but it was really cool, got lots of photos...
Brian D 5:18:58 PM
I like this Bruce song. Captures that shore thing
Alan Pasnyk 5:19:22 PM
@ Lizbot, And tomorrow we will find out if Readie got to see it....STAY TUNED!! :)
Lizbot (host) 5:19:26 PM
@Alan - I'll have to check them out! Best sky viewing experience I ever had was a beautiful moondog over the Golfo Dulce in Costa Rica in the Osa Peninsula!
Brian D 5:20:00 PM
He got a good sound on this. Not much i like but this lp was good.
Lizbot (host) 5:20:01 PM
@Alan - I hope she did! I will probably be listening on my drive - I'll be on Rte 72 by 5 pm when Read is on
Lizbot (host) 5:20:23 PM
@Brian - Yeah, Bruce is hit and miss for me, but I really like this Magic album, well esp this track
Brian D 5:20:27 PM
And Nebraska of course
Lizbot (host) 5:20:48 PM
@Brian - I will probably play Atlantic City too...we'll see
Alan Pasnyk 5:20:52 PM
@ Brian, Amen to shore Bruce Music, could be a soundtrack!!
Lizbot (host) 5:21:19 PM
@Mickey - I wish id made field recordings of the cicadas!
Mark 5:21:19 PM
& i did see that ars nova has a woodlands events all weekend / big times for w philly w porch fest last sat too
Brian D 5:21:38 PM
The rabbit hole reading of the rare ish Japanese release or some such of Nebraska.. diff mixes lengths etc
Lizbot (host) 5:24:46 PM
@Mark - My husband was at porchfest. I usually don't miss it, but my kid got her 2nd Pfizer shot on Friday and I had to stay home with her and keep an eye on her.
Lizbot (host) 5:26:30 PM
@Brian - Yeah, I haven't heard the Japanese release of Nebraska! I'm not that deep into Bruce!
Mark 5:26:50 PM
it was almost too great an event / I went for 1st time & it was almost overwhelming- 250 acts 125 porches
DSM 5:27:32 PM
Good afternoon y’all. Evening?
DSM 5:27:51 PM
Nice to hear ELO when the radio goes on
Lizbot (host) 5:28:19 PM
Hi DSM!
Lizbot (host) 5:28:36 PM
Yes, I like to indulge in Out of the Blue sometimes!
DSM 5:29:45 PM
A double LP worth it’s weight in wax, for sure!
Lizbot (host) 5:30:39 PM
@Mark - Yeah, the last Porchfest I went to was 2019 and it was great. We always have a lot of friends performing on their porches. My kid was happy to go in 2019, but had a headache on Saturday from her shot the evening before. My husband was there until well after the official end time. I always love that event!
Lizbot (host) 5:30:48 PM
@DSM - Absolutely!
Rob from Maryland & Brood X Cicadaland 5:32:16 PM
@Lizbot, I just noticed the name of today's show. Would you be playing the Jonathan Richman song of the same name?
Rob from Maryland & Brood X Cicadaland 5:32:30 PM
That's not a request btw, just a question
Lizbot (host) 5:33:13 PM
@Rob, YES indeed!
Lizbot (host) 5:33:34 PM
@Rob - Summer Feeling is one of my all-time favorite JoJo songs
Rob from Maryland & Brood X Cicadaland 5:33:43 PM
Cool! (I won't be able to hear it tho until after 6:10)
Mark 5:33:48 PM
haha next year we listeners need the lizbot recommended porches map ahead of time. I lucked into a lot of good ones as well as a rockin Clark park ;)
Rob from Maryland & Brood X Cicadaland 5:33:51 PM
It's a nice song!
Lizbot (host) 5:33:57 PM
@Rob - Might happen after 6:10...we'll see
Rob from Maryland & Brood X Cicadaland 5:34:24 PM
Please don't let me influence when you'll play it!
Lizbot (host) 5:34:52 PM
@Mark - I'm always overwhelmed by all the options too! I don't get to everyone's porch that I'd like to, but I spend the whole day out on the sidewalks and it's always great!
Mark 5:37:42 PM
plus the Baltimore ave vendors have their wares out on the sidewalks / I met a book vendor whose obscure film knowledge rivaled lizbots! :)
Christine ✔Broodin' Gen X 5:39:09 PM
Great set, Lizbot! 🤖
Lizbot (host) 5:39:29 PM
@Mark - Nice! I'd like to met that vendor! Our dog accompanied my husband and relished all the attention, but one vendor was annoyed that she got too close to his incense wares!
