It's.......LIZBOT TIME!!!! Hellllo!!
Lizbot (host) 5:03:54 PM
Hi Alan!
Alan Pasnyk 5:04:35 PM
Hopin that you dodged the last Hailstorm..
Lizbot (host) 5:04:48 PM
I did NOT
Lizbot (host) 5:05:44 PM
I was sitting in my car on the shoulder of Rte 72 in the middle of the Pineys for that entire hail storm! I got video. Sat there listening to prog and watching hail smack my windows
Alan Pasnyk 5:06:04 PM
OOps ...Sorry... I saw that it was headed in your direction...hoping no damage...
Brian D 5:06:37 PM
Lizbot!
Lizbot (host) 5:06:53 PM
No damage...that I noticed! I have a long road trip coming up to New England the first week of August and I can't have any car damage at this point!
Lizbot (host) 5:06:58 PM
Hi Brian D!
Rob from Maryland 5:07:06 PM
Hi everyone! Lizbot, was this hailstorm today or yesterday or ?
Lizbot (host) 5:07:37 PM
Hi RoB!
Lizbot (host) 5:07:47 PM
@Rob - Yesterday around 3 pm.
Alan Pasnyk 5:07:51 PM
DEVO!!! YES!
Rob from Maryland 5:08:08 PM
Thx LizB. I'm glad nothing happened to your car
Brian D 5:08:12 PM
High five on the highway Lizbot! We are headed to New England 1st week of Aug too
Lizbot (host) 5:09:08 PM
@Rob - I was on my way back from the shore. LBI was badly flooded when I left the island at 2:15. Lots of traffic. Made it to the middle of the Pineys when the hail started and the rain got so torrential, had to pull over, as did all the cars in front and behind me. Visibility was terrible! Was somewhat exciting though!
Lizbot (host) 5:09:36 PM
@Brian D - Nice!
Lizbot (host) 5:09:41 PM
@Brian D - Whereabouts?
Brian D 5:10:11 PM
Great tune here
Rob from Maryland 5:10:18 PM
@Lizbot, Phew
Lizbot (host) 5:10:20 PM
Yes! Digging this EP
Lizbot (host) 5:10:44 PM
@ROb - Yeah, It was not even the worst storm I've been caught in in the Pineys! Seems I wind up there during storms quite often!
Alan Pasnyk 5:10:52 PM
@Lizbot.. You Survived!!
Lizbot (host) 5:11:53 PM
@Brian D - We're heading to Colchester, VT first, then Middlebury/Lake Dunmore, then down to Northampton to visit a Philly friend who moved there last year, then to Hudson, NY
Rob from Maryland 5:12:03 PM
Lizbot, are you a storm magnet?
Lizbot (host) 5:12:20 PM
@Alan - Yeah, the flooding was the most stressful part! Especially on LBI - It was ridiculous
Rob from Maryland 5:12:30 PM
@Lizbot that sounds like a nice trip
Brian D 5:12:33 PM
Vermont. Burlington and Stowe / Montpelier area. Stop in Woodstock NY for a night on way up... maybe on way back too . Found a nice b&b apartment in country out of town there. We have friend in VT for lodging there but.... probably find hotel or b&b. Gone are the days of couching it...
Rob from Maryland 5:12:52 PM
@Brian D that sounds like a nice trip too
Lizbot (host) 5:13:02 PM
@Rob - I think it's more like I am down the shore for sometimes an open-ended chunk of a few days, and if the weather gets iffy, I leave. But so does everyone else, hence traffic.
Lizbot (host) 5:13:37 PM
@Brian D - Sounds great! Yeah, we will definitely be stopping in Burlington and probably eating dinner there
Brian D 5:13:41 PM
We will be weaving braided highway/ back road trails on the maps ha
Brian D 5:14:47 PM
Aug 6,7,8 are probably our Burlington dinner nights or 2 outta 3....
Lizbot (host) 5:14:51 PM
@Brian D - I used to think nothing of driving for 8 hours straight, and now I really am kinda stressed about it. My car is old! I think this might be it's final hurrah.
Lizbot (host) 5:15:44 PM
I really wanted to go to MassMOCA for Loud Weekend with Bang on a Can, but it overlaps with my kid's last two days of summer camp, and I'm not about to drive up to Mass, then back to PA, then back to Mass again in the span of two days!
