No, big plans are usually overrated

I hate to have to tell you... Well that's WPRB listeners that come into the chat room got together and we were going to play a joke and just not comment at all during your show kind of to blow your mind

But this set is so ideosyncratic and good I had to break my promise to not comment

That strange bit of I'd like to get to know you perked my ears up and then the Beach boys, I expected a Segway into heroes and villains and instead it was let him run wild... One of Brian's first true master works

Yeah that song is sooo good I wish he had gotten it together to make smile

Yeah, it was great to see him finally come out with it 10 years or so ago or whatever and exorcise that demon. But it was not what would have happened back in the day if he had finished it

I haven't listened to them in a while, but there are several bootlegs out that had mixed and issued smile from various sources. I remember one called the purple chick version being very good. It was a little bit stranger than what eventually came out 40 years later

I agree I want to see him live

I saw him many times, so when he came out and did pet sounds with the band, the smile tour, etc. Plus or the Beach boys back in '72 through '70 four or five

Last time we saw him was the last night of his recent tour at the Tower theater in Philly, The zombies playing the full Oracle and Odyssey album opened for him

That is the perfect show

The love the people in the audience have for him is palpable. It's like the 100% love for a child I think because he is so naive and childlike and has suffered and come through so much

It was sad actually because the theater was only half sold out. We had first row balcony but they didn't even open the upstairs, they gave everybody seats down in the orchestra

Unbelievable Brian Wilson is truly one of the god figures of rock and roll. He's doing less and less at each tour, he sits at the piano he barely played it this time. The band does the heavy lifting but they are excellent and it's still always a good show

Back in the day, 1969 and all, when the Beach boys weren't hip I was still a big fan and would get into arguments with all my hippie rock friends.

I remember people making fun of me when I would say pet sounds is the greatest album ever made... It's up to number two now by rolling Stones count so I feel vindicated

Yeah I've to keep closer track online for his next appearance

Yeah they went in and out of style but luckily vindicated

I expect he will be back. Looks like he has one show in Los Angeles end of August. What interviews an article seem to indicate that getting on the road for him is a revivifying act and prevents him from just slipping into a near catatonic state

He loves getting on the road, it's probably good for him all the activity and stuff... Last time spent in your room with your brain yelling at you you're worthless you suck

Yes probably all of them by now. I still like I just wasn't made for these times best

In 1972, the Beach boys and kinks, backed up by a local New Brunswick band the looking glass (Brandy was their hit) played the Trenton State fairgrounds. The Beach boys hadn't yet devolved into an oldies act, albums like Holland and adding Blondie Chaplin to the band helped keep them viable. But the kinks were the worst act I'd ever seen

I don't think I saw that one I'll have to look it up

Ray Davies was so pissed drunk that he could barely get off his knees, sang the song your leg bones connected to your shin bone twice, and the band lasted about 25 minutes I still resent him for taking the $2.75 kinks share of the admission ticket

Yeah I heard they were a mess at that point

If I ever get a chance to meet him I will give him a piece of my mind

How was the looking glass live?

No I don't know that place in lambertville. We used to go to New Hope for the head shop right over the bridge. And I don't remember how looking glass was, they used to play regularly at Rutgers so it was no big deal
