Hello everyone!

Really? You've been spinning these great blues records for almost 45 minutes and not one lazy motherfucker can be bothered to comment? Well, I love your show, although I'm only a relatively recent listener. And I've only recently discovered Memphis Minnie, even though this records about 100 years old. I'd heard of her, but I hadn't actually HEARD her until a few months ago. Thanks for your great taste in music.

There's nothing "Little" about these talents. I don't think I'd ever listened enough to Little Willie John. What a impassioned top-quality blues vocalist!

Stitching Pink I like your show a lot too, although I know jack shit about knitting. But I like how you combine your passions of knitting and music. Frankly, if I were the programming director and you pitched me a show where you said, "Well, I'm gonna play some music and then I'm gonna teach people how to knit a sweater or something,? I'm not sure I would have given that the green light. But it works!

@Richard: Indeed! Worth listening past "Fever" and some of his hits.

Yeah, you're hitting on a lot of my favorites here--Little Willie John, Ruth Brown...it said in the liner notes to the Little Willie John collection I have that James Brown toured with him early in his career and borrowed a lot from him.

Like Mark I can't knit, crochet, or sew. I couldn't make a lanyard to save my life. But I always like hearing about it!

Didn't know about James Brown and Willie John but that makes sense!

Oh, my! Aretha Franklin also recorded a killer cover of "96 Tears" early on. Very cool that song has a whole life outside garage rock curiosity/anthem.

I'll have to check out Aretha's version!

I love Wynonie Harris but I sometimes fear his lyrics will get me in trouble with the Society for the Supression of Vice. I decided I could get "Lovin' Machine" past the censors safely.

I honestly think the songs were better when they had to write euphemisms to get around the censors instead of just spewing profanity.