Brian D 5:16:03 PM
The stopping @ Woodstock halfway point is p exactly my feeling to about straight 7 - 8 hr drives
Alan Pasnyk 5:16:29 PM
@ Lizbot: If your car was new, that tree probably would have landed on it!!
Brian D 5:17:19 PM
Nick Lowe and Brinsley!
Alan Pasnyk 5:17:57 PM
@ Brian: Great guitar last two tracks..
Lizbot (host) 5:18:17 PM
@Brian D - My husband always falls asleep when he's in the passenger seat, but I'm gonna play loud music to keep him awake so he can be my navigator! Also, I GOTTA MAKE ROADTRIP PLAYLISTS ASAP!!! So many possibilities. Plus my 12 year-old is really into taking deep dives into various bands at the moment, so we might be doing whole discographies of certain very influential bands
Brian D 5:18:21 PM
Shimmering poppy rock gtr. And it continues!
Lizbot (host) 5:18:25 PM
@Brian D - Yeah!
Lizbot (host) 5:18:56 PM
And this is Cheer-Accident's Cheap Trick cover, which is a pretty straight cover, but it gets a little weird later in the track, in a good way!
Lizbot (host) 5:19:20 PM
I love these guys. They've stayed at our house...two times now when touring from Chicago
Alan Pasnyk 5:20:01 PM
Oh no!! used to play this track (Dream Police) EVERY MORNING after wakin up, It used to drive my younger brother nuts!
Lizbot (host) 5:20:18 PM
Alan - Yeah, you're probably right! Haha, the ONE time my parents bought a new car, someone in Maine on one of our family road trips when I was a teen smashed the rear of the car with a log on a logging road we had to pull over on to get to a trail!
Lizbot (host) 5:20:30 PM
@Alan - haha! Nice!
Alan Pasnyk 5:22:35 PM
and...draggin' out the end......then....
Andrew Gruen 5:22:46 PM
whoa. i like this reinterpretation
Lizbot (host) 5:23:07 PM
Hi Andrew! Yeah, I like that they go crazy in this bridge
Lizbot (host) 5:23:26 PM
It seems like a straight cover until that part!
Bud Burroughs 5:23:43 PM
Funny that you mention Cheer-Ax staying at your house while playing a Cheap Trick cover. Miles Neilsen, son of Cheap Trick's Rick Neilsen sometimes stays at my house while touring. I'm sure there's some deep coincidental meaning there...
Bud Burroughs 5:23:50 PM
But yeah, great cover!
Lizbot (host) 5:23:59 PM
Hi Bud!
Lizbot (host) 5:24:45 PM
@Bud - Ha! Some kinda full circle or oval or some shape! Midwest touring friends FTW
Brian D 5:25:00 PM
A Lizbot 2x + Good classic here
Brian D 5:25:49 PM
Something in the deli aisle...
Bud Burroughs 5:27:05 PM
The original less-well-known non-cover of Peace Love & Understanding was great to hear too!
Lizbot (host) 5:27:38 PM
@Brian D - Yes! I love that deli aisle line. Very many memories of late nights at Wawas and corner stores laughing with friends about some funny thing we saw
Lizbot (host) 5:30:57 PM
@Bud - Yeah, I love the Elvis Costello version but prefer the original
Lizbot (host) 5:37:27 PM
a detour into some bleepy bloops, and then some Juana Molina, Turkish pop/psych and 70s Italian prog coming up in this current set
Alan Pasnyk 5:38:12 PM
And now the final cicada report... One lone cicada heard in Warrington Pa. and another in Plumsteadville, I think they are planning to make the next Brood even more spectacular!
Lizbot (host) 5:39:17 PM
Magicicada's Last Stand
Lizbot (host) 5:40:21 PM
I was listening to this Dustin Wong/Takako Minekawa stuff in my car during part of the hailstorm yesterday. This may as well be the sound of hail pelting my windshield
Lizbot (host) 5:41:07 PM
@Alan - Maybe the two final cicadas can arrange a final tryst at the Regal Warrington for a movie date night before they disappear
Alan Pasnyk 5:42:38 PM
They are planning something big.. I can read cicada body language :)
Alan Pasnyk 5:43:36 PM
Is it a coincidence that this Dustin reminds me of cicadas???
Lizbot (host) 5:44:10 PM
@Alan - I have a vision: Cicada Dating App. You are the CEO!
