Lizbot here! Back from the shore! How's everyone on this gorgeous day?
Alan Pasnyk 5:03:00 PM
LIZBOT!!! 10101010101010101 and welcome back to...WPRB!
Lizbot (host) 5:03:49 PM
Hi Alan! Thank you!
Lizbot (host) 5:04:46 PM
@Alan - Not only did I get to the shore last week, but yesterday I visited for the first time a beautiful estate I never been to before: Glen Foerd in NE Philly along the Delaware River
Lizbot (host) 5:04:51 PM
Hi Mark!
Lizbot (host) 5:05:00 PM
@Mark - Sadly, no
Mark 5:05:31 PM
haha I bet the author is demanding royalties !
Lizbot (host) 5:05:33 PM
Wow, my fingers are trigger-happy today! on this desktop, I tend to hit submit too early on these comments
Lizbot (host) 5:06:31 PM
@Mark - To which station ID are you referring? The one about regenerating your bones by purring with a cat purr in the background?
Mark 5:06:45 PM
i do want hear about that estate i only learned of it recently it sounds beautiful
Lizbot (host) 5:07:09 PM
@Mark - Yeah, it was about 40 minutes from me and well worth the drive
Mark 5:07:40 PM
haha i think a grammar school girl says kittens & kats :)))
Alan Pasnyk 5:08:11 PM
@ Lizbot If you're out to buy that estate it's across the river from your friend DJ Readie........
Lizbot (host) 5:09:12 PM
@Mark - Ah, I don't remember that one! I don't think I've played that ID. I play the purr bones one that I made. The text from that is just ad-libbed based on something my husband and I read about a theory that cats purr to regenerate their bones!
Lizbot (host) 5:09:55 PM
@Alan - Ah, good point! I should've sent Readie a flare over the river!
Lizbot (host) 5:10:32 PM
Glen Foerd has a gorgeous elevated view of the Delaware. There was a great moonrise last night. I took many photos! The mansion itself is pretty cool too
Mark 5:18:12 PM
this one playing is great / i only know allah-las by their Kathy heideman cover
Lizbot (host) 5:20:10 PM
@Mark - The Earth Won't Hold Me? Good song
Alan Pasnyk 5:21:23 PM
Really like this Go- Betweens, it moves along nicely........good music to drive to chillin'
Lizbot (host) 5:23:17 PM
@Alan - One of my favorites by them! Their late singer/guitarist Grant McLennan wrote it about walking home to his mom's house through fields in rural Queensland.
Alan Pasnyk 5:27:02 PM
@Lizbot, I heard a tune like this (Cattle and Cane) while I was dreaming that I was walking along the rooftops, then I woke up but didn't write the notes down unfortunately...
Mark 5:28:28 PM
yes & her og version is one of my fav songs that i never would have heard without PRB !
Lizbot (host) 5:31:39 PM
@Alan - I LOVE dreams like that. I often have dreams in which I hear music that sounds amazing in the dream, but I can never remember it when I wake. At least you got to enjoy it in your dream!
Lizbot (host) 5:31:58 PM
@Alan - And walking along rooftops reminds me of the video for Talking Heads' And She Was
Lizbot (host) 5:32:27 PM
@Mark - Nice! Yeah, I owe WPRB so much for so many artists I heard first on the station
Alan Pasnyk 5:33:59 PM
@ Lizbot Hint: I try to keep a small cheap programmable Casio by the bed
Lizbot (host) 5:36:12 PM
@Alan - I might have to steal that idea...
Mark 5:36:17 PM
@alan haha great idea i think I’ve had great dreams that coulda been screen plays but couldn’t remember:(
Lizbot (host) 5:37:24 PM
@Alan - But are you REALLY hearing the music? It's like when you try to look at numbers or time in a dream...you can't make them out or they often don't make sense. I still think about a dream I had back in 2000/2001 about a band in peppermint suits playing the most amazing song I ever heard. That song haunts me
Lizbot (host) 5:38:09 PM
@Mark - Same. but then therein lies the rub! And I guess that's what Richard Linklater was trying to accomplish when he made "Waking Life"
Mark 5:39:17 PM
haha never saw that one / gotta add it to my lizbot backlog of movie / books et al
Hiruma Chico 5:39:59 PM
Walking along rooftops reminds me of Walk Across The Rooftops by The Blue Nile.
Mark 5:40:48 PM
just don’t announce any new recommend shore reads from last week my stack is too high !
Alan Pasnyk 5:41:53 PM
I had a dream of my passed away grandmother, and all the passed away people in our family sitting on a Very Precipitous Grassy Hill, clouds below, me playing a banjo to a tune... I woke up and programmed my casio, tried in vain to remember it for two weeks, went to the casio, hit play, and then recalled it...wrote it later and called it "Going to Mary's" my grand mothers name...
Brian D 5:42:01 PM
Belew was nice on ride home. Hello Lizbot
Lizbot (host) 5:42:06 PM
@Mark & Alan - And for the record, while I like some Linklater movies alright- Dazed and Confused is fun on a pure entertainment level as a 70s Texas version of American Graffiti- I am not a fan of Waking Life. It comes off as kind of pretentious, scatterbrained and a bit like a stoned guy ranting at a party all at once
Lizbot (host) 5:42:24 PM
Hi Hiruma! huh, gotta check that out!
Lizbot (host) 5:43:09 PM
Hi Brian D!
Lizbot (host) 5:43:25 PM
@Brian - I always have time for Belew!
Lizbot (host) 5:43:48 PM
@Mark- haha, I maybe promise I won't!
Mark 5:44:31 PM
haha just stick w this music 🎵 it’s been fabulous so far :)
Lizbot (host) 5:45:24 PM
@Alan - Oh wow. I love the backstory of Going to Mary's! That sounds like a great dream. I've had something not quite like that, but dreams where my dead grandmom visited me and those were always good dreams
Brian D 5:48:30 PM
Looks like those characters are pronounced Shalash
Alan Pasnyk 5:52:08 PM
@ Brian, Yes
jimbeaux 5:52:26 PM
So THAT'S why I liked the Backyardigans so much!
jimbeaux 5:53:17 PM
(As a parent held captive to the media whims of my spawn)
Lizbot (host) 5:54:23 PM
@Brian D - Ahhh! I just found Shalash yesterday so I have yet to delve into figuring out their album titles. meant to translate that one before the show today!
Lizbot (host) 5:55:24 PM
@jimbeaux - Hello! Yeah, that was one of the little kid shows I actually enjoyed from the 2000s
jimbeaux 5:56:57 PM
Also the Wonder Pets...genius!
Alan Pasnyk 5:58:32 PM
@ Lizbot: Russian is easy, it's all phonetic, for translations though, consult Readie.
Alan Pasnyk 5:59:07 PM
(Busy making work for Readie) :)
Lizbot (host) 5:59:23 PM
@jimbeaux - Shows I liked/tolerated that were current airing, mostly on noggin (R.I.P. Noggin and it's lack of commercials): The Upside Show, Backyardigans, Little Bear, Oswald the Octopus (with Richard Kind and Michael McKean - met the author in Princeton once!), and Word Girl on Sprout. BUT CALLIOU can die a thousand deaths!
Lizbot (host) 6:00:37 PM
@Alan - My dean in college was the head of the Russian dept and bugged me to take Russian but there were/are many other languages I'd choice first, though I do like the sound of Russian
Lizbot (host) 6:01:42 PM
@jimbeaux - and my kid was very into Yo Gabba Gabba, which I was fine with, some of those songs were pretty good!, but I was glad she never asked to see it live!
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 6:02:36 PM
Calliou is a bad influence.
Lizbot (host) 6:03:36 PM
Hi Dave! He is a holy TERROR. I don't care that he's "just a kid who's 4"!
Lizbot (host) 6:04:11 PM
@Dave - Calliou's family's house was like a primary-color nightmare
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 6:04:32 PM
I believe that little baldo taught my kids all kinds of phobias they never knew were possible.
Lizbot (host) 6:05:19 PM
@Dave - That Oblio got his catchy little earworm theme song stuck in my head for YEARS
Lizbot (host) 6:06:31 PM