Lizbot (host) 5:39:41 PM
Hello Christine! Thanks! How're you doing?
Christine ✔Broodin' Gen X 5:40:01 PM
I'm loving these summery, perfect songs as I drive around. I'm doing great!
Christine ✔Broodin' Gen X 5:40:30 PM
I juat wanted to pop into the chat to say Thanks 🙏
Mark 5:40:50 PM
haha that may have been who i bought incense from - it was the good homemade hand dipped stuff !
Christine ✔Broodin' Gen X 5:41:13 PM
Hi, all you doubleplusgooders 👋
Lizbot (host) 5:41:50 PM
@Christine - I'm glad you're driving around in the sun to this show today! I do think this is a good driving episode!
Brian D 5:43:16 PM
They are right over there by the Victorian Squid Robyn
Alan Pasnyk 5:43:43 PM
Hi Christine! Catch the Eclipse??
Lizbot (host) 5:44:11 PM
@Brian D - Haha! I love that one too!
Lizbot (host) 5:44:18 PM
seeeeeea
Lizbot (host) 5:45:15 PM
Next up, I will be playing a certain band who recorded the album I will play from in LBI, and it's also in celebration of my first visit to New Hope in about 4 years!
Lizbot (host) 5:47:30 PM
one ween shirt spotted in New Hope.
Brian D 5:48:09 PM
There are three things
Lizbot (host) 5:48:54 PM
love this French horn? solo
Lizbot (host) 5:49:04 PM
the waking of all creatures
Brian D 5:49:45 PM
Synth ya
Brian D 5:49:59 PM
Barry Keith Emerson
Brian D 5:50:23 PM
I love that one and she wanted to leave from the mollusk album also
Lizbot (host) 5:50:44 PM
now I kinda wanna play The Fish (Schindleria Praematurus)! Maybe later! RIP Chris Squire
Brian D 5:50:55 PM
That whole album is all Jersey Shore
Lizbot (host) 5:51:15 PM
@Brian - I also am partial to Ocean Man, which pops into my head frequently
Brian D 5:51:38 PM
The theme from the fish that saved Pittsburgh mighty mighty Pisces strange comedy movie about a basketball team from Pittsburgh that never existed Stockard Channing
Lizbot (host) 5:52:31 PM
who will we meet, on the Jersey streets? I am HOPING I can drive to this mellotron-heavy track in SUN tomorrow and not more rainstorms!
Lizbot (host) 5:53:02 PM
mighty mighty pisces! Haha, Brian ! I have that movie on VHS, purchased at the Pennsauken Mart 20 years ago!
Lizbot (host) 5:53:11 PM
@Brian - Stockard Channing at her best!
Brian D 5:53:12 PM
Mentioned before in chat yes ... but Aaron played an early version of ocean man on my mandolin once at a party pre Mollusk release
Brian D 5:53:54 PM
Now that I think about it mighty mighty Pisces was not the theme song that was just one of the song the theme song was the title of the movie
Lizbot (host) 5:54:00 PM
@Brian D- Oh yeah, I remember that fun Brian D PRB Chat factoid! Quite nice!
Lizbot (host) 5:54:20 PM
mighty mighty pisces, gonna bring them to their knees!
Brian D 5:54:48 PM
Stockard channing's little character song was called magic Mona I think
Lizbot (host) 5:54:55 PM
@Brian D - Only in the 70s could their be a movie premise about a team performing better if they're all the same astrological sign!
Lizbot (host) 5:55:11 PM
@Brian D - Oh yeah! I forgot her name was Mona!
Brian D 5:55:27 PM
Yep those same lyrics are floating through my head right now to nice
Brian D 5:55:55 PM
Saw that in the movie theater maybe more than once?
Brian D 5:56:37 PM
Forget who did this songs maybe the Spinners or somebody like that
Lizbot (host) 5:57:06 PM
@Brian D - Maybe.. I'd have to look it up
Brian D 5:57:41 PM
So cool you remember that too... I thought maybe
Lizbot (host) 5:58:31 PM
I actually went to a movie theater for the FIRST TIME since pre-pandemic on Tuesday night! I needed to find something for my 12 year-old that I wouldn't mind, so I took her to Cruella - didn't expect Black Sabbath in a Disney movie! That was a first!
Mark 5:59:51 PM
ha the ice cream place in Elkins park showed the new cruella outdoors Saturday nite / I watched a little bit of it
Lizbot (host) 6:01:28 PM
@Mark - Speaking of ice cream, the Bent Spoon in Princeton is selling cicada ice cream!