Lizbot (host) 5:44:22 PM
Here's some Juana for all your Molina-heads out there
Rob from Maryland 5:47:27 PM
RIP to the final magicicadas :-(
Lizbot (host) 5:48:41 PM
[crying]
Alan Pasnyk 5:48:56 PM
@ Rob: But onward with the lightning bugs and Katydids...
Lizbot (host) 5:49:11 PM
@Rob & Alan - This song, Flower of Love, is dedicated to those majestic cicadas
Alan Pasnyk 5:50:28 PM
Good Cicada Dedication.. Cicadication!!
Rob from Maryland 5:52:37 PM
You're the best, Lizbot
Rob from Maryland 5:53:01 PM
(btw I'm not listening to the show yet)
DSM 5:53:14 PM
Alan, over in Newtown area the regular/annual cicadas have emerged, makes the loss of Brood X a bit more bearable
Rob from Maryland 5:53:33 PM
@Alan and Lizbot, lightning bugs and katydids, yes. And annual cicadas
Lizbot (host) 5:54:23 PM
@Alan - ha! nice cicada-fied neologism there!
Alan Pasnyk 5:54:28 PM
@ DSM: Hi I really didn't know that there was a difference.. Until Now! Thanks!
Lizbot (host) 5:54:43 PM
@ROb - Gosh, thanks!
Andrew Gruen 5:55:17 PM

Alan Pasnyk 5:55:23 PM
@ Lizbot: Maserati Moves, like the car?
DSM 5:55:35 PM
They are emerald green and have that dog days of summer song
Lizbot (host) 5:55:37 PM
HI Andrew! Yes! RIP Gerhardt
DSM 5:55:55 PM
Ha! @Lizbot, yes exactly
Rob from Maryland 5:56:46 PM
@DSM I've heard several annual cicadas in my area
Lizbot (host) 5:57:01 PM
@DSM - I forever associate those annual cicadas with this transformative experience I had lying on my back in a field near the community pool where I used to swim as a kid. The cicada sounds blended with an airplane overheard and an almost air raid siren sound and I have ALWAYS wanted to recreate that sound. I never got over it!
Andrew Gruen 5:57:03 PM
i saw them in Atlanta in 2007 and i was standing next to Jerry's parents. 😥
Lizbot (host) 5:57:57 PM
@Andrew - So sad. Such a crazy way to go
DSM 5:59:39 PM
Rob, glad you have some friends back! There was one clung to my window while i ate breakfast today. Was maybe eyeing my collection of brood x shells tho 🤔
DSM 6:00:22 PM
Liz that’s crazy I’d love to hear that soundif you ever figure out how to recreate it!
Rob from Maryland 6:02:17 PM
@Lizbot, I'd love to hear that song too
Rob from Maryland 6:03:10 PM
@DSM, yes. I haven't actually seen any though, let alone looking inside the house
Rob from Maryland 6:03:41 PM
(btw I'm now listening to WPRB)
DSM 6:08:01 PM
I feel like they’re a more reclusive cicada, I usually only see their shells
Alan Pasnyk 6:08:58 PM
@ Lizbot: Nice Weather = Bouncy Upbeat Esposito!
Rob from Maryland 6:09:06 PM
@DSM, they actually know how to navigate and fly ;-) unlike their bumbling periodical kin. I do see the annuals flying around, usually around the upper half of a tree
Lizbot (host) 6:09:29 PM
@DSM - Yeah, it's this intense formative memory. I don't know exactly how old I was but I'm guessing older than 7 and younger than 10. It honestly haunts me, in a good way! I think I've always chased that sound! Not as elusive, but there was also a dissonant and creepy piece that accompanied an early Sesame Street video about the manufacturing of I-beams that made a huge impression on my when I was 5 and I couldn't find it for years, but eventually someone put that on YouTube
Rob from Maryland 6:09:47 PM
I turned off the station to listen to the Mehmet Barış Manço song, which is quite nice
Lizbot (host) 6:10:04 PM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49FBci5D7Ik
Lizbot (host) 6:10:16 PM
@Rob - Nice!
Lizbot (host) 6:10:51 PM
and NOW....John Lurie of The Lounge Lizards and Jim Jarmusch go shark fishing in Montauk
Lizbot (host) 6:11:52 PM
@Alan - Bouncy Esposito is a band name if I ever heard one!
Lizbot (host) 6:12:16 PM
haha, trying to sing along with latency while live remote broadcasting!
