For that flamenco piece, the artist was Manitas de Plata a famous flamenco gypsy guitarist. "FACE A" just means ' side A ' probably in French due to the record label. Delta de Sel is the film title

"Little Hands of Silver" the nickname of Ricardo Baliardo . Born in France but associated much w Spain. Relative to the members of Gypsy Kings.

I'm savoring each Prine album, I had been "saving" some for "hard times" that I wouldn't listen to so I had something to look forward to no matter what, but I realized that's the sonic equivalent of saving the good china for guests

plus I hear something new every time anyway, the songs hit differently at each age

Hearing certain songs on certain road trips... i heard John Prine's "The Bottomless Lake" live version with a great talk intro as only John could do. It completes the whole thing. Heard it on some independent radio station in New England or NY State. Riding on back roads... perfect

Not to be confused with his other lake song Lake Marie (the one w the... standing by peaceful waters... chorus). Another great one

for many years, before I knew the lyrics, I thought Bruised Orange (Chain of Sorrow) was "Lake of Sorrow"

context clues would point to a chain with "wrapped up in your chain of sorrow" but being wrapped up in a lake of sorrow seemed another lake in the great lakes of hell tour begun in the lake of fire by meat puppets

The radio is a perfect medium on road trips. I had my own moment the other night driving home late at night through Hunterdon County, listening to Mike Hunter's show. Unearthly sounds through the warm crackle of my car, worrying I would be the next Sleepy Hollow victim

he also had hits in German and performed a syrupy style of music called "schlager"

a real banger of a schlager is his "Silent Sail of My Yearnings". The name alone is swoonworthy

hungarian language has adopted the word schlager to mean Pop Hit

oh that's definitely a subset of schlagers

maybe even the main set. think full pop orchestra with happy lyrics from the 60s and beyond

but sometimes the lyrics take a turn into drama, which is my favorite