Mark 6:03:51 PM
Haha it is vegan friendly:)
Brian D 6:07:43 PM
You know I could hear magnetic fields covering that Bruce girls in their summer clothes song
Brian D 6:08:00 PM
In a weird way it would work
Rob from Maryland & Brood X Cicadaland 6:08:45 PM
@Lizbot, this is ice cream with real cicadas it it?
Lizbot (host) 6:08:59 PM
@Mark - I think Cruella will be the first movie for a lot of ppl since it's kid-friendly for middle school and older and 12-15 year-olds are getting the vaccine now
Lizbot (host) 6:09:47 PM
haha, that last mic break reflects my sleep deprivation! I'm trying to read out the creative misspelling of tael of a saeghors and then I misspelled that!
Lizbot (host) 6:10:22 PM
@rob - Yup!! They apparently ensconced real cicada bits in chocolate to make them more palatable, but still, NO thank you!
Lizbot (host) 6:10:48 PM
@Mark - I'm gonna say, no, it's not vegan friendly!
Lizbot (host) 6:11:34 PM
@Brian D - Oh, interesting..yeah, I could see Mag Fields covering girls in their summer clothes and making it very synthy. Maybe sung by Claudia instead of Stephin.
Rob from Maryland & Brood X Cicadaland 6:11:36 PM
@Lizbot, chocolate, mmmm. I really may have to head up there
Lizbot (host) 6:13:21 PM
@rob - apparently they consulted with some special bug chef!
Mark 6:13:36 PM
& today show a virtual travel log : princeton for cicadas / new hope for choir / lbi for sun & fun :)
Lizbot (host) 6:13:41 PM
@Rob - And the chef was Emeril...no, the chef WAS a bug
Lizbot (host) 6:14:07 PM
@Mark - Yes! A banner week! Finally getting out and about again!
Brian D 6:20:41 PM
Great choices tonight Liz
Lizbot (host) 6:20:58 PM
@Brian D - Thanks!
Lizbot (host) 6:21:13 PM
@Brian D - A Nebraska tune is next!
Brian D 6:23:47 PM
I remember reading the death of Sal Chicken Man in the paper. Angelo Bruno too. When I was a paper boy
Brian D 6:24:30 PM
The Band did this great. Levon was perfect fit for this vocal
Brian D 6:24:57 PM
Ya don't like much but this lp is stellar
Lizbot (host) 6:26:42 PM
@Brian D. I agree! And I saw a photo of the chickenman hit in a mob doc I wish I hadn't seen!
Lizbot (host) 6:31:21 PM
Jonathan Richman is next, with a song that is the inspiration for the name of this episode of ++good ! @Rob, don't know if you're there!
Rob from Maryland & Brood X Cicadaland 6:31:51 PM
I'm here!
Rob from Maryland & Brood X Cicadaland 6:31:57 PM
Tx Lizbot!
Lizbot (host) 6:36:16 PM
@Rob - No Prob! I was gonna play it anyway, it's so good!
Corage Mike 6:37:28 PM
I’m not trippin like everyone else here. Hippy Johnny…….
DSM 6:38:12 PM
Has a ‘wonder where I’m bound’ era Dion feelin’ that i never connected
Lizbot (host) 6:38:23 PM
Hi Corage Mike! haha, I had to call up and say how I want to take his place
Mark 6:38:28 PM
& maybe JR’s ice cream man if only they had Cicada flavor back in 75 :)
Lizbot (host) 6:38:35 PM
DSM , huh!
Mark 6:38:53 PM
hippie Ernie a better version !
Lizbot (host) 6:39:01 PM
@Mark - I played that for an ice cream themed show I did several years back!
DSM 6:39:41 PM
I will be in Princeton tomorrow and am very excited for the cicada madness, tho I will not be eating any
Mark 6:39:47 PM
you’ve heard the hippie ernie version of I’m straight - it’s fantastic
Lizbot (host) 6:41:07 PM
@DSM, yeah, I couldn't stomach eating them, but I very much enjoyed their buzzing songs! Some ppl I know are sick of them. Maybe I would be too if I was in Princeton this whole time! BUT I wouldn't miss it! I remember 2004 cicadas very well
Corage Mike 6:41:09 PM
Have to check that out I’m straight was a PRB classic. Have it on cassette, yes I did tape PRB broadcast in the early 80’s….