Lizbot (host) 6:12:23 PM
I love this growling
Lizbot (host) 6:12:29 PM
(this is the sound sharks make)
Rob from Maryland 6:12:39 PM
@Lizbot, I had to since you mentioned cicadas in connection with that song
DSM 6:12:40 PM
Ha! “I’ll have a toadt beef sandwich and a beer”
DSM 6:12:49 PM
*roast
DSM 6:13:12 PM
“The fisherman awoke with sores and boners”
Lizbot (host) 6:13:14 PM
@ROb - See, I have tricks up my sleeve to get you to tune in. I played the cicada card!
DSM 6:13:21 PM
Love fishing with john
Lizbot (host) 6:13:44 PM
@DSM - YES. The Narration in Fishing with John is A+++++++++
Rob from Maryland 6:13:46 PM
@Lizbot, you sure do *takes fish hook out of mouth*
Lizbot (host) 6:14:00 PM
@Rob - ha!
Lizbot (host) 6:14:51 PM
@Rob - Next I'll be promising cicada field recording remixes and dragging a cicada husk on a string. Leaving a trail of husks. And you will know us by the trail of the dead
Rob from Maryland 6:15:55 PM
@Lizbot, if you do, please keep in mind that I can only listen to your show starting at around 6:10
DSM 6:16:39 PM
OMG I remember that I beam segment clear as day now after just watching it! I remember being so intrigued but also slightly frightened, I think maybe that I’d have to go thru the squash machine for some reason. Thanks for the link!
Lizbot (host) 6:16:54 PM
@Rob - I remember! It'll be all cicadas all the time from 6:10 onwards starting next week when I launch my reimaged Doubleplusgood Sounds of Nature program
Lizbot (host) 6:17:05 PM
*reimagined
Alan Pasnyk 6:17:46 PM
@ Lizbot: I wonder if the upper range in frequency of a cicada can be recorded? Would it sound the same?
Lizbot (host) 6:18:31 PM
@DSM - Yeah! No problem! I was so psyched when someone finally uploaded that, many years ago at this point. That was my exact reaction to it: frightened but intrigued. Sesame Street didn't shy away from some intense content for the toddlers back then!
DSM 6:19:52 PM
They let us see the world as it is!
DSM 6:20:10 PM
A squash machine!! Haha
Lizbot (host) 6:25:02 PM
@DSM - yes. filled with cows. this was so gentle and slow-paced, it was revolutionary https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uq1-wV8wsvk
Rob from Maryland 6:28:27 PM
@Lizbot, I'm looking forward to your new program, reimaged or reimagined!
Lizbot (host) 6:28:59 PM
@Rob - Great! I will reimage it, then!
DSM 6:35:05 PM
Wow, I’m speechless! That was beautiful, can we TV back to that place? That was like an art piece! “Hey cow, I see you now 🎶” I love how the narrator is very sparse and they just let the song breathe, and the cows graze, and the cinematography is actually pretty good too!
Lizbot (host) 6:39:36 PM
@DSM - Srsly! We need more programs like was Sesame Street used to be! I happily still watch their really early episodes. Pretty innovative way out there animation and stop-motion techniques in so many of their episodes from back then as well!
DSM 6:42:48 PM
This is a great summer night tune
Lizbot (host) 6:43:35 PM
Yeah, I hadn't listened to this in so long
Guelo @blindpeteandthespacecadets 6:58:23 PM
that was awesome
Alan Pasnyk 6:58:48 PM
That was Lizbot in Bot-Mode!!
Lizbot (host) 7:01:46 PM
@Guelo - Hello! Thanks!
Lizbot (host) 7:02:31 PM
@Alan - haha, my voice is so messed up right now! guzzled a buncha water before the break!
DSM 7:03:41 PM
Onyeabor always gets me hyped!
Lizbot (host) 7:05:20 PM
@DSM - same! Was listening to him to get hyped for the beach! This song is so upbeat but gloomy lyrics!
Lizbot (host) 7:05:46 PM
@DSM - But he could sing basically anything and I'd be hyped by it
DSM 7:07:07 PM
Love that his lyrics are like that, kinda serious subject matter paired with insane dance music
DSM 7:07:44 PM
I got both those box sets and I think this album is my fave of them all
Lizbot (host) 7:08:12 PM
@DSM - Yes! I prefer hype music with doom lyrics to doom music with hype lyrics!
Lizbot (host) 7:09:09 PM
@DSM - Same. I love Everyday a lot!
