Good morning, Christine.
Christine 🦊 7:50:06 AM
Nothing like this kind of layered percussion to wake up the brain. ☕
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 7:50:49 AM
Indeed. It's satisfyingly complicated.
Brian D 8:00:57 AM

And the Lumin
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 8:01:48 AM
Although I cut Gong's part 2, which was just a dull drum solo.
Christine 🦊 8:03:49 AM
Drum solos can be indulgent sometimes. And I say that loving percussion.
Brian D 8:03:57 AM
O this is just right as the awakening continues. Happy Friday everyone!
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 8:04:49 AM
Having been habituated to complex Indian and jazz percussion, the simple rock beats bore me.
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 8:05:43 AM
"The Awakening" should have been my show title.
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 8:10:47 AM
And speaking of rhythm, here's a 13-beat rhythm cycle.
Brian D 8:12:22 AM
Lucky 13!

I'm sure Shankar proposed that one, and Zappa was happy to comply.
Christine 🦊 8:13:35 AM
So much fun. Sure, Frank, we love clapping our hands in 5/8 then in 4/4!
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 8:14:26 AM
Shankar's South Indian classical training includes all sorts of wild rhythm cycles.

Great show today evaD! Tapping along the best I can, I never got the hang of counting different time signatures.. though I enjoy hearing them
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 8:17:23 AM
