Welcome to an August Monday.....
Brian D 12:10:18 PM
I like that lively Bacharach organ tune! And this current track
Dan Buskirk (host) 12:12:13 PM
Thanks. Jackie DeShannon's "What the World Needs Now" (done by organist Trudy Pitts at the opening) is one of those songs that was everywhere when I was kid....
Patrick White 12:21:11 PM
Good Afternoon Dan.What the world needs now is more....B12 Organ
Dan Buskirk (host) 12:22:58 PM
More B-12 injections!
Patrick White 12:23:42 PM
I miss Ortliebs Jazz .
Dan Buskirk (host) 12:27:46 PM
Yeah, still think about seeing Shirley and Mickey there in the late 80s...
Dan Buskirk (host) 12:41:21 PM
This William Parker Trio record with guitarist Ava Mendoza has been a big summer hit (with me)...
Patrick White 1:11:25 PM
William Parker very prolific this year but this is the best.I heard.
Dan Buskirk (host) 1:16:39 PM
Digging Parker's trio record with Daniel Carter, and Gerald Cleaver too, nice to have some William on vinyl...
Dan Buskirk (host) 1:23:52 PM
Interesting hearing some early Bill Frissell on this Paul Motian date, something I pulled outta the Rec Ex used bin this week..
Dan Buskirk (host) 1:28:13 PM
This Gil Scott cuts seemed very "of the moment" as his stuff often does...
Dan Buskirk (host) 1:40:57 PM
Nothing new in this set, all just stuff I love, starting with this Sam River (on flute!) cut...
Patrick White 1:41:37 PM
Ironic you played Bill Frissell .He also has wonderful version of What the world needs now.
Dan Buskirk (host) 1:43:21 PM
Yeah, kinda athartic watching him on YouTube play that in front of his house in 2020
Dan Buskirk (host) 1:43:31 PM
"cathartic"
Dan Buskirk (host) 1:43:56 PM
(probably still spelled wrong)
Patrick White 1:53:51 PM
Went to see GSH near the end at Tin Angel. He was already an hour late and promoter was yelling in the phone Gil Why are you at 7th at Girard Gil?I left after that.
Dan Buskirk (host) 1:54:15 PM
Almost went to that show myself...
Patrick White 1:56:35 PM
There's a great mural of him on the lower east side.i believe East 13th and D
Dan Buskirk (host) 1:58:45 PM
He was an amazing man. Him and Stevie's push for the MLK holiday is inspiring...
Patrick White 2:12:41 PM
Great

Dan Buskirk (host) 2:16:44 PM
Oi!
Dan Buskirk (host) 2:18:21 PM
Solex has been off the scene for a while now...
Patrick White 2:18:34 PM
Kind of neutral on ELO but I give them credit for their long sustaining popularity
Dan Buskirk (host) 2:22:03 PM
I've gone back and digested the full ELO albums recently, found it quite enjoyable. They did a good job with their catalog reissues in the early 2000s...
Patrick White 2:29:42 PM
Don't think they toured much.Never went to see them.me and my tribesmen used to go all the Spectrum concerts late 70s early 80s.
Skip Bittman 2:29:55 PM
I think ELO made some fantastic music in the 70s. Out Of The Blue is a particular standout record, with Starlight being a great example of their (his) songwriting magic. The melody is undeniably trippy. Jeff Lynne's musical contributions throughout the 90s fell quite short by comparison IMO
Dan Buskirk (host) 2:31:11 PM
OUT OF THE BLUE was a X-mas gift for me (had to put those expensive doubles on the christmas list).
Dan Buskirk (host) 2:31:48 PM
Just bought and heard 1986's BALANCE OF POWER, their last with Bev Bevan, and was surprised how much I enjoyed it.
Skip Bittman 2:33:26 PM
Sorrow... was exceptionally good. I'll have to give the rest a listen.
Patrick White 2:33:39 PM
If Jeff Lynne would have trademarked MOVE what would John Africa called his group?
Dan Buskirk (host) 2:35:46 PM
The Traveling Wilburys.
Skip Bittman 2:43:48 PM
Haha
Dan Buskirk (host) 2:54:34 PM
Modern Lovers covers!
Brian D 2:54:55 PM
Good time today Dan
Dan Buskirk (host) 2:55:37 PM
Thanks! I had fun!
Patrick White 2:56:17 PM