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 7:09:19 PM
I'll take doom music with doom lyrics.
Lizbot (host) 7:09:34 PM
@DSM - And when the going gets good, though that one IS maybe a tad too long!

Hi!
George Korein 7:09:54 PM
Digging this chiptune chanson
DSM 7:10:25 PM
When the going is good was the first one I ever heard by him, i kinda love how long it is!
Lizbot (host) 7:10:40 PM
@George - Long Live Françoise!
DSM 7:11:00 PM
Doom upon doom is quite enjoyable as well, DTO
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 7:11:20 PM
Aye, DSM.
Lizbot (host) 7:11:51 PM
@DSM - I absolutely forgive any Onyeabor repetitiveness. It's all about that. I am just thinking of how I was playing that one down the shore a few days ago and my husband said "Enough!" but what does he know?!
Lizbot (host) 7:12:30 PM
doom upon doom with a side of gloom is sometimes called for
DSM 7:13:21 PM
Ha! I could see someone doing that, i mean it is ten minutes of really the same thing over and over, but what a groove!
Lizbot (host) 7:16:29 PM
@DSM - Yes! No one can deny the infectious upbeat groove of Onyeabor! I love it also because it's great music for getting ready or packing for a trip with the energy and the long tracks
Lizbot (host) 7:19:26 PM
a more somber and pretty revisit with our friends from Chicago
Lizbot (host) 7:22:27 PM
(who earlier in today's program brought us that inspired Cheap Trick cover)
DSM 7:32:35 PM
I think Cheap Trick is touring with Jane’s Addiction and Offspring? And maybe some other bands? Maybe that’s a one off festival date or something
Lizbot (host) 7:33:27 PM
@DSM - Hmmm, yeah I'd only wanna see Cheap Trick, and not JA or Offspring. I haven't ventured back into big festivals
Lizbot (host) 7:34:12 PM
@DSM- I've been going to small, so far entirely outdoor shows, though I might go to some indoor ones on the smaller side soonish
DSM 7:38:03 PM
Yeah I haven’t done an indoor show yet either, I can almost taste the air just thinking about them and I am not quite ready haha
DSM 7:38:30 PM
Pass on offspring as well, tho I’d be into JA!
Lizbot (host) 7:40:09 PM
@DSM - Yeah, I so far have gone to a handful of smallish outdoor shows, and then I'm going to King Crimson with Zappa Band the day after Labor Day, and that will be a big crowd, but at least it's at the Mann, so also outdoors
Lizbot (host) 7:44:54 PM
Musica Practica Elettronica Viva show on the Delaware River at the Glen Foerd Estate with Manna Pourrezaei and Big Beautiful Man, one really small Korean percussion show in a park in Queen Village, and a few other little things like that with lots of air between other concert-goers. I only have tickets for one events that indoors and kinda crowded and I think I'm gonna have to skip it. It conflicts with something else anyway
DSM 7:45:05 PM
I really gotta keep my eyes open for shows again, didn’t know King Crimson was playing! I bet there’s a bunch I’m unaware of
Lizbot (host) 7:46:40 PM
@DSM - it was rescheduled from June 16th, 2020, which was a Saturday night and my anniversary, so that would've been perfect. I had gotten tickets for that the moment it went on sale, which was of course pre-March 2020
Lizbot (host) 7:47:12 PM
@DSM - I love the Mann. It's a great venue, great vibe in the summer and fall, and I don't have to worry about being in a closed in space
DSM 7:52:55 PM
I think i had Nick Cave tickets for the Mann which I wonder if I got refunded?! Forgot all about that!
Rob from Maryland 7:54:19 PM
Thanks for the excellent varied music tonight, Lizbot!
DSM 7:54:26 PM
Great show tonight! Thanks again for the youtube links
Alan Pasnyk 7:57:03 PM
Thanks for the Cheap Trick cover, the bot music and all, Have a great Weekend bcnu
Lizbot (host) 7:57:21 PM
@DSM - I had those too! For the Ghost Teen tour. I *think* it was refunded. Man, I had gone crazy buying tickets to so many shows I was excited about that went on sale that winter of 2020!
Lizbot (host) 7:57:29 PM
Thanks, DSM!
Lizbot (host) 7:57:35 PM
THanks, Alan!
Lizbot (host) 7:57:43 PM
THanks, Rob!
Lizbot (host) 7:58:38 PM
I hope you all have a hail-free week!
