This William Parker Trio record with guitarist Ava Mendoza has been a big summer hit (with me)...

William Parker very prolific this year but this is the best.I heard.

Digging Parker's trio record with Daniel Carter, and Gerald Cleaver too, nice to have some William on vinyl...

Interesting hearing some early Bill Frissell on this Paul Motian date, something I pulled outta the Rec Ex used bin this week..

This Gil Scott cuts seemed very "of the moment" as his stuff often does...

Nothing new in this set, all just stuff I love, starting with this Sam River (on flute!) cut...

Went to see GSH near the end at Tin Angel.He was already an hour late and promoter was yelling in the phone Gil Why are you at 7th at Girard Gil?I left after that.

Almost went to that show myself...

Solex has been off the scene for a while now...

Kind of neutral on ELO but I give them credit for their long sustaining popularity

I've gone back and digested the full ELO albums recently, found it quite enjoyable. They did a good job with their catalog reissues in the early 2000s...

Don't think they toured much.Never went to see them.me and my tribesmen used to go all the Spectrum concerts late 70s early 80s.

I think ELO made some fantastic music in the 70s. Out Of The Blue is a particular standout record, with Starlight being a great example of their (his) songwriting magic. The melody is undeniably trippy. Jeff Lynne's musical contributions throughout the 90s fell quite short by comparison IMO

OUT OF THE BLUE was a X-mas gift for me (had to put those expensive doubles on the christmas list).

Just bought and heard 1986's BALANCE OF POWER, their last with Bev Bevan, and was surprised how much I enjoyed it.

Sorrow... was exceptionally good. I'll have to give the rest a listen.

If Jeff Lynne would have trademarked MOVE what would John Africa called his group?