Lizbot (host) 6:41:29 PM
@Mike - I gotta get acquainted with Hippie Ernie
Krista 6:42:00 PM
I heard Springsteen at the ice cream parlor down the shore and it was an iconic Jerseyite moment
Krista 6:42:26 PM
I'm happy to return to the cicada cacophony, I love them
Mark 6:42:33 PM
the live harvard version is hippie ernie/ it’s on YT & very different a lot meaner
Lizbot (host) 6:42:48 PM
@Corage Mike - I taped PRB a lot in the late 80s and throughout the 90s. A few years ago we got a donation of HUNDREDS of tapes of PRB shows from a listener spanning back at least 3 decades!
Lizbot (host) 6:42:58 PM
Hi Krista!
Lizbot (host) 6:43:14 PM
@Mark - I gotta check that out!
Corage Mike 6:43:22 PM
How cool. Made my own covers and named them.
Lizbot (host) 6:44:47 PM
@Krista - That IS perfect! I always listen to Atlantic City on my way down the shore! We wandered down to the free Tuesday night shows in Beach Haven Crest a few years ago and it was a Bruce cover band that had been performing Bruce professionally since the 80s! They were actually really good
Mark 6:45:22 PM
50 year anniversary of zep version- ‘71 - remember u can play zep ballads thru pine barrons if need soothing on drive :)
Lizbot (host) 6:45:55 PM
BTW all, this Petra Haden (from That Dog) cover of Zep isn't on an album, she released it as a one-off on her YT channel and her website
Lizbot (host) 6:46:56 PM
@Mark- Yup! I will be playing Going to California, Bron-Yr-Stomp, Tangerine, and other more acoustic-y Zep at some point during my drive through the Pinies this week, of that you can be sure!
Lizbot (host) 6:47:59 PM
@Mark - My husband makes fun of me for my Zep listening habits on drives to and from the shore, but I fully defend it! Brings back memories of my brother and I blaring those songs down the shore as kids!
Mark 6:49:14 PM
don’t forget that’s the way- my fav ++ zep play of all time last winter / how we all found u were zep fan :)
Lizbot (host) 6:50:35 PM
@Mark - I will NEVER forget That's the Way! That's one of my all-time favorites and always makes it on the Pineys list!
Lizbot (host) 6:51:16 PM
@Mark - Now my 12 year-old daughter is making her own competing playlists, but using a lot of the same songs I play, so I consider that a victory! ha
Lizbot (host) 6:53:47 PM
and of course THIS song made it on my Ice cream - themed episode of ++good from a few years ago!
Lizbot (host) 6:55:09 PM
I also wanted to play "Hooray" by OCDJ, which features the Mr. Softee truck song, BUT there's a copy marooned in the station library and it isn't available for download! I always played it from the station's copy. Sad to discover OCDJ passed away. A fine Baltimore musician and former WFMU DJ who opened for Dan Deacon years ago
Rob from Maryland & Brood X Cicadaland 6:59:57 PM
"your heart beats faster than a woodpecker's beak"?!
Lizbot (host) 7:04:48 PM
@Rob - Yeah, I love that line from Funhouse!
Lizbot (host) 7:06:03 PM
@rob - that song also reminds me of the time I went in one of the funhouse mirror mazes and tried to rush through it because I realized the fireworks were starting and I didn't wanna miss them, but in my rush I clocked my head on a mirror! Fooled by funhouse mirrors! The shame!
Rob from Maryland & Brood X Cicadaland 7:07:45 PM
Ouch!!
Lizbot (host) 7:09:49 PM
@Rob - I WANT to say this was when I was a young child, but no. I was 32.
Mark 7:10:37 PM
haha sponge bob movie as anyone who had little ones 15 years ago knows :)
Rob from Maryland & Brood X Cicadaland 7:12:09 PM
@Lizbot, I've been there!
Rob from Maryland & Brood X Cicadaland 7:13:25 PM
This is an almost soothing Beat Happening song
Lizbot (host) 7:13:43 PM
@Mark - oh boy. Hattie is 12, so she missed the brunt of SpongeBob mania, but I remember when she was about 2 years old and we took her to the Trenton Avenue street fair in Fishtown, a vendor was selling Spongebob mylar balloons and she got excited about them but didn't know the character, so she called him "CheeseBob" because, to her, he looks like Swiss cheese, which, fair enough, he kinda does! We've called him CheeseBob ever since
Lizbot (host) 7:14:07 PM
@Rob - Yeah! Calvin's deep voice can soothe an aching bot!