Luckily I also had DVDs of PeeWee's Playhouse. Very seditious.
Lizbot (host) 6:07:45 PM
@Dave & jimbeaux - Do either of you remember Oobi, that sock puppet nightmare that aired at 3 am on Noggin/Nick Jr.? Caught it a couple times when my kid couldn't sleep. Dear god, it haunts me
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 6:08:48 PM
Yes! Luckily the kids never wanted to see it.
Lizbot (host) 6:09:08 PM
@Dave - We have the PeeWee boxed set! And a boxed set of 70s/80s Sesame Street and all of Schoolhouse Rock, which Hattie adored, thank goodness! R.I.P. JAMBI!
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 6:10:09 PM
Same. Loved seeing the Lost Episodes after the show got cancelled.
Lizbot (host) 6:12:14 PM
@Dave - PeeWee was coming to The Met for an anniversary screening of PW's Big Adventure in 2020, but of course it got canceled
Lizbot (host) 6:12:52 PM
@Dave - PeeWee's Big Adventure is still one of my favorite movies all these years later! So good!
Rob from Maryland & vanished Cicadaland 6:14:11 PM
Hello all. I finally stopped listening "Bath Boy" so here I am.
Lizbot (host) 6:14:19 PM

Lizbot (host) 6:14:34 PM
@ROb - "Bath Boy"?

