hello!

good evening everyone!

oh no is cicadaland dead??

There were no cicadas calling this morning at 7 am, for the first time *on a sunny calm day* in three weeks or so. :-( I went for a walk an hour later and I did hear some, and obviously haven't spin-i-tronned since then.

We did hear some from the house when it got into the 80s, but still, not as many as last week. So the inevitable decline is happening

I just substituted Brood X Cicadaland for Cicadaland R.I.P.

aw i was not in the princeton area so i could not enjoy them :(

i feel like it definitely has to do with the colder weather

I've been telling a couple of New Yorkers to go to Princeton to experience the cicadas

And the weather's been variable here in Maryland as well as NJ. Hot, then rainy & cool, then hot again

hahah i think the first song i chose for this segment was the feedtime so whenever that happens the whole segment gets dirty~

gosh maybe thats why im feeling so confused and out of sorts...

@RD I’ve been meaning to ask if you have ever seen the film The Holy Mountain?

yes i have!! it was actually the second or third Alejandro Jodorowsky film i watched, def after the dance of reality

Awesome. The soundtrack of that film is other-worldly! You should try to lay your hands on it for a show sometime.

That re-enactment of the Spanish invasion with toads had me utterly stunned. And the sound was loud.

Sounds like this band has listened to a lot of Zappa. It’s in the trombones.

yes exactly... you should have seen the rest of the album, the vocal interludes were (almost annoyingly) a perfect send-up

btw this current song went silent for about 1 second a couple of minutes ago. I imagine there was more lightning up there

huh i wonder if it must also just be the internet broadcasting... sigh

It could be down at my end. There have been Severe Thunderstorms passing to my north, which is a key place where my internet comes from

Though sometimes it's hard to be sure with this type of music ;-)

I have a lightning tracker open in two tabs rn, one for DC/Baltimore and the other for Philly/Princeton. Baltimore is getting struck big time

aw the internet is not as reliable as it should be :( but all those interruptions *were* intentional in the last boredoms track lolol

the weird thing is when lightning strikes but the thunder never arrives!

I figured the Boredoms interruptions were deliberate

And yeah, lightning without thunder is weird. Sometimes I can see cloud-top (50K+ feet high) lightning 30 miles or more (?) away and of course I can't hear it

it is a beautiful sight though! for me those types of lightning strikes are a welcome sign that those warm summer nights are back :)