Lizbot (host) 7:14:56 PM
dare I play a Go-Betweens song I already played recently?...I just have been listening to it a lot this month!
Lizbot (host) 7:15:49 PM
I believe I WILL
Rob from Maryland & Brood X Cicadaland 7:15:52 PM
Yes, do it!
Lizbot (host) 7:15:58 PM
Here we go!
Brian D 7:17:30 PM
Bang by Raevonettes is a great summer tune
Lizbot (host) 7:17:35 PM
I remember driving around Princeton listening to the go-betweens in heavy rotation in the early 2000s and DJ Jannon and I both played them a lot. Then she moved to LA and saw them for the Oceans Apart album tour, which I couldn't make it to because I was traveling, and it turned out to be their last. R.I.P. Grant McLennan
Lizbot (host) 7:18:21 PM
@Brian D - Good call! Gonna have to take note for a different episode because I'm definitely gonna run outta time before I get through all the songs I set aside for tonight!
Lizbot (host) 7:18:40 PM
I was having too much fun making this playlist and made it about 40 minutes too long!
Lizbot (host) 7:19:55 PM
best use of cricket sounds!
Lizbot (host) 7:20:16 PM
this is when Susan Anway was the only vocalist of the Magnetic Fields!
Brian D 7:32:03 PM
Tengo! Great tune
Lizbot (host) 7:32:29 PM
@Brian D - That Season of the Shark YLT song reminds me of the WPRB comedy show by Jay Barnes and Vanessa that followed me about 17 years ago, Provoke the Listener - They told listeners over the air that WPRB was changing to an all classic rock format and changing its name to "WPRB - THE SHARK!" and then Vanessa would emit a little growling noise! A bunch of people fell for it!
Lizbot (host) 7:34:36 PM
@Brian D - Their summer-y album, Summer Sun! I haven't seen them in a while, but my favorite Yo La Tengo show for for And Then nothing turned itself inside out at the Troc. A dude from the opening band climbed up onto the balcony from below - I'm not even sure how he did it, the ceilings are so high! That album is beautiful. It was sort of the love songs album between Georgia and Ira when they were first getting together
Mark 7:46:50 PM
fantastic fun summer show tonite hope everyone got to stream it outside tonite & hope u get sunny weather for the drive tomorrow:)
Lizbot (host) 7:50:04 PM
Thanks, Mark!
Lizbot (host) 7:50:42 PM
@All ++gooders - Take note!: I will be taking off next week and handing the airwaves over to Dana while I'm down the shore!
Lizbot (host) 7:51:58 PM
I could try LRBing from LBI, but the wifi in the place where I stay isn't so great! Dana isn't on the summer schedule right now, so she'll sub while I'm hopefully on the beach and not staring at a summer storm out the window!
DSM 7:52:47 PM
Enjoy your trip!
Rob from Maryland & Brood X Cicadaland 7:53:17 PM
Enjoy your trip Lizbot! Hopefully it won't be storming while you are down at the beach
Lizbot (host) 7:53:53 PM
haha, that drop just then!
Lizbot (host) 7:53:57 PM
Thanks, DSM!
Lizbot (host) 7:54:18 PM
Thanks, Rob! Forecast is ever-changing this month!
Lizbot (host) 7:55:48 PM
See you all in 2 weeks! Depending on my mood then, I might be doing a Part II of this theme then!
Lizbot (host) 7:56:51 PM
I hope everyone has a great weekend, and not TOO much rain!
Rob from Maryland & Brood X Cicadaland 7:56:57 PM
I went out to the beach and saw, 100,000 fireflies ...
Brian D 7:57:00 PM

Lizbot (host) 7:57:34 PM

Lizbot (host) 7:58:03 PM
@Brian D - Thanks! Yes, I'm looking forward to hearing Dana's latest purchases from her visit to Revilla Grooves and Gear last weekend!
Rob from Maryland & Brood X Cicadaland 7:58:16 PM

Lizbot (host) 7:58:56 PM
@Alan - Thanks for hanging out! I need some dinner as well! I am sleep deprived and I don't even have the excuse of having gotten up extra early for the eclipse!
Lizbot (host) 7:59:13 PM
Thanks for hanging, Rob!
Rob from Maryland & Brood X Cicadaland 8:00:11 PM
I hope you sleep well tonight, Lizbot
Lizbot (host) 8:00:49 PM
Thanks, Rob! I NEED it! I haven't packed at all and I always have to do some many chores to get my birdsitter set up for all my birds while I'm away!

Brian D 8:01:49 PM
