ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 8:49:41 AM
Yeah, those English versions are best avoided.
Teresa Peacock 8:58:34 AM
Hi again! Sorry it took me so long to respond -- I just got back from taking my son to his day program. I find that people who are big fans of RPI really like it to the exclusion of all other music though. For example; there's the Neapolitan group Balletto Di Bronzo that began as a straight-up hard rock group in the same vein as Led Zeppelin, The James Gang, etc. They subsequently fired their original singer and re-formed as a RPI. Both albums they put out are excellent and very different from
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 8:59:47 AM
Next week I am definitely playing Il Balletto Di Bronzo.
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 9:01:45 AM
From the 2nd LP "Ys". And you know me, I'll never exclude other music.
Teresa Peacock 9:02:30 AM
...one another. But lovers of RPI have nothing but the most scathing criticisms of that first non-RPI album (at least, that's what I've witnessed on Amazon.com and in the blogosphere...)
Triquelli 9:02:59 AM
Il Balletto di Bronzo is divisive but I'm very much on the pro side of the argument. The vocals on "Ys" never bothered me until someone said he couldn't stand them, then I realized they are actually quite nasal and shrill.
Triquelli 9:04:47 AM
P.S I only like Ys not Sirio 2222 fwiw
Teresa Peacock 9:07:34 AM
Yeah, I love "Ys" but I also love "Sirio 2222", I must admit! I've noticed that RPI generally has a HUGE fan following in Brazil! I think there are a lot of affinities between the languages and the musical cultures so it makes sense.
Triquelli 9:09:36 AM
All the pictures today are of males. There are a very few female vocal RPI bands. Opus Avantra, Saint Just, Pierrot Lunaire.
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 9:13:28 AM
@Triquelli, you are correct. RPI is male dominated. The next set has 2 groups with female vocalists. And more next week
Teresa Peacock 9:14:07 AM
I'm SO THRILLED that there will be a second installment of RPI next week! WOO-HOO!!!
ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ (host) 9:14:57 AM