Rob from Maryland & vanished Cicadaland 6:15:23 PM
Lizbot, it was a song Mike Lupica played last night and the chatters were so taken by it it got played again at the end of his show
Lizbot (host) 6:15:26 PM
@Rob - haha. I went through shore withdrawal on Tuesday when it sunk in I couldn't watch seabirds all day.

jimbeaux 6:15:59 PM
@lizbot i was fascinated by OOBI!
Rob from Maryland & vanished Cicadaland 6:17:06 PM
Lizbot, :-(((
Lizbot (host) 6:17:23 PM
@Rob - I gotta check out Bath Boy then! I was at a Big Beautiful Man show at Glen Foerd estate on the Delaware River last night until 10 pm so I missed most of Freeform Pathogen, tuned in for a second on the drive home, but wanted to preview new music for my show today, so I put on that Russian prog Shalash band
Lizbot (host) 6:18:35 PM
@jimbeaux - I think Oobi at 3 am was to the late 2000s/early 2010s what late-night Teletubbies was to stoned teens in the 90s. Oobi gave me bad dreams.
Rob from Maryland & vanished Cicadaland 6:19:10 PM
@Lizbot, you should go through Mike's show's chat from last night... :-)
jimbeaux 6:20:24 PM
Think of the $$$ it made with such low production costs. FINGER PUPPETS.
Lizbot (host) 6:20:44 PM
@Rob - I gotta add that to my do-list list of PRB-related tasks, some more fun than others!
Lizbot (host) 6:21:37 PM
@jimbeaux - when it comes to finger puppets, I prefer Fingerbobs
Lizbot (host) 6:22:09 PM
@jimbeaux - or even sifl & Olly, mostly for Chester, the blanket fort king
jimbeaux 6:22:47 PM
🎶Oobie...Oobie Oobie Oobie Oobie OOBIE. 🎶
Lizbot (host) 6:23:25 PM
jimbeaux, noooo!
Lizbot (host) 6:25:12 PM
@jimbeaux - The Snorks, sad subaquatic ripoff of The Smurfs, used to air in Madrid after the bars let out at 4 am when I visited my friend there in the 90s. Snorks was clearly a stoner cartoon for spaniards.
jimbeaux 6:27:14 PM
Oh yeaaahhh...the Snorks.
jimbeaux 6:28:59 PM
So Percussion often does "In C" at their Princeton residency. In town, outside, etc.
Rob from Maryland & vanished Cicadaland 6:33:29 PM
@Lizbot, you probably won't be dissapointed going through the Freeform Pathogen playlist from last night
Lizbot (host) 6:35:22 PM
@jimbeaux - yeah, I haven't seen them perform that, but I caught their The Gun Show performance at Princeton with Mr. Various of the Worried Waltz in attendance as well. And I saw them perform with PLORK Princeton Laptop Orchestra and Matmos in Princeton before that. They came around for a show with PRISM Quartet in Philly a few years ago and held workshops for kids at the Kimmel. Turns out my kid was the ONLY one to sign up for it, so she got a one-on-one lesson for an hour!
Lizbot (host) 6:35:47 PM
@Rob- I gotta check that out!
Rob from Maryland & vanished Cicadaland 7:03:58 PM
I am hearing Sparks, after a fashion
Lizbot (host) 7:06:02 PM
@Rob - I can't got too long without Sparks. That was Sparks with Franz Ferdinand, ffs!
Lizbot (host) 7:08:19 PM
Franz Ferdinand the Red Bull Sparks energy drink - a collaboration between two high energy drinks or bands
Lizbot (host) 7:24:32 PM
And this is the opposite of hyper Sparks. I am feeling the need to revisit some of the songs I played last summer before we had live remote broadcasting set up but were instead all prerecording. I listened back to this song in my backyard in that weird time when I could listen to myself on the radio after recording two days earlier
Christine 🛰 7:32:42 PM

Alan Pasnyk 7:32:50 PM
This "Mambo" a takeoff of the Voyager plaque! Cool and funny!
Lizbot (host) 7:33:00 PM
Hi Christine!
Christine 🛰 7:33:32 PM
Hi Liz Bot, hey doubleplusgooders 👋
Lizbot (host) 7:34:04 PM
Yeah, I cut it off a tiny bit prematurely at the end there, by a few seconds, which bums me out because I really liked the transition between that cosmic Mambo and this Slim Whitman yodeling!
Lizbot (host) 7:34:15 PM
@Alan - Cool!
Christine 🛰 7:34:20 PM

Lizbot (host) 7:37:51 PM
@Christine - Back when I did a lot of live DJ nights in Philly, I had an idea when that Sparks energy drink was new to have a SPARKS & SPARKS night where everyone got very amped up on Sparks energy drink and then danced to Sparks!
Lizbot (host) 7:38:07 PM
@Christine - WHOA! At least it was safe!
Rob from Maryland & vanished Cicadaland 7:38:11 PM
@Lizbot, I don't know Planes, Trains & Automobiles. I do remember hearing this song in the DC area in the early 80s on the radio
